Game Of Thrones: The Sopranos with swords or Dynasty in chainmail?

You gotta peep the DVD special features....talks abot the Lord of Light and the Doom of Valeria and MUCH more than the show itself...you get backstories on EVERYTHING...from Littlefinger's upbringing to why Davos is called the 'Onion Knight'.
Davos did explain the name the season him and Stanus attacked Kings Landing

When did this show start explaining anything? Who is the Lord of light and Why did he bring Jon back to life? What happened to old Valeria?
There are 100s of GOT channels on youtube that explain everything from the Age of Heroes, major and minor houses, the dance of the dragons, Robert's rebellion, to Asoiaf. I recommend "Secrets of the Citadel". Its a British woman who has the best videos on everything GOT, and her doom of Valeria video doesn't disappoint

Well technically Valyria isn't a part of the show and it's largely explained in the book. The Lord of light is religion. No more explainable than our religion. I mean explaining events that happen.

The People Behind Game of Thrones Admit This Week's Rescue Timeline Didn't Quite Work

wzeidkqrtpuxih3mp816.jpg

The most recent episode of Game of Thrones, “Beyond the Wall,” was one of the most divisive in recent memory. Much of that was because of the highly questionable timeline linking the group in the North with Daenerys, who was much further South.

In a new interview Alan Taylor, a veteran Game of Thrones director who came back to do “Beyond the Wall,” discussed the timeline and admitted it didn’t quite work.

Here’s Taylor speaking to Variety:

We were aware that timing was getting a little hazy. We’ve got Gendry running back, ravens flying a certain distance, dragons having to fly back a certain distance…In terms of the emotional experience, [Jon and company] sort of spent one dark night on the island in terms of storytelling moments. We tried to hedge it a little bit with the eternal twilight up there north of The Wall. I think there was some effort to fudge the timeline a little bit by not declaring exactly how long we were there. I think that worked for some people, for other people it didn’t. They seemed to be very concerned about how fast a raven can fly but there’s a thing called plausible impossibilities, which is what you try to achieve, rather than impossible plausibilities. So I think we were straining plausibility a little bit, but I hope the story’s momentum carries over some of that stuff.

Hey, at least he admits it. There are probably people out there who would vehemently defend the timeline no matter what (and Reddit’s already figured out how it could technically work). But Taylor’s reasoning at least feels honest. Either you were entertained and didn’t care, do care and were annoyed, or are somewhere in between.

By the way, this whole season has been riddled with these Portal-esque jumps in time and place. Jon to Dragonstone. Arya to Winterfell, Tyrion to King’s Landing, etc. This just so happens to be the most egregious because of the freezing men sitting on a cold stump waiting for a dragon to save them from thousands of miles away.

The seventh season of Game of Thrones ends Sunday.

Is the reason for rushing the last season because they didn't want to pay the actors more money? We could have easily got two more full seasons.

What George R.R. Martin Told a Game of Thrones Director About Jon Snow and Daenerys Way Back in Season 1

Game of Thrones.

This season of Game of Thrones has answered some viewers' prayers with a long-anticipated meeting between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen — and subsequent growth in their relationship with each episode.

And Sunday's penultimate episode of Thrones clearly showed that a romantic relationship is blossoming between the two, with both of them making grave sacrifices for the other and an emotional moment at the end of the episode where they held hands.

But years ago during the filming of the show's first season, director Alan Taylor — responsible for Sunday's episode and the penultimate episode in season one where Ned Stark was executed — learned directly from George R.R. Martin that Jon and Daenerys' relationship was perhaps the driving force behind the entire enterprise.

"When we were shooting Season 1 and no one had seen the show yet, we were in Malta. Back then, there was not a lot of secrecy because nobody was paying attention, and George R.R. Martin came to visit and he was being quite open about his plans," Taylor told the New York Times.

"He said something: That it really is all about Dany and Jon. I was surprised because at the time, you know, I thought, well Robb Stark’s going to be king next, probably," he continued. "And who knows where this story’s going? But it was absolutely clear to him that within this sprawling scale the whole story was coming down to this partnership."

And while the romance between the two heroes hasn't yet been explicitly stated on the series, Taylor confirmed that viewers have something to look forward to.

"But yeah, it's gonna happen," he told the Times.

Perhaps their romance isn't as pure as some would expect. Last season the show revealed that Jon is not Ned Stark's illegitimate son, rather the son of Ned's sister Lyanna. And fans have theorized — and the show has heavily hinted — that Jon's father is Rhaegar Targaryen, who is Daenerys' eldest brother.

When asked about "the incest thing" between the two of them, Taylor said: "Oh, you know, it’s worked for Cersei and Jaime. Nothing went wrong there."

The finale of Game of Thrones' seventh season airs Aug. 27 at 9 p.m. on HBO.

Here's the Epic Title of Game of Thrones Season 7 Finale

Game of Thrones.

The highly-anticipated season seven finale of Game of Thrones finally has a name, and it's certainly an intriguing one. Dubbed "The Dragon and the Wolf," the nearly 80-minute episode will be the longest in Thrones history and looks to feature almost every major character coming together for the first time at a summit in King's Landing.

Something I just saw in a fan video, is that before the night King had sort of a burnt looking face. And after he touched Bran, he has bran's face now.

They think Bran might be intertwined mentally with him and doesn't know it. Like He could be the night King.

I love this entry from Reddit regarding the timeline of raven express and Danny's rescue flight

Even simpler would be to insert a scene where Danny keeps doubting her decision to send Jon and others on the raid, finally her conscience forces her to fly North so she can help them. And when she gets to Eastwatch, that's when Gendry comes running, tells her the direction the rest are in and then she flies. Much more believable.

That would have solved all that timeline mess and been just as plausible in terms of Dany's character.

If he is he'll tell Jon when he sees him otherwise he's not the night king.

He touched the 3 eyed raven (Bran ) so that's allowed him to sense Bran as well as get past all of the magic's the children of the forest had in place.
Bran is scared of the king for that fact, that he knows he can interact with him when he's having his visions.

Let's do the numbers on "Game of Thrones"
By Jana Kasperkevic

On average, it now takes about $10 million to film each episode of Game of Thrones. - Image via GameofThrones/YouTube
The penultimate season of “Game of Thrones” — a popular HBO show based on George R. R. Martin’s book series, “A Song of Ice and Fire” — is well underway. The show premiered on HBO in 2011. By 2014, it had surpassed “The Sopranos” as the most popular HBO series when it reached 20 million viewers. Last year, in its sixth season, the show had a record-breaking 25.7 million viewers per episode across all platforms if you account for delayed viewers, according to Variety.

The seventh season premiere broke two more records when 16.1 million total viewers tuned in at the time of the broadcast and sent 2.4 million tweets while watching the show. That’s a 50 percent increase from last year’s premiere viewership.

Those viewership numbers don't come cheap. Thanks to high production values and expensive talent, it takes a whole lot of money to create a season of “Game of Thrones.”

Let's do the numbers on the number one show in the world:

Not only is the show popular — it is also expensive

Back in its earlier seasons, an average “Game of Thrones” episode cost about $6 million to make. That’s compared to the $2 million per episode that it takes to produce most cable shows. In its second season, “Game of Thrones” raised eyebrows when an episode called Blackwater cost $8 million, according to Business Insider.

Those battle scenes don’t come cheap

Bigger budgets seemed to be the norm by the beginning of the last seasons. The sixth season had a budget of $100 million for 10 episodes, breaking down to about $10 million per episode. The most expensive episode of that season, “Bastards,” was the one with the largest battle scene yet. According to an Entertainment Weekly report, it took 600 crew members, 500 extras, 160 tons of gravel, 70 horses, 25 stunt performers, 4 camera crews and 25 days of shooting to make.

Nor do the nude scenes

According to a 2014 TMZ report, Cersei’s walk of shame (or walk of atonement) cost $50,000 a day for four days. In an effort to keep the scene under wraps the producers hired more than 200 security guards, banned cell phones and threatened potential leakers with a $250,000 lawsuit.

A paycheck worthy of the Queen of Dragons

One of the main expenses for the show is its talent. Actors Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau all signed a particularly advantageous contract for the last two seasons of the show. In addition to getting their $1.1 million salary per episode, they will also collect a percentage of syndication payments paid whenever the show is aired in 170 countries, according to Express.

It’s all about location, location, location

The one area where the show has gotten a bit of a discount is on its filming locations. According to a recent Fortune article: “Northern Ireland Screen agency has invested $18.28 million so far in the show. The result, the agency says, is that ‘Game of Thrones’ has brought more than $224 million to the area in the form of filming expenses, tourism, and more.”

Iceland and Croatia have also benefited by being selected as filming locations for the show.

In Iceland, as many as 250 crew members, actors and extras work on the show, according to Pegasus, a production company contracted by HBO in that country. About 500 rental cars and 3,000 hotel rooms were used during filming in 2011 and 2012, the company told CNBC.

“Game of Thrones”-inspired booze

It’s not just tourism that has seen a boost from the show. Back in 2013, HBO partnered with Ommegang Brewery to release a “Game of Thrones”-inspired beer called Iron Throne Blonde Ale. The 14,000 cases that were produced sold out right away. Since then, the partnership has led to other beers including:

  • Take the Black, a stout
  • Fire and Blood, a red ale
  • Three-Eyed Raven, a dark saison
  • Seven Kingdoms, a hoppy wheat ale
  • Valar Morghulis and Valar Dohaeris, a dubbel and tripel ale

This season, fans can buy Bend the Knee Golden Ale and Winter is Here beer. Also, Fire and Blood will be re-released this fall, according to the brewery.

… and other paraphernalia

Recently, an avid fan of the show spent $27,000 on a cake featuring the character Tyrion Lannister sitting on the Iron Throne. According to the bakery that made the cake, it weighed 70 pounds.

It’s not just food and booze, either. After fans of the show expressed interest in buying jewelry worn by Daenerys, the Mother of Dragons, the show’s three jewelry designers started their own online shop, according to Time magazine. Their pieces cost anywhere from $100 to a couple of thousand dollars.

Yeah i saw a video where they were saying that. Bran(the three eyed raven) might be the night king and also bran the builder(the guy that helped build the wall with the children) but i think that would be reaching.

I think Bran is the Night King.....
  • That's why the Night King knows whenever Bran is greenseeing in his vicinity.
  • The children when asked who they needed protection from said "YOU" and men to Bran in the cave

I think Bran is the Night King.....
  • That's why the Night King knows whenever Bran is greenseeing in his vicinity.
  • The children when asked who they needed protection from said "YOU" and men to Bran in the cave
  • Game of Thrones introduced the hero(Jamie) and villain(Bran) in episode 1 Season 1 with a twist

So if Bran is the Night King will he tell Jon and force Jon to kill him? Will that be the bigger twist if it is so?
Will Jon go Ned and refuse to do it and such condemn man to death?
Also he needs to find out about his family. Once he goes digging because several people have brought up how he don't look nothing like Ned in the past few weeks to his face once he gets a minute he has to think about that shit.

...several people have brought up how he don't look nothing like Ned...

I forgot who it was...but what was weird is someone said he looked like his mother but I think the conversation was interrupted before jon could say anything...I think it was this past ep...can't remember tho been a week since I watched it...it was either in this ep or the previous one

*edit*

ok...nvm...it was beric...I thought he said it more definitively but it was more so you probably look like your mother since you don't look like ned

It was this past episode however the guy wasn't referring to Jon real mother he didn't give a hint as to him having any idea who she was just that he didn't look like Jon. the conversation didn't get interrupted Jon asked him if he knew his father and that conversation turned into the conversation about God and death and then protecting life being enough of a purpose to understand.

Very informative

This season was a joke, and to read some of you go full retard explaining this dumb ass season
Plot holes all over the place
so much wasted time showing people walking , running, or just the camera panning at rocks

it is a bit of a stretch (no pun intended)...I like it tho and it may have some legs...it'd be dope as fuck if it turned out to be the case
It would be kind of lame imo. A bit of a let down. Almost cliche to make it all one big full circle of fuckery. It would also require a heavy time travel element and most stories just always start to get a bit outlandish the further they delve into time travel. Its clear they are gonna have more time jumps and Bran interference (see Hodor) but I hope that isnt the reveal we are working towards.
