IMO this is a smoke and mirrors con job to make it seem like they care or are doing something.
I would say this is just smoke and mirrors but Trump's big ass mouth and itchy twitter fingers will let us know the truth of the matter before the end of the night.
As quick as the people behind Agent Orange try to spin a story and do cleanup, he'll come out and do an interview or make a twitter post that completely undercuts the spin story.

I mainly watch these nightly news cycles to see how much of a pretzel these Trump supports twists themselves in to defend his bullshit.
Under law, Mueller will have all the authority of a U.S. attorney to conduct his investigation. He will also be able to choose members of his team and request a budget from the Justice Department.
If he chooses, Mueller could keep the FBI agents currently working on the Russia investigation. It’s not clear where Mueller will be working from, but the Justice Department said Mueller would be stepping down from his job at the law firm WilmerHale.
