It's a double edge sword for me.

Homies made major loot to help their families. The stories are fascinating, extravagant and successful, but at what cost? Our families , children, friends, died in this shit.

What I don't like is the cause. White people pressed down heavy(still are) on us and we had to survive. So, you PUT drugs in our neihborhoods, take away education, etc They tried to make us suffer then die. What do you expect us to do, but survive.

We survive! Remember that.

Its safe to say that 2 of the biggest mistakes that Ja Rule ever made in life were: 1. Turning down the chance be in 2 Fast 2 Furious (which wouldve led to his role in all the other movies) 2. Not shaking 50's hand.

I remember hearing a story where 50 bought a park on the same street as Ja's grandmothers and renamed after himself just to fuck with him!

But notice you never hear any stories of 50 getting extorted I mean someone would have talked

That's what pretty much separates him from everyone else in the industry, the so called goons not gonna test him because he's dealt with real killas and still here to yap about it

Because you have not heard about it does not mean it did not happen. 50 got to check in too. Especially out west. Jimmy Iovine and them probably took care of that for him.

Read everything. Interesting read.

Stuff could be a Hollywood movie. But maybe its good that it aint..since we live in a monkey see, monkey do society.

These few lines stood out the most:

"Alot of these dudes thought they were predators in the hood but most were really just prey for the government do not be fooled

I say that to say do not glorify none of this shit. Listen learn and dont let these dude’s deaths and imprisonment be taken in vain

These dudes were the direct descedants of the pro black civil rights generation that crackers infiltrated by dropping crack in their hoods"

I know some folks from cities mentioned may look at this type of stuff and be proud....but this type of shit aint nothing to brag on or be proud of. If you look at all the names mentioned, the mass majority who "made it in life" were the ones who paid the street niggas to do their dirty work....not the actual street niggas. The mass majority of the so called killers and "feared Men" that were mentioned failed at life; cause most of them are either dead or locked up. A lot of them probably had the clout and knowledge to run successful legal businesses, but.......

I totally agree with you about this could be a Hollywood movie, but this ain't nothing to be proud of because most of the characters involved are either dead or locked up (the New Jim Crow). What is really sad is that the government has a vested interest in our community repeating this behavior because they are able to benefit by increasing law enforcement and the prison industrial system.

What's even more sad is that we haven't as a whole moved past just surviving. We know what those folks in and out of government have planned for us. So why aren't we adapting and revolving?

This shit is common knowledge to must NY street dudes from back then.. 4 of my baby mom's brothers were preme team outta baisley.. but that ain't my business tho'.. if you know what I mean

This was an incredible read. ESPECIALLY since I JUST watched the Alpo story yesterday. That Wayne Perry nigga was a straight up Sociopath. Like Weebay, Bird, Chris, Stinkum, Snoop all rolled up in one.

Also, I had no idea Tyson really rolled with street dudes like that.

Also, Madonna? lol

Yeah man. Shit said Meech killed somebody over a girl. I had never heard of that before.

no dude (wolf) got himself killed by meech behind bitching over a girl...as the story goes he seen meech w/ an ex of his...caught feelings...approached meech...it led to a scuffle w/ him getting kicked out the club...him and another dude waited outside to light meech up...long story short he thought it was one way...the whole situation was stupid...but sounds like self defense on meech's end

It was that’s why the feds and police couldn’t do anything.. they were hoping it was murder but it was shown that Wolf was the aggressor. But by getting off the murder we ALL KNOW THE FEDS WERE ON MEECH HARD

The difference between them and the rich legal CEO was/is opportunity and the access to captial.
Let's be clear. If these drug dealers were taught to be entrepreneurs and had the same opportunities and access to captial. The black community would be much better off and would be the same as the white "smart" CEOs.

I disagree. Alot of people say this for a "feel good" story but I think this is false. While a very small percentage of "Hood Legends" and Kingpins were highly intelligent, most really weren't. To make it in the streets fearlessness, charisma, and leadership ability far outweighs intellect. Intelligence can actually hurt you in that you would have increased fear. Many of these street cats built their reputation on having no fear or regard for life. Their own or anyone else's. A highly intelligent street legend that isn't feared will get robbed, setup, tested, and/or killed. The reason other dopeboys, hustlers, snitches, and stickup cats didn't really mess with street cats isn't because they feel they will they would be outsmarted, but because they know that repercussions would come at all costs. If you knew a guy would shoot someone in broad daylight, you wouldn't choose him as a victim.Regardless of his intellect. There are alot of mismanaged record labels and legit businesses started by ex street cats and most of them are under managed and fail. DeathRow had one of the best rosters ever but ran the label into the ground. Where is "Big Cat" Laflare? Where is Ducktape Entertainment? Almost every hood has a BBQ and Barbershops that were started by known street cats. Most of them fail.

Of course there are exceptions to this like JPrince,50,JayZ,Dame, etc etc.

You missed the whole point. CEOs of many of these corporations aren't necessarily "smart" but were given opportunities and access to captial.
How many CEOs have bankrupted or nearly bankrupted corporations?
How many have got to be CEOs simply by being "smart" vs those who have gotten to where they are by way of access, privileges, and ruthlessness?

The reason why a lot of these folk who tried to run legit businesses fail.m is mostly always because they keep themselves tied to the streets and never grow from that point. So failures is bound to happen but failure also happens to thise non street/non black smart folk.

Trump is an perfect example of a "smart" CEO who had privilege, opportunity, and access to captial.
