This will be a fail because Ms Marvel was never a relevant character. I know some will say neither was TS on GOG but they had a bigger following them MS Marvel. Should just had this as Rogue tie in to X-men.

Disagree completely

The kamala harris captain marvel IS HUGE. HUGE with young girls and internationally.

And this version is HER hero

So its all tying in

And she bigger than gog

Just the NAME captain marvel rings bells with non comic book fans

They think shazam or some guy from marvel comics...but don't matter the name resonates

Its broken pre order sales. Hell they got groups going the first week.

My daughter class already got tix.

But we will see soon enough

'Captain Marvel' Tracking for Marvelous $100M-Plus Debut

Box Office Updates

Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel is tracking to open to a marvelous $100 million-plus in North America, the biggest box-office debut since Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom stomped to $148 million last summer.

Marvel and Disney's first female-fronted superhero pic stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot who is infused with special powers before finding herself at the center of battle between two alien worlds that threatens Earth.

Captain Marvel is set to bow three weeks from now on March 8. Rival studios with access to tracking say metrics for the film are "giant," including unaided awareness and definite interest.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the tentpole is the 21st film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and hopes to match the success of DC's Wonder Woman, directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot. Wonder Woman opened to $103.3 million domestically in June 2017 on its way to amassing $821.8 million globally, including $412.6 million in North America.

The last Marvel MCU movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp, opened domestically to $75.8 million in July 2018. That was preceded by Avengers: Endgame with a massive $257.7 in late April of last year, and Black Panther with $202 million two months prior in February.

Captain Marvel co-stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Annette Bening, Jude Law, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan and Clark Gregg.

Captain Marvel' Is Already Being Review Bombed on Rotten Tomatoes

Captain Marvel may be one of 2019's most-anticipated movies -- coming in second only behind Avengers: Endgame according to IMDb, but that isn't stopping some people on the internet from trashing the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Film on Rotten Tomatoes just a few weeks before it debuts in theaters.

A quick look at the audience reviews page for Captain Marvel over on Rotten Tomatoes has been flooded with negative, angry "reviews" of the film and while there are some genuine comments noting excitement for the film, most have an unsettling common theme: anger about Captain Marvel being centered around a female hero.

A disproportionate number of comments on the review page cite issues with a perception that Captain Marvel is "sexist" for a variety of reasons including but not limited to the gender of primary hero, star Brie Larson's backing of a campaign to send under privileged girls to see Captain Marvel, and generally a number of trolls complaining that the film is a "social justice warrior" or "SJW" film. Some have even gone so far as to lodge the same complaints about Captain Marvel -- which, again, won't hit theaters for another few weeks and first reactions to the film aren't set to debut until tomorrow -- as a certain subset of "fans" did about Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Sadly, this isn't the first time a swath of “fans” have attempted to sabotage a new Marvel film. Last February there was an organized effort by disgruntled fans to attack Black Panther with false negative reviews. While those "fans" claimed that their efforts were essentially revenge for poor reviews of Justice League and anger over Star Wars: The Last Jedi, many of the attacks cited complaints about Black Panther being centered around a black superhero. Now, with the false reviews of Captain Marvel also attacking the concept of diversity, be it gender or race-related -- it feels a bit like a pattern.

Of course, there's a positive pattern that could emerge from all of this. Despite the attempted sabotage, Black Panther is the ninth biggest movie at the worldwide box office, with a gross of over $1.3 billion. The film has also been nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture -- the first superhero movie to ever be nominated in that category. When it comes to Captain Marvel, the film is currently tracking for a $120 million opening weekend and while that would be a bit shy of Black Panther's four-day holiday weekend take last year, it puts it ahead of Iron Man ($98 million) Spider-Man: Homecoming ($117 million) and in contention with Iron Man 2 ($128 million) -- movies which were all considered very much a success.

What do you think about the fake reviews being posted to Rotten Tomatoes about Captain Marvel? Let us know in the comments below.

Brie Larson Wants More Diversity On Captain Marvel Press Tour
by FRANCISCO SOLANO OLARTE on FEBRUARY 16, 2019

Cap-Marvel.jpg
Actress Brie Larson wants less white men on her Captain Marvel press tour to foster diversity while promoting the upcoming superhero film.

While speaking to Marie Claire about Captain Marvel and the message she’s trying to ultimately convey with the film, Brie Larson spoke about which audience she and Marvel Studios are trying to reach. According to the film’s star, Captain Marvel should be seen as a movie that empowers women all over the world. Brie Larson insisted that even though she’s not against 40-year-old white men reviewing the film and asking her questions during the press tour, she would much rather have women of different ethnicities in the mix as well:

“About a year ago, I started paying attention to what my press days looked like and the critics reviewing movies, and noticed it appeared to be overwhelmingly white male. So, I spoke to Dr Stacy Smith at the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, who put together a study to confirm that. Moving forward, I decided to make sure my press days were more inclusive. After speaking with you, the film critic Valerie Complex and a few other women of colour, it sounded like across the board they weren’t getting the same opportunities as others. When I talked to the facilities that weren’t providing it, they all had different excuses.’”

Brie Larson is backing her decision in a study made by the University of Southern California’s Annenberg Inclusion Initiative which examined the race or ethnicity of every Rotten Tomatoes review of 2017’s 100 highest-grossing movies. The study showed that out of 19,559 reviews, white women only wrote 18.1%, men of color wrote 13.8% and 4.1% were from women of color. This leaves us with a whopping 63.9% reviews written by white men.

Captain Marvel Has Screened, Here Are The Early Reactions
The first screenings of Captain Marvel were held tonight in advance of the movie’s domestic press junket, and, as is normal for Marvel Studios titles, the social media embargo has already been lifted. I’m excited to say that I was in the theater for one of these showings, and I shared my feelings in the following Tweet, highlighting both the fun approach to the origin story that the film takes, as well as the wonderful presence of star Brie Larson:

I'm actually pulling for this movie

But these seem forced

So I wasn't a fan of the choice of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel....I felt she came across as too mild mannered for the character. However it is funny to watch a lot of white comic movie fans get PISSED that a woman let comic movie was coming out. Now I know this movie will do well cause it will get the same reaction that WW got....women will come out for it in droves. I know I already plan to take my 9 yr old daughter to see it.

I don’t even get the hate over Captain Marvel... it’s not like chick is a new character..
