Dana White Says Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor Fight Drew 6.5M PPV Buys

:money:

UFC President Dana White said Saturday's boxing match in Las Vegas between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor drew 6.5 million pay-per-view buys in a conversation posted on Instagram by Mike Dyce of Sports Illustrated (warning: contains NSFW language):

White offered the number during a conversation with Urijah Faber and Snoop Dogg. Dave Meltzer of MMA Fighting noted White was likely referring to the worldwide figure—not the number of buys in North America.

Mayweather vs. McGregor is also "expected to be the most successful streaming pay-per-view event of all time, even with the issues UFC.tv had the night of the show and refunds they have agreed to offer," per Meltzer.

Meltzer reported the "traditional" PPV numbers are expected to top those from the 2015 Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight in the United Kingdom, Canada and Ireland—but "not necessarily" in the United States.

The North American numbers are most important for the overall gross because it was $99.95 here, while cheaper prices were available elsewhere in the world. Mayweather-Pacquiao did 4.6 million pay-per-view buys in North America and 5.5 million worldwide.

Mayweather vs. McGregor is also "expected to be the most successful streaming pay-per-view event of all time, even with the issues UFC.tv had the night of the show and refunds they have agreed to offer," per Meltzer.

McGregor lasted 10 rounds in his first professional boxing match, but Money won by technical knockout to become the only boxer with a perfect 50-0 record.

Despite the fact that all three fights have Floyd in common, many will continue to credit his opponents with the record-breaking success of those fights. Time to give that man credit where it's due: there's not another cash cow in sports like Money Mayweather.

NOW white people will laugh off the idea of an all-time champion in competition with a first-time challenger to the sport.

he using the howard stern method..more people pay to watch him lose than to watch him win..he took the bad guy role and embrace it..fuck take lemons and making it to lemonade that nig created health stores, remedies, and sold juice by the truckload off lemons

If these numbers are true and I believe they are Floyd needs to give Connor an immediate rematch. The next fight will sell at least four million pay-per-views....he will make another easy hundred million plus it's a no-brainer

Yep, do him like he did Maidana: dumb down his style for a while, let the slugger look decent before running the table in the first fight, then mop the floor with him in the rematch. Easy money.

the true loser in this was adrien broner.. i told everybody he was suppose to be floyd real 50th fight..but broner had to go out and lose twice and fucked everything up..they was gonna use the friendenemies angle and have fake beef between them.. make it a big bro vs lil bro match.. throw some the only person that wet toe to toe with mayweather in sparring was broner... have him be like i kno may every move and i beat him a few times off record but this time its gona be for real..push the 50 and 0..man they was gonna hype the fuck out that..broner fucked it up

That fight would not have made this much money and would not have even registered on the Richter Scale.

nah it would've made money..50 and 0 up for grabs... two undefeateds goin head to head.. big bro vs lil bro .. claiming broner actually beat him a few times would've got all the mayweather haters hype.. mayweather calling broner a cheap imitation of him.. fake tussles during interviews and weight in's truss nigs would've fell for the hype.. mayweather fought a cac who never boxed b4 in his life sold 6.5 million payperviews that rite there shows u how dumb people can get..no way this rocky and hogan fight should've ever taken place but it did and it sold.. think mcgregor will go down in the record books for making the most money ever for a 1 time fighter.. name a boxer who made 1 mill his first fight?? mc gregor made 100 times dat

The largest UFC PPV was UFC 100 and it drew 1.6 million buys. UFC doesn't usually disclose how many buys there PPV's get though.

UFC 100 did 1.3, Conor has the record for his rematch with Diaz...
