The picture you purport to be the flat Earth with an "ice ring" is a top down view of a globe. The moon is much quicker in its revolutions, and so will sometimes catch up with the Sun and cause ECLIPSES...
Likewise, the Sun rises and dips somewhat which creates a polar night at the arctic...
Basically what I'm saying, is that the gif I posted (showing moon and sun revolving) is not literal, but only to give you an idea of how Flat Earth works...
