My fellas who keep a well manicured lawn ya boy finally broke down and got one of these
Fiskars-Stay-Sharp-Push-Mower.jpg

My grandfather had a old skool one but I never really looked into them until the other day I seen one of my neighbors down the street with a lawn that looked like a fucking golf coarse and in our area every lawn is St. Augustine so you know he had to take take of that shit. He said the reel mower has transformed his yard...razor sharp cuts and no fumes from gas or blade tearing the grass and shit.

I drove right up to home depot and got one... I will update after I use it

Post the lawn playboy, I'm looking at one as well. Got an electric, but the damn crabgrass tends to lay down.

Scotts is ur best bet for crabgrass......I got a small about 50' x 30' backyard...90+ degrees, in the sun hotter....fuck pushing shit...I don't live in Mayberry....craftsman self propelled gas mower with rear wheel drive and my shit looks like an outfield in a baseball stadium...tho I don't use it...their are tutorials on you tube that show how to get that out field look !!! And as far as fumes...unless ur laying face down on ur mower or got one from '75...never had a problem with that !!! I've had sod for 14yrs and I take care of it...weed & feed regularly ...when it's fresh cut, back & forth lines last for about 3 days !!! And you know when you have a proper sized lawn....you need a riding mower !!!!!!

my wife said the same thing...fuck that...i like the exercise
I hear you....but on any day above 70 and sweating...fuck dat.....I cut in the morning and would do it at 6am if it was legal....got to wait till at least 8am cause of noise restriction laws....landscapers and all !!! Did all the planting and fences my self...only reason I got a would fence on the side was to save on the cost...that shit in the back was $65/8' section...and the poles I think were $35 a piece !!!

yeah our community has the same rules and i love to get up early right fo day and fuck around in the yard. Im dealing with a yard that was neglected by the previous owners. its one thing to get hire mfs to come cut it but its another to really take care of it.

Brother, my crabgrass laughs at scotts. Gotta go with the industrial Drive crabgrass killer,
Southern Ag Methylated Seed Oil and marker spray. This shit is going down.

Depending on how big an area you have to work with...you might just as well be better off starting over....and if you have the cash....sod is the way to go...barefoot, my lawn feels like carpet it's so thick....it would take 3-5yrs to get the same results starting from seed !!! Thickness of the lawn & and re-seeding. I've had my sod for 14yrs now and had it delivered from long island in an over the phone purchase from a site I found online...weighed it out and it was about the same as Home Depot, but delivered without renting a truck and laid it myself...after spreading garden center topsoil about an inch thick...I think I had about 20yds of it delivered !! I think I paid about $2.50 per 2'x3' section...came out to about six something....I saw sod at Home Depot this year for $5.99 per 2'x3' section !!!!

With a nice size yard the real concern is time. A riding mower will cut your yard time in half. Its not about the image of being too lazy to mow it yourself. You'll still need time to trim hedges, and other duties around the house. The idea is to work smarter. The few extra hundred you spend for a riding mower will be well spent.

BTW that mower you posted will require you to go back and pickup your grass trimmings, that means raking. A riding mower would catch those trimmings.

I think some reelers just ride over and "mulch". I havene't seen a lawn that uses one, so not sure how that looks when the grass dies. but if it cuts fine enough it could be ok.

I was just presenting options, whatever works best for him. There's times you may need to mow more that once a week. But yard care can take up a lot of your time.

I can understand not wanting a riding mower, I'm the same way. But are you sure those dimensions are right?? U mean to tell me you're cutting 30000+ sq ft with a non self-propelled reel mower

What have u been cutting with?

I have a lawn mow...With a bag on it..

I have a old house built in 74 in a older area...all houses sit on 1 1/2 acre or more...mine is a lil under that. I have 2 back yards and a pool behind my house with plenty of yard space. We purchased the house and I had the surveyor come out 2 times to make sure the markers they set in the ground was correct cause I didn't think it was that big and they marked damn near 10 feet into my neighbors yard.

Im getting older and im not about to be fucking with fumes and shit like before. I can cut the yard without noise, fumes, dust or numb hands from the mow vibration. Plus we are going green as we get older..i have put rain buckets on both sides of the house. Went and purchased a compost tumbler as well...growing veges and shit..

with our lives and time yard work is our together time...she does her thing with her plants and other shit and I do my shit. It cuts the grass real fine so no raking or picking up is needed

We need to do this as well, been meaning to. I built my wife a veggie box garden at our old house, new house needs one.

You must cut often...no way a push mower will cut fine if you don't cut before it reaches a certain length !!!

I love fried green tomatoes so im going to plant some of those in a couple of weeks...

Dammit man, You brought me back to the memories of when I had to cut my lawn manually when I was a kid at my parents house.
Now I have my lawn guy do mines, screw that.
