Aquaman Movie Villain Revealed

A Black hero and a Black Villian?

Who approved this?

Nerdy white boys heads exploding all over the internet.

Marvel is already doing this with The Black Panther AND with Luke Cage.

Chadwick Boseman is the hero and Michael B. Jordan is one of the main villains in The Black Panther.

Mike Coulter is the hero apparently battling (2)main Black villains Cotton Mouth played by Mahershala Ali & Diamondback played by Erik LaRay Harvey in Luke Cage.

(All the White nerds, geeks and fanboys I know are totally STOKED about these 2 properties...) :dunno:

Can you PLEASE explain WHY DC has NOT done this?

Its the EASIEST WIN ever!!!!

He is long established and you can even have Ryan do a quick cameo or EASILY explain why he isn't present and GIVE a brother the movie.

And it would DIRECTLY compete with black Panther..

Its a win win

give it to Denzel's son on Ballers and have Antoine direct it.
He is a good actor if they retcon Kyle Rainer, he would be perfect - but for John, I'd prefer an older actor that could pull a combat veteran / battle weary marine bearing:
Lennie James
Mike Ealy
David Oyelowo

Maybe a wild card casting like dude from Power or Blair Underwood :dunno:

IMO best casting that would never happen: Jeffrey Wright

here we go again smh

man, I hope I'm wrong - but it keeps looking like DC is still trying to gimmick their way into a universe instead of building it

imo - DC has better properties for movies than Marvel - shit, take this character:

No one can make a legit under $70 million super natural R rated horror movie - market it as a horror movie and write it for continuity?

This is where Marvel fucked up with Ghost Rider

fuck it - I'm calling it from now - FAIL

Manta shouldn't be the first villain - he should be in the movie as the manipulator of the first villain and a power player from the shadows with a competitive sometimes allied relationship with Aquaman... Also have Aquaboy around with a complicated father son relationship

even worse DC hasn't shown any skill at story telling and this movie needs a lot of it - and Jason hasn't proven himself as a lead actor- shit they had Aquaman obviously holding his breath underwater in BvS

It really should be OceanMaster, but as Orm, before he becomes OceanMaster, when he was just Aquaman's half brother... and have him be the shunned half breed among the various royal families and the military command of Atlantis as primary and secondary conflicts -IMO there also should be an external threat from a rival city on a war path.
After 3 or 4 movies borrow villains from WonderWoman or shit do white martians- beat Marvel to the punch on the skrull wars

You talking good. I like everything you saying right here.

I am okay with that choose. I just hope they do it right. A cartoon made Black Manta a fucking triple OG. Don't screw this up Warners.

Ive been missing some movies. What's the name of this one?

I think they would at this point...

Look who is doing them now?

Glenn Close, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Kurt Russell and more.

Man listen...

Once marvel gets ready for submariner?

Realize they have Spielberg and James Cameron at their disposal

PLUS

The production crew from pirates of the carribbean...

Damn.

follow up to my own post...

can you HAVE a submariner movie WITHOUT the Fantastic Four??????

Easily, Black Panther was originally introduced through FF in the comics and the MCU changed that.

I think Marvel has already set up his introduction into the MCU with the The Atlantis/Wakanda War storyline from the comics.

good point...

and watch them surround Namor with damn Oscar nominated classically trained Shakespearean actors too.

Didn't another studio have the rights to Ghost Rider during those shitty Nick Cage films? The current Ghost Rider who drives the charger will be on the new season of Agents Of Shield.

Ya'll hating already. I'm excited to see this. Really want to see how they pull this off.
not hate - I think everyone in this thread wants this to be a good movie ... BUT - as of now the best thing it has going for it is the director - I know he can tell a good story, I just don't know if WB will let him... as a geek, I really wish they would let Grant Morrison or Geoff do the story and bring in someone to polish it into a screenplay. I really hope Goeff doesn't just exec this but really does the story

You may be right, but Father Time is undefeated. Glenn Close doesn't get those calls like she used to. Neither does Kurt Russell. Sir Hopkins has always worked because: A- He's a better talent than the aforementioned two, and B- he's never been afraid to work outside of his comfort zone when it comes to roles. Close and Russell watched Hopkins get rave reviews from critics and fans alike, realizing that one could still be taken seriously in other roles after doing a 'comic book' movie.
Kinda like crossing the bridge in that Monty Python movie...
"That's EASY!" :)

The War of the Two Princes.
Black Panther vs. Prince Namor on the big screen. Never thought I'd see this. I assumed comic book movies would jump the shark waaay before they'd dig deep enough in the character crates to pull out any Black leading men/superheroes to lead a movie.
Jack Kirby must be looking down, and smiling.

Two things:
1- DC's properties ARE good, especially some of their second tier characters. For the last decade, DC has been putting out much better comics than Marvel, while Marvel spanks DC when it comes to movies.
2- How would you feel about Norman Reedus in a Ghost Rider reboot? It's been brought up recently by fans of The Walking Dead, and is apparently growing legs with certain execs......
