It's not really a versus here. Roland was just asking the questions everyone wanted to know. It's an opportunity for Dr. Umar Johnson to explain himself.

Nah bruh, I feel exactly what he is saying. I have friends who married white women and vice versa, even though I still got love for them I will never understand it. You fight for your people but yet you decide to marry outside the people your are fighting for. Of course, this isn't the only thing holding us back as a people but it speaks volumes of where we are today as a people that we don't fight with each other 100%. Do I think you have an image issue if you do marry outside your race? Maybe. I'm not 100 on it but I can see how he feels that way. Look at TV and movies now! Roland isn't a full out coon per se, but he has been playing a dangerous racial tightrope act that folk are beginning to catch up to.

Dr. Umar is basically saying, it doesn't matter what you do, you always gonna go back to that white man or justify that white man or overlook what that white man does, in some form or fashion, because "the white man's ice is colder".
And it doesn't matter if you do good a thousand times, at the end of the day, you chose to end your day, your night, your LIFE, with something unlike to you.
And you know why? Because consciously, subconsciously or blatantly, you feel that "the white man's ice is colder".
It's kinda like a small crack in the concrete. Really nothing to it. Just a slight flaw.
But over time, it wears down. Wear & tear grinds the concrete down even more & that crack opens more.
Pretty soon, the concrete is still solid & standing strong but that small little crack, that flaw, is now an open chasm.
Now compare that to all those civil rights leaders that married white & you'll understand his point better than ever.
