In a stunning move that thrusts the Vikings right back into the NFC North arms race, Minnesota executed a blockbuster trade for Eaglesquarterback and former No. 1 overall pick Sam Bradford on Saturday, the Eagles announced.

The Vikings gave up a first-round pick in 2017 and a fourth-round pick in 2018 -- a massive price to pay for what could amount to one season of work.

The news was first reported by ESPN and, oddly enough, mentioned in a deleted tweet by Broncos defensive coordinator Wade Phillips earlier on Saturday morning.

The deal was reportedly in the works for a few days. After Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater went down with a gruesome dislocated knee injury and torn ACL on Tuesday, the team began a search for an adequate replacement. The Vikings won the division last year with Bridgewater throwing just 14 touchdown passes -- the hope is that Bradford can hold the fort down and manage games in a similar way. He is currently in the first year of a two-year deal worth $36 million, which could give the Vikings an option in 2017 if Bridgewater's recovery timetable lengthens.

Bradford's departure from Philadelphia and arrival in Minneapolis leaves a stunning ripple effect throughout the league. We may be looking at No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz starting sooner than 2017. The Eagles will likely roll with longtime Andy Reid backup Chase Daniel on opening day against the Browns.

Bradford is once again teaming up with Adrian Peterson, just like he did at the University of Oklahoma. Back then, Bradford was looked at as one of the purest quarterback prospects in football. The Vikings are hoping to recapture some of that magic as they take advantage of their current roster window.

It was hard to imagine Bradford playing elsewhere in 2016 after the Eagles shielded him all offseason. There were plenty of inquiries, including by the defending Super Bowl champion Broncos, but Philadelphia was determined to keep Bradford as a buffer for the developing Wentz. Bradford, meanwhile, wanted to get out of Philadelphia.

His wish was granted in a significant way Saturday.

A first round pick? That fucking CAC continues to make the world believe that he is actually a great NFL quarterback.

One reason I would never pay that much for a quarterback this late in the process is that he doesn't know the system it's going to take until at least midseason to learn the system and by then the team could be out of it, and a first-round pick for next year to make the team better

I heard this rumoured earlier this week

but thought there was no way that the vikings would give up more than a 3rd rd pick for a 1 year rental

how the fuck did Howie get them to give up a 1st this year and a 4th next year? this dude bout to be GM of the year:lol:

And remember Bradford was only going to start for half the year anyway. That's why he threw his lil his hissy fit in the off-season

I wonder if this means Teddy is fucked when he returns next year :dunno:

HNIC

Absolutely not

Bradford is a fuckin bum

Man if Bradford balls out and they make a push in the playoffs, white privilege will take over and Bridgewater will be Geno Smith 2.0, bank on it...

Let him have better numbers than Bridgewater had last season and see what happens... Shit, Bradford had comparable numbers to Bridgewater last year so if he's a bum what are you saying about Teddy?

Geno 2.0? Geno is no where near Teddy's class.. Not even in the same vicinity...

Teddy is getting his job back.. He's still young

Vikings are dumb but they had little choice

They were primed to be a playoff team with Teddy B

They got raped on the trade but with the running game and defense they know they at least have a CHANCE to compete with Bradford. He is better than Shaun Hill

In that same breath Philly wasn't about to do shit anyway so minus whale rape someone and get rid of Bradford in the process

As soon as Bradford open his mouth about being upset concerning Wentz his days were number...Eagles were smart waiting until last minute to trade him right before season starts to get the best value for him...Eagles are the winners of this trade.

This reminds me when Vikings trade all those first round picks to Cowboys. Vikings thought they were one player (running back) away from getting to super bowl...We all know what happen after that trade. :smh:

it gets better

Per source, the 2018 fourth-round pick that the Eagles get can become a 3 or even a 2. Triggers based on Vikings team success with Bradford.

Man Howie held up the Vikings' GM in a dark alley.

This is true. But the vikings have the luxury of having a healthy and hungry Adrian Peterson but you're are right they gave up up wayyyyyy to much for a mediocre QB. They could've got the same level qb in mark Sanchez for a supplemental draft pick, a 2006 Charger sxt with cloth interior and $575 cash.:dunno:

Not talking about skill, I'm talking about situation. CACs always get the upper hand in this, and while I LOVE Teddy's game its not like he's elite. Geno is young too Bruh. averaging 14 TDs and an average of an 86 passer rating the two previous seasons doesn't amount to job security especially when you are the wrong shade...

They played it perfectly

Just waited and waited for a starter to get injured and applied pressure

Can't even hate the Eagles did well lol

Yep.... I'm and Eagles fan and am beyond happy with this trade, but the Vikings got fucked plain and simple... Plus, you don't want to run AP in the ground because of weak QB play because while he's healthy he's not 22 either...

Werd! I guess they figured what everyone else already knew, we weren't going to be shit with Bradford this year anyway, and they might as well speed up the Wentz transition. This helps in the even Bradford does have a good season, we don't have to deal with bullshit next off season!
