Official 2016-2017 season NY Giants Thread

New York Giants: Jerry Reese Rips Ereck Flowers

Oh, damn.

You could understand after an embarrassing postseason loss why certain members of the New York Giants would be on edge.

Well, general manager Jerry Reese seems to be one of those guys.

According to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, Reese said that second-year left tackle Ereck Flowers needs to show “fruits of being a first-round pick.”

Flowers was the team’s first-round pick in 2015 and he finished the 2016 season with a miserable Pro Football Focus grade of 48.4 protecting Eli Manning’s blindside.

With veteran lineman like Andrew Whitworth hitting the free agent market this offseason, you wonder if he’s in Reese’s plans to protect Manning in 2017.

The Giants GM added that they’ll evaluate this offseason whether Flowers is worthy of being a left tackle.

They need to move his ass to either RT or direct into free agency

without the sensationalist title, it doesn't look like he ripped him at all. just says he needs to play better :hmm:

In the loss, the best thing that happen was Ereck Flowers showing that he's a terrible offensive lineman.

We actually need 2 linemen.

LT ?
LG Pugh
C Richburg
RG ?
RT ?

Get an elite RG or RT in FA, draft one high and let Flowers or Hart fight for the last spot.

Giving this Oline issue some thought, I realized that the source of the problem is the talent evaluator. As our line was aging we drafted and picked up linemen, but they were all busts or never developed past just being extra bodies. Then when the front end aged out the cupboard was bare. The free agents didn't last or are trash (Schwartz, Jerry, Newhouse) and the anchor, the high draft pick is the picture of ineptitude. This is another failure I lay of the lap of our favorite pin cushion... Jerry Reese. He needs a O-line guru to re-evaluate what we're doing wrong so we don't just keep replacing trash with recycled garbage and pick up genuine talent.

I was just saying this myself earlier. Reese has been GM for over 10 years.. Zero pro bowls, Zero all pros on the offensive line.

Pugh and Richburg are the best he's done and even they're GOOD, not GREAT

We fucked up that 50th overall pick.......but in that same draft what did y'all do with the 9th overall pick? Y'all in no position to gloat. :lol:If you drafted nearly as good as we do your offensive line wouldn't look like it looks.

Evaluating rookies after one year, is no Bueno. Eli app has been a solid addition. If rookie years matter, then MO Claiborne must be hilarious to you. Ha.

Tye is too soft to play fullback. They ran him as a fullback on a few play and he did nothing.

He's still holding out hope that a little camp competition will wake his punk ass up...

And that he won't just be a member, but the Grand Exalted Ruler of Reese's Draft Runts

Flowers could make a pretty solid guard tbh.. less footwork which is his biggest problem, plus dude is a monster in the run game, even though his his pass pro sucks.

And we do need help at guard too. I can see him & Pugh putting in work together for our run game

Its not gloating... U win some, u lose some... And for the record, Apple is no bust. Flowers sux... He's not a tackle... Guard maybe... Overall, our problem is easily identified and I expect Reese to fix the problem... And Reese drafts decent... He did good with Collins... Shepherd... and Perkins.

Naw I didn't call Apple a bust I'm talking about what y'all did with that first round pick in that draft we got Gregory in. I do think y'all drafted Apple too high but shit happen.

We were gonna draft Jack Conklin but the Titans traded up and snatched him. Conklin is gonna be a monster, dude made All-Pro his rookie year. If we had him, the offense would've been a lot better.

It's just Reese's luck with OL. The one that turns out to be a beast, gets sniped from him smh

I'm cool with Apple though. He has shutdown corner ability. He just needs to learn to play the ball better.

Reason why I don't take corners high is becasue these refs out here let these niggas just play. I can't invest high in corner when the league favors offenses and the refs give receivers all the calls.

And yeah Conklin...I haven't seen much of him but I saw he got that All Pro nod in his rookie year. That's a nice foundation on a o fensive line.

I'm seeing a lot of posts on Facebook bout us potentially going after Kenny Brit in the offseason. Are any of y'all hearing this as well? I like having a taller receiver but would Brit be worth the effort?
