Charles Barkley: LeBron James will never be a top-five NBA great

I see you working hard copping pleas to explain away a disappearing act by the best player on the team letting his team down. One game, sure, but a GREAT player is supposed to and expected to make adjustments in a series, adjusts to the way they are being played and exploits holes in he other teams strategy. Especially one that guarantees Not 1, Not 2, Not 3... I see you though working hard though :D

johnnie-cochran-web.jpg
Except I always maintained that a LeBron James team will only go as far as their outside shooting and all of his championship teams outside shooting confirms my point..
Excuses is something you make after the fact, theories is something you notice before, plus theories usually have facts and evidence to support, excuses and guesses don't...
Understand now??

Nah, i still put it on LeBron cause the pressure was too much for him at that point and he played like trash in that series. If he had played well and we lost it would be one thing, but it wasnt that case and LeBron has to own it.

Dude, I've said this before. I give LeBron a LOT of credit for his achievements, Dude is the best all around player I have ever seen play and I've been around a minute. I can really appreciate your common sense approach to thing too though... It wasn't LeBron on his own, his whole team lost, but as the best player on the court/in the world, you are expected AT SOME POINT to make adjustments... So, basically, what Dude is doing is making LeBron look in adequate and a helplesss victim to what the Mavs were doing... As if the Mavs had Kareem, Wilt and Russell on the back line in that series. He is hilarious sometimes actually....

Sure did but he didn't put on the GREATEST SINGLE FINALS PERFORMANCE IN NBA HISTORY!!! Against the greatest regular season nba team and the first ever unanimous MVP in history. Go ahead and make up whatever you need to make up to make yourself think LeBron is not a chosen one. I'm not a therapists but this is a fascinating study of how hated LeBron is. Jordan got the same hate if not less.

Jordan never got this much hate. People chastised him for not playing in Finals like Bird & Magic early in his career. But once he won a chip you never heard anymore about his failures against the Pistons, Celtics, and Bucks. Bron haters still bringing up Dallas 5 years later because LeBron the last 5 years has been greater than MJ. When he wins these next 2-3 rings they'll still be referencing 2011.

I asked dude flat out to tell me a Finals MJ had better than this one, and he couldnt do it. Thats all that needed to be said. Bron at his best is just better than MJ at his.

That Heat team lost to a team that used their system to exploit the Heat major weakness, that is their lack of outside shooting..
Its like the Lions with Barry Sanders losing to the Bear due to the Lions not having a qb or wr and all they did was stuff the box with 12 players..
You cannot flip the script and say they lost due to Barry, the reason why they lost was due to the scrub qb and no wr's.....
Rembmer the Heat was kicking ass until the Mavs went to the zone... Now ask yourself why is it not team plays zone today?? For those who don't know, its because playing a zone leave you vulnerable to outside shooting, sorry that team could not shoot its way out of a bag, and they crammed the floor with two 7 footers and a PF... If you place this shit on LeBron then you don't know shit about basketball...
Thank you for this analysis

Jason Kidd-do I really need to explain this one?
Shawn Marion -4 time all Star

People forget that the Bulls were up by double digits late in the fourth quarter of game six in the ECF. The Bulls could have just as easily won that series.

A case could be made that the first year Heat team overachieved even getting to the Finals.

So you just wrote a long ass bullshit assessment of the MAVS series, which took place 7 years ago, but that wasn't AFTER The fact?!?!?! Fuck what you have always said about LeBron we are talking about a series that has already been played and based on you posts, you are making excuses for him, i.e. Copping pleas... Gather your thoughts a little better Son... You're all over the place.

Here is an example of my logic in practice...
If I were to say Tom Brady needs a good offensive line to be great, and he were to lose two pro bowl line men, then they lose the game... You cannot say that him losing his linemen is an excuse if I said it before he started losing... Especially if they come back and he becomes the to qb again..
But dummies don't know logic, so they will struggle with this..

lebron did better than 3 losses he got 4 finals where he loss 4 times..lebron be out doin himself.. if there was a way to lose 5 games in the best of 7 series i'm pretty sure lebron would find a way to do that also..lebron is the best

Well if Barry Sanders would have played well vs the Bears folks would give him the praise also, and but that doesn't mean people who know the game doesn't understand that he needs a offensive line, qb and wr to allow him to get the lanes needed to run...

I always said, even before he won a championship, that a LeBron James team will only go as far as his outside shooters allow him to go..

But Im not saying we would have won if he played his ass off. Im saying that he had to own it personally because thats what superstars do, and doing so allowed him to see his flaws and come back better next time out.

By the way, i was in South Beach on Sunday and when it rained everybody was huddling up in the restaurants, started talking about the game, come to find out I was the only one rooting for LeBron. Everybody else was more mad at him for leaving us then happy that he lead us to to 2 rings. Sports fans are something else smh...

SHE IS WHAT SHE IS, is a confirmed troll. She rode Golden State dick the entire bball season and proclaimed it the "Steph Curry" era. Since Sunday she's made at least 4 LeBron threads and hasnt mentioned Steph Curry once. She likes to hop on the bandwagon of winners. At the same time, she's from Philly and is a huge Kobe stan so she likes to troll LeBron fans. I've never seen her troll Kobe fans in my life, even this season when the Lakers were trash. Everyone on BGOL knows her agenda, and no one should take her seriously at this point.

Tallblackchi took Massdagod's spot as Michael Jordan dickrider #1. She's very insecure about LeBron passing up MJ to the point she tries to belittle his accomplishments while having every excuse in the book for why MJ got swept by the Celtics or needed rules changes to get by the Pistons. Everytime LeBron wins a title, her soul dies a little. She references the Dallas series a lot because LeBron the last 5 years >>>> MJ at any point.

So SP, I LOVE the Barry Sanders reference, BUT that is referring to ONE game as football doesn't play series! If a team crowds the box etc, and makes Sanders ineffective, why to a point a team who depends on his production loses because of it, it isn't as heavy since it is ONE game...

To use a Football analogy to excuse away a Basketball failure is oranges and apples and not applicable at all... BECAUSE in a SERIES a STAR player is expected to, along with the coaching staff, evaluate what the defense is doing, and make adjustments and exploit holes in what the defense is trying to do... To try to excuse away or cop pleas to deflect away from the fact that LeBron simply didn't make the proper adjustments and the team which depended on him for a certain level of production suffered because of it, is really ridiculous... No matter how eloquently the excuse is presented...

Bron was highly pissed when they let Mike Miller go for cap reasons
Man took less money to win championships then the Heat didn't want to go into luxury tax zone.
That played a huge part in him leaving the Heat

Tallblack isnt gonna talk about the series that just happened. She never saw MJ put on a performance like that and dominate in every stat category. She will simply bring up what happened 5 years ago instead. She used to say Bron only won cuz he formed "Voltron" and joined the Heat, now she can no longer say that so bringing up Dallas is her only resort. Dallas swept Kobe, beat Durant in 5 games that year so its not like LeBron was the only HOFer to lose to them as bad as he played. Imagine someone in 92 after Jordan won another chip saying "so, Celtics swept him 5-6 years ago! A true GOAT wouldnt allow that", no one ever did that or pulled that stunt. In fact folks go out of their way to NOT blame MJ for the team getting their ass whooped and him coming up small.

Exept I said a LeBron team will only go as far as their outside shooting.. Matter of fact I was screaming that in the Heat threads all that season before the finals..

So, to your point, a Superstar player, is NOT expected to: In a SERIES of games, make adjustments to how he is being played, exploit areas of weaknesses in the defenses approach, and still be effective? The expectation is, 17.8 ppg for a series and historically bad 4th quarters, and to basically roll over and be a victim the rest of the series? If that's what you are telling me, then we are truly done here...

The same reason Steph Curry is being roasted this series is the same rule that applies to LeBron... He doesn't get a pass because of what everyone else is not doing. One game/ Two maybe, but an ENTIRE series!??!? Stop it Dude.. :hmm:

But Im not saying we would have won if he played his ass off. Im saying that he had to own it personally because thats what superstars do, and doing so allowed him to see his flaws and come back better next time out.
Remember what I said this season about the importance of role players and why I feel Durant on the warriors may be a disaster..
Great players make role players good while great role players allow great players to be the superstars they are..
In other words all superstars including Jordan needs proper role players that allows them to do what they do..
In that Heat team that lost, this is what they was lacking... They didn't need another superstar or LeBron or Wade to play better, all they needed was some outside shooting.. They got i the following year with Allen and a healthy Miller and the rest was history..

Your point would really make sense, if LeBron didn't choke the way he did, and the rest of the team struggled and they lost... But to say that he wasn't directly one of if not the most major reason they got beat by the Mavs is ridiculous... The team lost, and LeBron was beyond bad himself during that series. Now if you are saying LeBron can only be as effective as the rest of his teammates allow him to be, and they were the reason for his poor performance and lack of adjustments then just say it...

You will never see LeBron play for a team with out outside shooters... Matter of fact name one team with out outside shooters that does anything in todays NBA.....
Coincidence???? I think not!!!

This is a team sport, go out and play it for yourself and you'd find out right away...

You really need to chill trying to be a smart ass real rap.... If you want to take this discussion that direction then we can...

...anyway, like I said, if you want to blame his teammates for HIS poor play, keep copping those pleas... As I said before, If the team lost, and LeBron played well, i.e. to a point last years finals against GS, then that would be a different story... But he DIDNT and was a direct major cause for them losing plain and simple..

You will never see LeBron play for a team with out outside shooters... Matter of fact name one team with out outside shooters that does anything in todays NBA.....
Coincidence???? I think not!!!

He had no outside shooters last year against GS, they lost, but he performed no? I'm out chief.. you're trying to move the focus away from the fact that LeBron clearly got owned by the Mavs strategy that year, and didn't make any adjustments which is expected from the BEST PLAYER ON THE PLANET, and he was a major cause for the teams loss...

I like how that beige punk ass faggit figures out a way to bail you out of a debate you're clearly over your head in... Way to run when you really don't have shit to respond to why Lebron was unable to make adjustments.... You really are a coward on so many levels...
Now I know why most people have you on ignore @RoadRage, you really are a bitch for real... So, I guess I'll join the crowd... I can't deal with pathetic individuals like you... Not at all...

So again, a player should be discredited because another team has an ass system ass management! Bottom line, Curry is the UNANIMOUS MVP this year AND celebrated a chip on LeBrons home court... AND talked shit about hoping the locker room still smelled like Champagne before going their to play them AND then beating them on their own home court again...

As it stands right now, 5/12/2016... Curry OWNS LeBron, the League and the MVP award... It's Currys league right now, no matter how much you Dudes bitch and moan bruh.. Deal with it!

All Due respect, but you just explained why a Curry thread ends up being 20 pages of hating ass posts... Also, while those Dudes were dominating, they were doing it in a way thats been seen before. As great as they were, it was still rerun and replay... We have NEVER seen a player do the shit Curry does, which is why the Curry phenomenon is >>>>>> than any of the players you mentioned.

It is what it is...

Your reaching son. You also have a comprehension issue. Name one player who shoots the way Steph does... ONE? Your bringing up games and seasons, yet none of those players have ever played the game Steph does so the way they played has been seen before. Name a player who consistently pulls up wet from 30? Name one player who has broken the 3pt for a season record 3 out of 4 seasons. Name one player with over 400 3s in a season? Name one player who dominated the game from the parameter the way Steph does... NAME ONE PLAYER WHO WAS SELECTED AS UNANIMOUS MVP IN THE HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE outside of Curry... Like I said, the league has NEVER seen a player like him before. If you know of one... Enlighten the board Bruh... I'll wait

Opinion. He has his jump shot... You can't take it away so that's an opinion. LeBron may very well have BEEN the most dominant player in the past years, just not THIS one which is what we are talking about. Curry dominated in the court, in the media, was the best player in the best team in league history, broke individual records, showed the most season to season improvement of any MVP, all that. LeBron and nobody else could carry his joke this season, as he completed the most overall dominant regular season by any player in history. Funny how the voters votes don't count, only when it's somebody other than LeBron winning, but when they were voting for him, they were geniuses... FOH!!!

Curry >>>>> LeBron right now... That why LeBron is so salty...

Still waiting for someone to explain to me... Why in that series, the best player on the planet was unable for AN ENTIRE series to make adjustments?!?!?! It's really a unique slightly bitch ass talent to, when you have no answer to a simple question, to avoid looking like a fool to resort to the cliche'd over used trolling attack as a way to avoid answering the question. I'm in a good mood today and will not bite...

Question still stands, and it's a simple one, as the best player in the world at the time, why was LeBron James NOT able over the course of an entire series, to make adjustments and be more effective? Not that hard of a question to answer... I'll wait...

It's like I'm walking around with Rihanna on one arm and Beyonce on the other and dudes come up to me saying "Remember that time that girl curved you in high school?"
It takes a real insecure person to want to go there.

Football is very different
That I will agree on.
In the Derrick Rose thread i made a similar observation when the Heat best the Bulls.
Rose basically got shut down.
@largebillsonlyplease stated that Rose was the primary scoring option. Key on Rose and it's a wrap.
What I'm curious about is if Wade and Bosh get the credit when they win, (he needed two hall of famers) why don't they share the blame when they lose?
Bron led team lost 4 finals.
Cool.
I give him credit for getting to six in a row.
This last one he had a performance for the ages.
Why didn't he make adjustments in that series? I have my theories .

Absolutely... He definitely did, but tou (not YOU) but anyone, csnt glorify his success and make ezcuses foe his failures. Basically, in my opinion he is sort of one dimensional offensively, and the Mavs clogged the lane and didnt allow him to play bully ball. He was able to have his way with GS because they were so soft in the middle. The Mavs series is more of an indictment on his lack of a plan b than what they were doing...

So if Dallas was so good why do they only have ONE WIN over LeBron in the Finals? They aren't even the best team in their conference anymore and haven't been for the past 6 years.

What doea that have to do with LeBrons disappearing axt in that finals?

Whats the difference between LeBrons smedium peeformance against Dallas and Stephs performance this year?
