I don't get all the heat Facebook live is getting. Technology will just highlight both the good and bad done by people. It's like Americans always try to blame something other than the fucked up people. More heat needs to be placed on the lack of mental health care in this country than the tools the disturbed use to showcase their crimes.

CLEVELAND -- Police in Philadelphia said schools were on lockdown Monday as they investigated reported sightings of a suspect who they say shot and killed an elderly man in Cleveland and posted it on Facebook.

Authorities also said there was no indication that Steve Stephens was in Philadelphia.

Multiple 911 calls came in shortly after 12:30 p.m. claiming that Stephens could be in or near Fairmount Park, a large green expanse northwest of downtown.

Officers were checking the area, and police said eight elementary schools and a high school were on lockdown as a precaution.

"He could be nearby. He could be far away or anywhere in between," FBI agent Stephen Anthony said on Day 2 of the manhunt for Steve Stephens, a 37-year-old job counselor for teens and young adults.

As I stated earlier. The killer looks like a local Philly MC/Producer named Dice Raw who works with The Roots. I always see dude around town, so it wouldn't surprise me if people are confusing him with the Cleveland killer.

She didnt seem upset or distraught at all...but she's in protective custody?

I had a run in with a guy that showed similar traits of this guy...he was fucking nuts and it was one of the scariest experiences of my life.....he threated my life...then treated to take his own or someone elses as an "exchange"....

I just cant see how someone would react the way she did unless it was strategic or she was guilty/hiding something

When you was in your situation with that dude and he made those crazy statements, would you have 'felt' responsible if he acted on it?

I ask that because when a person is trying to get out of a relationship with an overly obsessive or controlling individual, they some times have to act real cold towards that person; which could mean that the victim has to dismiss the emotional state of the controller. Which is totally understandable.

Btw...I know this type of stuff happens a lot, but when u actually see it, it seems to stick with you longer. Same thing with all those police shootings. That type of bs has been happening to Black folks for CENTURIES. Most folks ignored it (Black folks included). But when its caught on cam, it hits closer to home. Then we get TEMPORARILY outraged.

In a way, this kinda shows you the lack of compassion that we have in this world. There will be more live streamed murders. So that "lets sue" thing is right around the corner. Trust me! It'll be similar to how npo's and the government found a way to hustle off bullying. Bullying has been around since forever. But once technology started assisting the bullies & fueling suicides, tougher regulations were created and a new form of income was created for the hustlas.

Social media has been standing its ground for a long time with their "privacy terms", but soon the cries from the grieving families will outweigh the cries of people who just want their internet freedom.

Its a shame that the majority have to suffer because of the flawed minority, but thats just how things go ova here!

The problem comes down to live streaming and lack of control over it. I think people need to realize that social media has effectively changed how you have to view these types of outlets. In this age of instant fame these sites have effectively created a platform with zero control. That's why I brought up video games and rap music as examples and showed what made them different... remember when kids where blaming video games for the mass shootings..
well the video game industry was actually sued.. the case was dismissed on summary judgment because even though there could be a game that can effectively teach a person how to kill someone.. video games have first amendment protection. They are creative works.

I can't see that facebook can be treated like a video game. live streaming has no true artistic values. It is an application... it is their work product. But their product can be misused. I think that's where facebook has problems... the lack of regulation over this product has opened a gateway and I think that's where there's going to be a congressional hearing over it. I guarantee that soon live streaming is going to have major restrictions over it. I can almost assure you that soon facebook will change their policy and force people to provide their location on their app and their will probably change their rules to allow them them to save everyone's live stream on their server.. even if you delete from your page. I think they save copies now but I think the duration is extremely short. Anyway, there's going to be change somewhere.

Yeap... I've already had three bullying cases.

And this is the next thing... I promise you. Kat's are going to start suing because they know that facebook, twitter, and Instagram don't want to go to court on this. The first couple cases would probably lose on summary judgement but this right here is the test case. I think this is the first real case where I could see Facebook losing on Summary Judgment. That's why they issued a statement immediately. They see the writing on the wall... (bad pun here) but elite lawyers would smell blood in the water here.

I know you're a lawyer, so it's nice to here your perspective on this.

IMHO blaming livestreaming will just force other platforms to emerge and then whack-a-mole begins. And will things be criminalized before real crimes(murder, shooting, etc) are committed? Meaning, what happens if someone wants to offer live streaming or does it? Do they get jail time?
