I know this is your man 50 grand, but this shit w/ Lebron just really gets me baffled. I know a lot of it can be guided by his shooting and I know that Lebron is not by nature someone who just volume shoots.. but his lack of taking over in a game 4 like this (that pretty much determines the series) is baffling.
Oh.. and just to make it clear, I'm not about losing because losing to the defending champs who just had the greatest regular season of all-time is not really an ugly mark on your resume.
I think Lebron is in his own head too much. By that I mean, he's thinking too much and always trying to heavily manage the game. He knows that he can contribute in all capacities (as an scorer, rebounder, and passer) offensively so he tries to just effectively do all those things.
The problem is that balance like that doesn't always work.
He's the leader. If he steps it up and starts scoring, it takes the pressure off the role players (like it did in game 3).
And we know he can score on this Warriors' team because he killed these muthafuckas all by himself.
I think that's the partially the problem. Last year, he had no choice but to just ball out 100 percent for them just to have a chance. Now, he's out there thinking too much. He's hesitant on his shot. He's hesitant to post up curry. He's not sure when to be more aggressive offensively so Kyrie just has to take the lead.
One the great things about Miami is that he didn't have to think too much. The team was perfectly built for him (when they were healthy). He just had to play..and when he took a mental break, Wade could take over the game too. He could effectively play the role player for long periods of time. Well, role player is not the right term.. he could be the balanced player likes to be and let other players shoot and Wade take over the offense a bit.
Contrast last years finals with this year. It's not ability.. Lebron just doesn't know when to take over games right now. This was the game for him to be aggressive and let his teammates follow his lead.. Especially in the 3rd when they had the lead. He went on a long dry spell in the second half. Stars need to score during those dry spells to take the pressure off the role players.
and I'm not bashing Lebron. I'll use another example of a gif you posted yesterday. When Jordan fucked up against Orlando..at the end of that game.. when he drove, pulled up at the free thow line but PASSED to Pippen and turned it over at the end of game 6 I think. He was thinking...not confident in his shot because he wasn't fully back after the retirement. Lebron doesn't look like he knows what he should do. It reminds me of his first season in Miami where he was deferring to Wade.
Low key... Lebron should have never left Wade. That was his perfect partner in crime and he Wade demanded enough of his respect to call Lebron out on the floor if he wasn't going 100 percent.
