only instance so far of weak writing
Man so far.. I'm going to have to agree. I'm hoping for some kind of explanation... at least for one of the Scientists. It's the only thing about this show that's weak so far.
Peace to the poster who first discovered the Arnold reveal weeks ago. I was on that train from the moment I read it.
Didn't expect Delores to kill him though.
I'm kind of lost but then again I'm not. I'm still trying to figure out the plot in all of this. And what I mean by plot is in every movie, there has to be some type of major conflict. Is the conflict Ford vs. the host? in which the host don't want to used as puppets anymore? If that's the case then the show is nothing but a bunch of bullshit buildup for something that is not all that interesting.
I'll admit there are still some things that I am trying to figure out but I like to start with the big picture and that seems like the big picture.... Someone just needs to break down everything that has and is happening in bullet points. lol
Ford wants to be GOD. The Board wants him to out. Arnold had a different vision of the host and Ford was against it.
I'm still of the opinion that Bernard's backstory is what happened to Arnold and that Arnold wanted to find a way to bring back his son. I'm relying on the picture that he had with Ford... even though the picture could have all been in his head. Ford killed Arnold... So he can continue his quest to recreate humanity in his image.
Anyway... now the conflict is that you have a group of hosts that Arnold created with special programming to give them intelligence. My guess is that every host in that church were Arnolds creations. That's why we had some that look flat out crazy. These hosts are slowing coming together.
And I think the center of the Maze is the key to unlocking it all.
As for bullet points... that's going to be tough because this show is operating like a jigsaw puzzle. We the viewer is not supposed to know the big picture right now. We are supposed to get the pieces and put them together at the end.
Like the picture of the woman that Deloris's dad found in the first episode.... Came back in an unexpected way in this episode.
but why thoughDang right..
but I didn't expect that Delores killed him. But that makes some sense... since they mentioned that she was there when Arnold died.
thats current time... Ford said he was digging up the town for the new narrativeThe new mystery is now... Is the church...
I had always assumed that it was just the one church and that it was buried in the "present" timeline with Ford, Bernard, Mauve, and MIB.
But in this episode they clearly show MIB in the church with Delores.... So is the MIB in the church an earlier MIB or is this another memory manipulation of Deloris where what we have been seeing.. Isn't when it has happened.
They finally.... got me on this one.
but why though
yeah I could see this2. Unbeknownst to even Arnold, after Deloris became aware of her existence... her programming couldn't accept it and developed an early form of the same programming errors that we saw in the other hosts in Episode 1. I think Deloris and the other hosts... flipped out on their creator causing the massacre that we heard happened 30 years ago. Deloris is still seeing Arnold.... not because it is Arnold's will but because in reality she is still broken.
That second theory would fall more in line with the themes of the Westworld movie and the sequel.
thats current time... Ford said he was digging up the town for the new narrative
also remember when Delores ran away from the farm - that was also present time...
Dolores is Wyatt - Teddy's main job was to keep her in her loop - no Ted and Dolores reverts to "Wyatt" or what ever version of her that lays waste to the town
the river scene was real time Dolores AND Billy flashback overlaid
as for why Dolores killed Arnold - this is possibly a hint
some of the hosts are sentient - not all -just some - and Bernard and Ford have been keeping them shackled at best or in worse case wiping them / killing
Ok some of these gifs are confusing even me...
But I am peeked as to the Deloris being Wyatt theory..... but I cant be completely behind this because we know that Ford Created the Wyatt storyline and purposely put Teddy into that storyline to move him away from Deloris. I don't see why would you have Deloris end up Wyatt.
The thing that really stood out here... was old girl telling MIB that he isn't ready for the MAZE. This entire time... we have been made to believe that Wyatt is just a storyline created by Ford. But now... we have seen definite signs that the Wyatt storyline has some connection to the maze. Is this by design by Ford or is this residual influence by Arnold.
The key though is that you can't believe any of the flashbacks that you see from Teddy, Mauve or Deloris. You have to take what you see as a small grain of salt and focus on the scenes that involve multiple characters as the only actual fact..
Even though this episode.... just threw a wrench into that final sentence.
Wyatt is fiction based on fact.Ok some of these gifs are confusing even me...

Man if ford a damn bot I can't take itAs for the church...I've got a new theory, but I'm going to have to go back and rewatch this episode and then... the first flashback to the church in Episode 1.
Ford did say that he was going to rebuild it.. but the room in the lower level of the church appeared to be unused for years and that entire area including the church appeared to be abandoned. I don't see Ford, who clearly has an affinity for his dear friend, to go to that much trouble to recreate the area which lead to the downfall of his friend..
But I do want to talk about the new nuggets that were dropped this episode that intrigued.
1. Who was the guy in the middle of the picture, between Ford and Arnold? He has to be pretty important and yet we know nothing about this mysterious third man. Could he have some connection to the Maze or Arnold's Death? What if he was the first HOST? That could signify why he was between the two of his creators.... to signify the joint creation. Notice how Ford has never once mentioned the other guy.
2. The picture Logan showed William... I'm going to hold on discussing this because of Spoilers.. but this is HUGE. HUGE and raises so many questions...
3. When you rewatch.... Deloris's scenes in this movie.. Really pay attention to how she dressed.
4. After rewatching... Fords conversation with Bernard. Ithink Ford was generally shocked by Arnold's Death and created Bernard as the only way to bring his dear and probably only friend back. Im running with this based on Ford telling Bernard that he was so in a hurry to create him that he didnt have time to think about a name, but that that it didnt feel right to call him Arnold. This would suggest that he was deeply saddened by Arnolds untimely death.
BUT..... and here is where it really get's wild...
It would also suggest that everybody that originally knew Arnold was destroyed in the massacre 30 years ago, because "Why wouldn't anyone working their today.. recognize Bernard as Arnold." Even people if everyone was new... Someone should remember what he looks like. Especially since... .Ford has no problem keeping that picture of the three of them in his office. Which leads me to strongly go with my theory that Ford is also a Host and/or that the others running the Park are hosts as well. I think they have all been programmed to see what they need to see. Again... this is a wild theory..... but who knows. [\Spoiler]

Ford said the host that looked like him was his father - that Bernard built as a gift to Ford1. Who was the guy in the middle of the picture, between Ford and Arnold? the only question there who put that at the corral for D father to find? MIB? Ford? D herself (like the gun)?2. The picture Logan showed William... I'm going to hold on discussing this because of Spoilers.. but this is HUGE. HUGE and raises so many questions...
