they almost KILLED that man over that...

and I posted a podcast why he aint saying sh*t about this particular situation

Whites were mad as fuck but they couldn't do shit. How could you when you have a professional baseball team doing the same thing. He was perfectly shielded and knew it. He triggered people with it, but he knew nothing would happen. But we're also in more extreme times right now Post-Trump win.

That was brilliant. Any negative response at this proved his point and made you a hypocrite.

ESPN Asked Bomani Jones to Cover Up the "Caucasians" Shirt He Wore on Mike & Mike

Bomani Jones was filling in for Mike Golic on Mike & Mike this morning. He honored Golic’s heritage by wearing a “Caucasians” shirt, based on the Cleveland Indians shirt and Chief Wahoo logo, but with a $ replacing the feathers. (If you want your own version, by the way, they are made by Shelf Life Clothing Company).

According to TMZ, “ESPN freaked out” when they saw the shirt, and asked that he covered up.

We reached out to Bomani Jones to see if he had any response to the report that ESPN asked him to cover up the shirt. He responded with “no comment.”

An ESPN spokesperson provided the following when asked if Jones was requested to cover up the shirt:

“As the show progressed, we felt Bomani made his point and had openly discussed why he was wearing the shirt, and we wanted to keep the focus to the topics of the day.”

Jones did not fully cover up the shirt at any point in the show; he did partially zip up his hooded sweatshirt.

I remember this situation clearly. Asking him to cover it up is way different than saying "this was inappropriate blah blah blah". They didn't throw him under bus like they did Jemele.

And a question I would ask him is this...

would he wear the same shirt NOW?

If they kill the show, I'm done with ESPN.

I already am limited to The 6, Jalen and Jacoby and PTI for ESPN content. Killing the station completely, won't be that much of a loss I guess.

If he were a black woman he'd be getting called a bedwench for having a white spouse and therefore all this touted as no surprise. As it is, I expect BGOL's love of WW to bypass all that and pivot to his religion as he makes regular appearances on TBN and CBN.

You're saying this like people in this thread (that I don't have on ignore) gave him props of some kind. He was insulted and dismissed by everyone who addressed him in this thread. TBH, I didn't even know he had a white wife nor that he made appearances on TBN and CBN until you typed it.

If he was a black woman, guys would have searched for pictures of her because that's what heterosexual males tend to do when we find a woman at least somewhat attractive. Some of those pictures would contain the hypothetical white husband and mixed kids.

I'm not sure what type of responses you wanted to see in response to his comments.

I was just making an observation.

Jemele Hill tweet raises questions about journalistic ‘objectivity’

Viewers of ESPN’s 6 p.m. “SportsCenter” on Wednesday would not necessarily have known that anything extraordinary happened that day. Jemele Hill took her usual place alongside co-host Michael Smith, and the two kicked off the show with a discussion of the red-hot Cleveland Indians before offering their takes on other sports topics.

Hill, though, was in the midst of a very public furor over her criticism Monday of President Trump, which in turn had White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders telling reporters Wednesday that Hill’s comments constituted “a fireable offense.” The network, which had already distanced itself from Hill’s depiction of Trump as “a white supremacist,” has not fired Hill, but a report claimed that ESPN did try to take Hill off the air Wednesday.

[As the White House calls for her firing, ESPN’s Jemele Hill addresses the ‘elephant in the room’]

According to ThinkProgress, which Thursday cited “two sources familiar with the situation,” the sports network “reached out to two other black ESPN hosts,” Michael Eaves and Elle Duncan, to take Hill’s place that evening. They declined, and Smith reportedly also refused to do the show without Hill.

Confronted with a situation in which it might have to replace both Hill and Smith with white hosts, ESPN asked her to join him on the air, per ThinkProgress. The pair also hosted Thursday’s 6 p.m. “SportsCenter.”

statement from ESPN earlier in the day that said, “Jemele has a right to her personal opinions, but not to publicly share them on a platform that implies that she was in any way speaking on behalf of ESPN. She has acknowledged that her tweets crossed that line and has apologized for doing so. We accept her apology.”

On Wednesday evening, several hours after her “SportsCenter” appearance, Hill posted a message on Twitter to, as she put it, “address the elephant in the room.” She said, “My comments on Twitter expressed my personal beliefs. My regret is that my comments and the public way I made them painted ESPN in an unfair light. My respect for the company and my colleagues remains unconditional.”

Shortly before that tweet, Hill posted another one in which she shared a photo of herself with some ESPN colleagues, including Eaves. She expressed happiness that her “brothers” from the National Association of Black Journalists “came to check” on her.

“Yesterday was a hard and unusual day, with a number of people interpreting the day without a full picture that happened,” Rob King, a “SportsCenter” executive, said to ThinkProgress on Thursday. “In the end, ultimately, Michael and Jemele appearing on the show last night and doing the show the way they did is the outcome we always desired.”

Saying, “I love Jemele and consider her a friend, and she has many here,” veteran ESPN anchor Bob Ley told Sports Illustrated, “I’m well aware a number of folks will agree with the substance of her comments while others will reject them just as readily. You can love the sinner and hate the sin. It clearly was not a proper use of a company-provided megaphone. There are important responsibilities that come with the many perks, and chief among those these days is realizing your words carry the weight of your platform. You speak for more than yourself.”

The firestorm involving Hill began Monday evening, when she tweeted that the musician Kid Rock, who has been mulling a run for the U.S. Senate, “pandered to racists” by using the Confederate flag. That led to a discussion with other Twitter users in which she said, “Donald Trump is a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists.”

“I’m not sure he’s aware,” Huckabee Sanders said Wednesday of Trump, “but I think that’s one of the more outrageous comments that anyone could make and certainly something that I think is a fireable offense by ESPN.”

ESPN denies report it tried to pull Jemele Hill off the air Wednesday

ESPN has released a statement on Jemele Hill's string of tweets Monday in which she ripped Donald Trump. Time_Sports

ESPN is denying that it attempted to remove Jemele Hill from Wednesday's SportsCenter.

A report from Think Progress, citing sources, said that the network wanted to replace Hill for the show, but her co-host Michael Smith refused to go on without her. It then reported that the network thought about going with Michael Eaves and Elle Duncan to host the show, but the two did not agree to do it.
Thursday evening, ESPN communications manager Chris LaPlaca tweeted that the network "never asked any other anchors to do last night's show. Period."

Hill became the focus of controversy when she sent out several tweets Monday nightcalling President Donald Trump a white supremacist who surrounds himself with other white supremacists, then responding to a series of tweets to people who attacked what she said.

Eaves tweeted a cryptic message Wednesday night that was included in the Think Progress report.

Hill tweeted Wednesday that her comments were her "personal beliefs" and that her "regret is that my comments and the public way I made them painted ESPN in an unfair light."
