Unfortunately there's no way the senate is gonna play nice on any replacement that the President really wants, but still this is huge. Didn't wish death on any of them, including Scalia, but I can't say that I'm unhappy that he's off the bench. Since there's less than a year left in O's term, I wonder if they'll play hard hardball and just not confirm anybody until the new president is in office (if they can do that...).
Another thing... this makes the election even more important, and the conservatives are definitely gonna use that as motivation, so I hope the other side uses it even more successfully.
