Marvel had a history, pre Black Panther, of the main character having a minority best friend/sidekick....Rhodes, Falcon, the fatHispanic kid from Spiderman, the fat weirdo from Deadpool 2.
What I mean is that it looked forced to me, like...Let's create a part as a sidekick and cover the bases of a minority and female all in one character. Maybe I'm looking too deeply though and I hope the character is more than just a sidekick.
