Fuck a Latino or Muslim for that matter (90% of Muslims voted for Bush in 2000 and are some of the most racists, CAC loving people on this planet.). Trump ran a campaign based around "Mexicans" being rapists and then won more Latino Votes than McCain or Romney. Language is not an ethnicity; there are plenty of black people all over Central and South America. We need to look at history and realize that Italians, Irish, "Catholics" and the rest of the Eastern Europeans didn't start off being "white" in America, but became white after a generation or two. Look at the prominent Latinos in Congress: Nunes, Franks, Cruz. We are the demographic most directly impacted by illegal immigration and yet we fight the hardest for these illegal fucks. Sorry for the stream of consciousness rant, but this shit really gets me going.
I would never criticize individuals who decide not to vote.
I have and will continue to call out any well-known YouTube talking head "leaders" who have tens of thousands of followers listening to them: Boyce, Tariq, Umar etc who came along during the general election and told Black folks not to vote.
Any of those people had 4 years to:
- group together and find a candidate that represents US, prepare him or her to run, then urge all of us to back that candidate
- look at what common challenges Blacks and Latinos face and make sure that candidate reps our common interests (for the numbers)
- start or join a movement fighting against Voter ID, redistricting, caging, cross-checking and other methods of election fraud used to suppress the Black vote and kill the Voting Rights Bill
- start or join a movement working to eliminate the Electoral College method of electing a President - in favor of election by popular vote instead.
- organize to fight for severe limits on campaign financing toward having true multi-party elections instead of it always narrowing down to a Repub and Dem candidate
...But instead they come along at the eleventh hour telling Black folks not to vote.
If in the 4 years prior to the current election those talking heads were not actively engaged in any of the above, then they needed to have shut the fuck up.
And then a number of the same discouraged people from being part of Black Lives Matter? Repeating lies about George Soros that were invented by white supremacists and could easily be proven false? Why lie to suppress a Movement?
Perhaps we need to rethink whether or not they are worth taking seriously. Perhaps even question if they are in someone's back pocket.

Have to understand that not all "Latinos" are Mexicans, though...I work with a lot of Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, etc. who want to ride that whole "assimilation" train, and are PROUD to be American and pledge allegiance to the flag, etc. Just last week, one of my co-workers was drilling to a bunch of middle schoolers of how insulting it was to her, as the wife of an American military serviceman, to see students not stand for the pledge...shit was sickening.
