Detroit TV anchor resigns after telling colleague she’s tired of covering ‘n***s killing each other'

I am waiting to see when black people realize that we are not judged on an individual basis, but as a collective. We have to be advocates of our communities not prey on it.
 
Im not one to make excuses for cacs but I see the point your trying to make op.

What's interesting to me is how, witnessesing the lack of value blacks in Detroit seem to have for each other's lives seems to influence her lack of respect.

I can see how one would almost have to dehumanize black people in their mind to report on the senseless violence night after night without breaking down.

To keep saying black folk aren't tired of it is asinine. The high rate of Black on black crime is deeper than just simply black males killing each other.

Yes I did say genocidal rate, either you don't travel and are not aware these bros killing each other over nonsensical shyt or you've become desensitized to it .
Its in the Caribbean , Canada , USA , Brazil , even parts of Africa .
As for fixing it I say black men need to take the community back , build a patriarchal structure , black families need to focus on personal wealth ,maintaining it , and passing it on to their children .

Black ppl as a collective will never elevate out our Shit-uation until we focus on economics .
To me all form or racism, /white supremacy is centured around economics .
Europeans didn't go to Africa and other parts of the world , and continue to do so just to catch a vibe and get a tan . . . It's all about money and resources .

Travelled? I was born and raised in the west indies, junior high and high school in harlem, lived down south for 4 yrs, lived in Germany for 2yrs, been to almost every state in the US. spent a month in france, been to England, 2 weeks in Turkey. So fuck your travel statement. Its an alarming rate but its far from genocide. Economic growth is great but that alone will not stop the high crime rate. These crimes are mostly gang related gangs are organized crime. Building an economy and not addressing the gangs will only make things worst. To say black folk are desensitized is ridiculous. They need law enforcement help and its not coming in the right way. Instead of intelligently addressing the gang situation law enforcement are taking a blanket approach of painting everyone in the hoods as a criminal and sort them out after.

There has to be economic leadership, people in the hood are overwhelmed by trying to make it day to day, economically, health and safety wise.
As far as the test of the world you can't lump all the eggs in one basket. There are much more harsher things our brothers outside the US are facing. But you, me and all other black folk who have these discussions should make this question a part of the discussion...what are we doing to help?

Lauren Podell, a local NBC news reporter in Detroit, Michigan resigned on Wednesday after word got out about her use of the n-word, BLAC Detroit reports.

Podell, 31, reportedly used the word in conversation with a co-worker and the news got out around the office this week. She said to a crew member or TV producer, “I’m tired of reporting on these n*****s killing each other in Detroit.”

News of Podell’s resignation was confirmed in a company-wide email that was also released on Twitter by Huffington Post front page editor, Philip Lewis.

The email came from the news station’s Vice President and General Manager, Marla Drutz. It read as follows:

I wanted to let you know that Lauren Podell has resigned from WDIV effective immediately. Lauren asked me to convey the following: “During my time at WDIV I have created many friendships that I will continue to cherish”. If you receive any media inquiries please forward them to Jamie or me. Thanks.

Word of Podell’s statement got around after Sam Riddle, a former chief of staff for former Detroit City Councilwoman Monica Conyers quoted the reporter’s words in a Facebook post.

Riddle expressed his discontent over the matter, and said demonstrations were underway for Thursday morning to protest racism as a “systemic issue” and the news outlet’s “racist cover up.”

Podell also came under fire after dropping an f-bomb on live TV in 2013. She said, “I don’t have [interruptible feedback], I don’t know when we’re going, neither does Jim, I can’t get this f***ing in there!”
