What would it take for you to boycott the NFL and its sponsors?

Im already there.

Didn't need Kaepernick to let me know how completely fucked and racist they are...

Can you explain why, speak loudly so us folks can hear you from your high horse. The NFL gets zero profit from my viewing habits.
Recorded or not it still counts as ratings sir.
And walking around with a bootleg jersey on still promotes, and says " hey I still watch the NFL"

But whatevs. Do you bruh

All it takes for me is one player whose signed to a team to boycott.

I'm not backing no one's play until I see they got skin the game.

My effort will match their effort and right now they ain't doing shit.

Go Texans....Go Pats

*two cents*

All it takes is one player for me fam.

He doesn't have to be a household name.

Just one with skin in the game.

the truth is this do you think if kap was talented as rodgers, brady, peyton would he be blackballed?? i believe the answer is no..if somebody like lebron, curry, kd did what kap did in the nba some team would still be willing to put them on their squad cause how good they are or the type of money they could generate..i personally think some teams in the nfl don't think his talent exceeds his controversy so that's why they not signing him..if he was consider top 3 qb's or was next level status i think he'd have a job rite now..some people skill level are on some i don't give a fuck what his negative attention bring i'm willing to put up with it and sign him, i juss think kap in their eyes is not 1 of those players

I am boycotting the NFL this year, but boycotting their sponsors would be damn near impossible. To do so one would practically have to give up

All dairy products
Credit/debit cards
Beer
Snacks
Fast food
Insurance
Cars
Gasoline (which also means boycotting out of town buses, aeroplanes, and all retail goods)
Overnight shipping (means no online shopping either)
Any live event that uses Ticket master

And that's just the league wide sponsors. There's also the television and radio network sponsors, companies that buy as space in the stadiums. You could literally leave the United States and STILL be supporting NFL sponsors.

Hopefully these people will get the message once the Superbowl posts it's lowest ratings in 30 years

Fans who boycott the game are not going to do much harm to the league sadly.

They make their money off viewership, ticket sales and sponsorship.

As soon as one fan (or a group) fails to renew their season tickets, another fan is willing to buy in.

They made their money already through sponsorships and network deals are already in place.

Said it in another thread, the players are the ones that need to be in the forefront of making changes. Once they start refusing to play, then you'll see changes happen.

Outside of viewership and ticket sales, how does a fan boycott work?

I've been "boycotted" the NFL but in different ways.

I live in a different market than my favorite team and pretty much stream games online.

I haven't been to a live NFL game since 2010 and haven't bought a jersey since 2005ish...and I bought that joint at Marshall's.

I hardly watch TNF or MNF unless my team is playing.

I will watch Post season though.

My concerns right here. ^^^^

How much of a impact can our boycott have?

If we all boycotted, the NFL would still remain largely successful, even without black support.

I'm with the boycott.

However, for the boycott to really kick ass the franchise players of these teams would have to take a stand to really make a statement.

But they won't even support Kap, apparently the owners have put the fear of God in them.

So how can we make this boycott more successful and draw the necessary attention to do the necessary harm to the league for them to reconsider what they are doing to Kap and their ideas about standing up to social injustice (what I believe the boycott is really about)

I said that off rip. It's the same reason why Queen Beckham can do everything short of being caught with a dick in his mouth a everyone looks the other way all the while Michael Sam got bounced out the league right after preseason. It wasn't that Michael Sam wasn't good, he wasn't good enough to be Michael Sam - kissing his boyfriend on National Television. Queen Beckham is 'I catch balls off the field too' good.

Same thing with Kaep. If Kaep had Brady's resume or Cam Newton playmaking ability, he could have worn steel toed Doc Marten's, a black leather kufi, and a T-shirt that said "Fuck you. Pay me...Reparations" and everyone would analyzed what he said as he got ready for week one.

But that ain't the case.

I'm a lifelong Raiders fan and they are finally going to be Contender this year and they are moving out of Oakland soon. That said, this Kaep thing is just too disrespectful. The NFL made such a big deal about abuse and had players crying on TV to speak about it. But OUR issues? They not only stay silent, but punish a player who nonviolently protested it. It is analogous to the US Olympic team cutting Jesse Owens. So to answer the question, i'm not supporting the NFL. I'm not watching any games, not going to the games, not buying any memorabilia, and avoiding the obvious sponsors when I can.

I wish I could being up all those posts from a couple of years ago when I and a few others were called everything from gay to stick to watching ballet and gymnastics because we no longer watched games. I personally stopped watching...

*NFL's handling of the Ray Rice incident. They try to throw dude under a bus even when he was being completely honest about that incident with his now wife.

*The Concussion Controversy. Fuckers are still trying to skirt from that one. It's obvious the NFL and team owners don't care about their players.

*The Grandfather's death. This was a personal one. Because we watched Football together (or whenever I would visit) since the late 60s. After he passed, I was kind of done.

Now add Kaepernick to the list. If it's not obvious, that some of US are stuck on stupid.

All these Black Players, office peeps, and fans. And most of US aren't even mentally prepared to handle a simple boycott. No wonder we are a laughing stock and not taken seriously.

Some of the blame has to go to the players union. They've allowed the owners to control them in every situation, they complain about Roger Goodell having too much power yet they signed off on it.

What union signs a 10 year CBA outside the NFLPA and then complain about not having guaranteed contracts, having money like the NBA and etc.Ryan Clark(who was the Steelers player representative at the time.) was the only person, who was against the signing.

And, when a situation like Kap's comes up, the owners know the NFLPA won't do anything because they know most of the players care about getting their money.

At the end of the day, a player sacrificed his all for the right for Black men and women to not get their heads blown off by police officers.

The least that I can do is not break bread with people who have white balled him.
But that's just me.

Does the world not see the obvious racism in this.

That's racism.

This... I dont care if it solves anything or not. To me, the shits about the principle. To me, theyre telling me that we dont matter, our issues dont matter. Only appeasing their lily white fans and their white sponsors. Im not supporting that shit cause theyve told me they dont want fans like me. But it seems like some of the fam are making justifications to keep watching. And thats cool, its a hard habit to break. 25 plus years Ive been watching the NFL, Ill miss it. But goddamn man what will we boycott??? Who has to say what in order for us to be unified on something???

I said something similar a few days ago.At some point, as a community, we gotta say enough is an enough.

This is the reason, why white folks get away with shit, because we let shit slide all the time. When something happens to us, we want to be on this praying bullshit hoping it will go away and it's not going to happen.

I don't even watch the regular season, so it wouldn't take much for me.

I wonder what the participation will be like in the BGOL football pool this year-- Depending on your perspective, it morphs into a virtual handcheck thread of sorts.

Yeah, even the people that are disagreeing with the boycott will freely admit that the NFL is racist. Their position is that their entertainment is a priority though. Personally, i think it is shameful to have that position. Its not JUST the Kaepernick issue, but the NFL as a a franchise and its partners. I watched that series "Last Chance U" and it is sad as hell watching these grown men who are severely uneducated kiss these redneck Mississippi CACs asses just for a shot at a college to hopefully get in the NFL. These people treat these men like charity cases just to exploit them for Football income. They exploited players in turn are dependent on them because of their hope to go to a D1 program to get further exploited for millions. Then a small percentage "might" got to the NFL where they have to kiss more ass. Out of all the sports in the world, the NBA and NFL are the two with the most "discipline". You never hear of MLB players going to the "commissioners office" to beg for leniency.

What would it take?

Black people are so silly there would literally have to be a public service announcement by Roger Goodell or another white person screaming from a mountain top "we don't care about your feelings, you're nothing but entertainment to us, so fuck y'all"

And then maybe we'd get it.

I'm gonna give it everything I have to not watch. Gonna be difficult, but even it doesn't generate much, it's a start.

I've stated this in several threads on this issue but this brotha needs our help full stop. Whether it works or doesn't, we as black people need to step up and leave our over indulgent ways for once.

i don't even know why it's even a debate. they are being boycotted as well as the companies that sponsor them over this way.

It would take nothing, there's so much to do on Sundays, I hardly watch other teams as it is right now except for the New York giants and somedays life gets in the way of watching them.

I hear you

and you right that it makes it so much MORE complicated because Kaep isn't a "raising star" anymore.

but damn you named HALL OF FAME QBs...of course it aint the same.

but these white folks out here cheating

a Black QB couldn't get away with the Trump stuff and concussion stuff like Brady or even the steroids with Payton or the pain killers and sexual harassment like Farve or Big Ben.

lord forbid fighting for Black Lives.

But I disagree with the overall...Cam and Russell have already been made to heel

That is for lack of a better term "bred" inot black QBs overall.

And then for the league to sign SIGNIFICANTLY lesser talent...

talent that will LOSE games and hurt the oh so important "chemistry" of the locker room?

It can't give you that one.

way too many white scrubs been signed these past few months...

way to many dudes out her with felonies, beating women etc...

and they LYING out here, go check Kaep numbers on that horrible team.

just in comparisons to the SCRUBS they signing.

and it was THEM \\not US

who said it was purely football related.

Till they said it wasn't.

So it doesn't matter his skill set.

These white folks are making sure these black men heel.

period
