HBO: The Leftovers

SPOILER WARNING

man, they got me confused as hell

What is it that Nora wants? Is she actually trying to die to be with her kids or is she just real real bitter about what happened. I don't understand what her and Matt plan to do with those "Be with your departed" scammers

Now Laura is planning on checking out too? I thought she was "the only sane one" on the show now.

Nora doesn't think it's a scam, or at least she's hoping it's not and willing to take the risk. In either case we know she lives from the flash forward earlier in the season.

Laura fresh out the cult, and I think they did a pretty good job this episode showing that she isn't and hasn't been all that stable. This will be her second attempt, something tells me she won't go through with it again, but the show is coming to an end so who knows.

I just realized I missed the first 10 minutes of last nights episode. That explained a lot with Laurie

Everyone can go to a dimension of their own makin, the path is up to them.

We want to be there but like the birds, home is all we know.

Imo

Ok, I admit... I watched the first few shows of season 1, and it didn't catch on with me... just bored me the fuck to death, so I tuned out for the most part. Looked in over the next couple years, but it was the same. Depressed people moping around (understandably given what happened, but...) and absolutely nothing happening. I mean, this shit always seems to be 10 times worse than the worst Walking Dead filler episodes. The only vaguely interesting thing I have ever seen was I think last season when some dude got car jacked and forced to have sex with Liv Tyler....
This season I want to at least see if it goes out with a bang; some big revelation... but I've seen crazy people on a boat... the lead actor dreaming/near death experiencing himself as the president's twin brother(??...WTF..???)...ugh.

People have different tastes, and maybe this is just something I'd never like, so I'm not going in on any people that do like it... but generally I'm pretty open to watching shit. I enjoyed "Gates of Heaven" which was a 2 hour 1978 documentary about the pet cemetary industry for goodness sakes.... but this shit; it's like somebody is fucking with me. Is it seriously enjoyable to anyone here or is everyone just trying to see how it ends and if the disappearance will be fully explained?

Every time I watch it makes me feel like kicking somebody in the throat, and if they don't end with revelation, you may hear about a rash of NJ emergency room patients with size 13 nike imprints on their necks!

I'm not sure which thoroughly disappointed me the Most... The Leftovers Or The Cavs game

Would you rather be in the land of the 98% who believed the 2% disappeared?
Or the land of the 2% who believed the 98% disappeared.

I would have liked to see a season on the land of the 2%.

if she was actually telling the truth.

Two dimensions. To Laura her family got abducted. To her family she did. Two worlds. Shits pretty interesting.

THe two dimension shit was a different spin.
And there's a machine which you can go back and forth?

I rode this train for this?
Hmmmm

That's what I'm sayin, then there's the third with Kevin. But I could be one of his own makin.

The grass ain't always greener.

I'd like to see how my life would play out if I changed one thing every time I went back.

now... they didn't show Nora in the 2nd dimension, right? She just said she went there and saw everybody, correct? So she could be making shit up?

She could, she don't seem to be one who makes shit up.

The entire episode had a running theme of people not being truthful: Kevin with his obliviousness about Jarden, The nun sleeping with man on the ladder. And these lies perturbed Nora. It stands to reason that the story at the end of the episode was Nora's lie IMO.

Her monologue at the end did two things, it allowed Kevin to show that it was irrelevant to him whatever transpired after she went into the machine, he was just happy to be back in her life again. It also allowed the writers to give the viewers a choice, do you want to believe that she went into the land of the 2% and embrace the mystery of the show, or do you want to see the show for the characters and the dynamics between them and view Nora's story as immaterial. Just my opinion on it.

It's really up to you if you believe Nora's explanation or not, regardless, Kevin and Nora are together and everyone's story is resolved.

Or they could all be in purgatory.

She called the therapist that hinted at killing herself a few episodes ago. The wedding party was trying to get rid of their sins, the nun was lying about getting some and Kevin told her about a scar he could have received when the bearded Kevin retrieved the launch key.

If you're a logic oriented person (which I am) this show will really frustrate the fuck out of you because you need an explanation that's logical and we didn't get it. If you're in for just the emotional ride of the characters, this might be some of the best TV in a while for that.

Key points from last night

1. I thought the farewell between Kevin and Nora was really cool. That shit took me back to old car trips with my siblings before the age of nintendo and walkmen, madlibs was all we had to entertain themselves. I thought they tied off Kevin's storyline nicely, he went from being solely a man addicted to his faith to accepting that there is just some BS in the world you can't let slide no matter how you dress it up.

2. Nora's story about what happened when she went through the machine was a pseudo explanation, but it raised some interesting theories about what was "supposed to happen". Ultimately Nora was a truth seeker, she was skeptic until she found something she was willing to believe in. She returned still ultimately a skeptic and a BS detector first grade. Not much to say, she completed her story arc and stayed true to who she was ultimately

3. Kevin. - I don't understand Kevin, why pretend or act like he and Nora hadn't had a relationship? I hope this was the director/writer just trying to keep us confused about what happened to Nora or which "Verse" we were currently in. Not happy with his ending here.

Laurie with a baby but unclear who it is, maybe I missed something

No John sighting, Was John really all healed up just by hearing that his message to his daughter was received? Kinda weak to exclude him from the last episode.

Tons and tons of symbolism in the Wedding party. The beads, the doves and the goat.

So it was two dimensions??..they didnt did explain how everyone got departed??...like i say, this show was confusing!1..but i stay and watch all the seasons!!

Was half expectimg Walter from Fringe to show up for those last 5 minutes to break it down.

I believe Nora was telling the truth because she finally made peace with herself
They kept the finale low budget though
