Who is Mark Stevens, the Warriors owner who shoved a Raptors player?

The person who reached over when Raptors guard Kyle Lowry fell into the crowd Thursday while chasing a loose ball during Game 3 of the NBA Finals with the Golden State Warriors wasn’t just a fan. He was also a minority owner of the Golden State Warriors and a prominent Silicon Valley investor.
Mark Stevens, the managing partner of S-Cubed Capital, has been
banned from the rest of the NBA Finals, the Warriors said Thursday.
Who is Stevens? Stevens is best known in Silicon Valley as a former partner at Sequoia Capital, the high-profile venture capital firm that has backed famous tech companies for decades from Apple and Cisco to Google and Instagram. Forbes estimates his net worth at $2.3 billion. He joined Sequoia in 1989 as an associate and was a partner from 1993 to 2012.

Stevens serves on Santa Clara chipmaker Nvidia’s board of directors and has been on the University of Southern California’s Board of Trustees since 2001, according to his S-Cubed Capital biography.

Stevens is also a USC alumnus, with degrees in electrical engineering and economics granted in 1981.
How much has he given away? Stevens has donated more than $100 million to USC, according to
2017 profile published by the university. The donations include a $22 million endowment in 2004 to establish the USC Stevens Institute for Technology Commercialization, which was later re-named the USC Stevens Center for Innovation, a $50 million donation in 2015 for the USC Mark and Mary Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute and another $10 million to create the Stevens Academic Center.
Stevens has previously served on the board of trustees of the Menlo School, a private school in Atherton, according to his S-Cubed biography, though he is
not listed as a current board member.

Stevens and his wife Mary have signed the Giving Pledge, a promise to give away half their net worth adopted by many wealthy individuals.
According to the
Menlo Park Almanac, the couple has also made gifts to Santa Clara University, Mary Stevens’ alma mater, and the Palo Alto Medical Foundation.
How long has Stevens been involved with the Warriors? Stevens became a minority owner of the Warriors in 2013, when he purchased the stake in the team held by current Sacramento Kings principal owner Vivek Ranadive.
S-Cubed Capital did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
