Damon Dash Breakfastclub interview

Dames Boss mentality of something most won't get but he know's the value of his talent within the culture.

You might not like his mentality or his approach but neither did most when it came to Steve Jobs.As long as he get's what he want out of whatever it is he's doing, job is well done.Period

He controlled the interview while schooling them and talking down to them at the same time.Envy tried but he was no match.

Dame Dash reminds people of what's wrong with the music industry. People are so conditioned to being lied to they don't know how to same some one who is unfiltered.

If Jayz cut off Dame cause he is such a arrogant asshole why didn't he cut off Kanye?

Because at the time Rocafella broke up Dame was making Jayz more money then Yeezy is these days?

Co-sign..people hate Dame because the nigga is so blunt! Everything he said even though it sounded like a baby whining was true!

How did it hurt him? He been saying the same shit since hhe came back. Exaclty the same shit. The only thing that is change is he don't wanna talk bout jay-z which he explained at sway. Which is dumb by the way the reason that is.

Dame was talking crazy. I respected what he was saying on that Combact Jack podcast....but in this interview all he's doing is sounding bitter, crying, contradicting himself....the only gems he dropped was about how he's teaching his kids to be bosses....which I can respect....but he doesn't acknowledge that there's steps to that and he doesn't even bring up those steps. He's talking abou he was a boss out of the womb. No internship...no nothing. Just woke up with a million.

I really enjoyed the interview, dude is super arrogant, but I like people like that. :dunno:

I think he is wrong for clowning people who don't want to own a business or be the boss.
That responsibility is not for everyone. Some people want to get up everyday, go to work,
make a decent living and enjoy their family. There is nothing wrong with that. There is
also nothing wrong with making good money working for a company doing what you enjoy.
His rant toward envy was off the mark in my opinion.

Having said that I have a new respect for this crazy Mofo

I understand where Dame is coming from. Its true not everyone can be a leader but what he's trying to do is inspire these brothers and sisters to think that they could be more than what's on the table. And who knows they're probably working for some white owned company or CACS. This is not a NY problem it is a global problem for black people. When we examine the economic condition of Blacks in America, and throughout the world, we find one glaring problem—BLACK PEOPLE DO NOT CONTROL THEIR ECONOMIC RESOURCES AT THE LEVEL WE SHOULD. There are several factors for this. This is primarily due to our mis-education as as people. Whether we want to believe it or not but the fact are out there, in a disproportionate manner, Black folks be it in Africa or America depend on the European and Asian world for food, clothing, shelter etc. More often than not, the European and Asian worlds are the producers, processors, distributors, and wholesalers. Black people are the consumers and Dame in this case is trying to advocate group economics.

Just when people were really staring to listen.

See its like just as his name was ringing bells again

he went apesh*t

that whole BOSS argument, etc was some rambling bullsh*t

but there WAS some gems within it.

So a black man telling another to think independently and be how own boss is hurting?

Without economic independence tied to the acquisition of political power, Black people in America and Black people everywhere will continue to be the subjects of the whims of other people....

That's not what was hurting him. He straight dismissed people using jobs and working for someone to get their money up and fund their own entrepreneurship. He looks straight silly as if he never took any money from Def Jam to fund his label.

Real shit!

I don't see why its ok for crackers to put out images that basically makes our children aspire to be "Athletes" and "entertainers" both things being owned by THEM! When Dame sends out the message to our children that they can OWN shit...and they can push to OWN SHIT he is an asshole and bogish. Its backwards.

he didnt say that tho. he is talking about what he does and did. somebody like dame lives in his own world right or wrong. everything he said he did thats why he cant see it from a other perspective. his main point was u can start slow but at some point you have to be your own boss. which to me personally i dont agree with. cause some people just dont wanna be bosses period. not because they cant, but they just dont want to be it.

and about that whole no being a boss thing seems like a white/black thing to me. he likes to be white people bosses. anyway but thats because i listened to more interviews were he explained himself better. what he saying is if you are going to work with him for a long period of time like a mook or og daniels he is not seeing them as employees but as partners. who can later start they own shit.

now that white camera dude was just there to shoot the movie so yes dame was his boss. but lets say if that white was to shoot all dames movies in the future then that white dude becomes a partner. but again i understand it he came of wild if you didnt see previous interviews.

another thing is do you really think they going to let a nigga like dame get power? thats a cacs nightmare. this is what they dont want to happen.

The truth is most people don't do that! Most people work just because its easy..You are told what to do and when to do it. That is way easier then creating something and working for yourself! Most people find a good gig that pays decent and stay there because its a comfort zone. Yes I believe that everyone is not meant to be a boss but it really sad when a person will work 30 years for a company that can and will fire them just cause they feel like it. So basically you just gave 30 years of your life away and don't even own part of that company that you were loyal to...its backwards in my mind.

You missed the point.

I dont work in the media but I could tell the light skinned guy all he wanted to know is Dames' response to the social media gossips and the Jay Z Fall out. Same old question that he's been asked by the same light skinned guy in over 13 interviews.

I dont blame Dame for refusing to answer the Jay Z question. I can bet you this light skinned guy has never called Jay and asked him about this old age question that has been addressed before.

In addition the light skinned guy was shouting and getting more arrogant and in the end he lost out.

The central thesis of Dame's argument to the interviewer PLUS others in that work for the radio station (all of them are black) is they could be their own boss.

I cant see nothing wrong with a blackman advocating for the black empowerment among blacks.

Black people pooling economic resources is not an unrealistic fantasy or “wishful thinking” naysayers often want our people to believe. I can tell you in Africa we have our own AFRICA DEVELOPMENT BANK that is already financing lots of infratsructure and energy projects in different countries at a relatively low interest rates compared to what the WORLD BANK and other multilateral institutions offer Afrocan countries

In America, I wish to inform you that nationwide, efforts large and small are underway to put into motion the means and methods of making economic development and economic growth in Black communities not just a slogan but a functioning reality. exactly dames point is valid specially in this time. where companies dont give a fuck about you. and the economy is bad.

I gathered that Spike Lee doesn't like this guys Vibe, called him arrogant which he is.
I don't see Dame listening to damn thing Spike has to say, damn dude knows everything.

He is fun to listen to, but his head seems to be hard as a rock :hmm:

HNIC

The Spike Lee thing was kinda sad.

We're always quick to judge. I'm sure Harvey Weinstein doesn't shut out his fellow jews asking for advise in Hollywood.

Blacks are always on some civil/cold war shit. I guess divide and rule thing really worked on us.

This brother gets it.

Thanks for seeing the bigger picture.

And If Dame gets there they might even kill him. CACS are making so much money off blacks and they wouldnt allow ideas of self reliance that Dame is advocating to go viral among blacks.

With a buying power of over $1 TRILLION Blacks in America could harness those dollars to Black owned initiatives and opportunities for real socio- economic change would be limitless. CACS feeding off blacks wouldn't allow this shit.

peace

:smh:dead wrong worldstarring this:smh:
the lil nigga taping this if not mistaken is the one who wrote the screenplay to that Roc flick abt robbing houses & the JamesBond gang shit. KevinHart's 1st flick.
There are kats still doing time over that yet kat is still running around, 'flossing' which had many people looking @ him likec:idea:

Dame should drop business podcasts and stuff to inspire folks

Regardless of his flaws but he does drop some gems and I'm not gonna hate him for that

Lol how Can a broke nigga who lost it all talking shit teach anyone else?

Only thing he ever did right was meet Jay Z back in the day. Ever since they split he's had failure after failure.

Yall can believe that bullshit he's talking about putting every dollar back in the street all you want.

A guy who used to release movies in theaters is now reduced to releasing shit on Vimeo. And he's no where near the first guy to do that- vines been doing that for UP AND COMING film makers for years.

He doesn't wanna talk about Jay but he still ain't realized the only reason any media outlet will even have him up there is because of that past relationship with Jay.

Then he gets up there claiming to be his own boss- yes unhealthy owns 100% of nothing. And those people you're clowning for having bosses , are the media outlet you NEED for anyone to even know the bullshit you're putting out even exists.

Mool needs to RUN far from this nigga. But then again , Mook is still out there trying to get a million for w fuckin rap battle.

And even that makes no sense. He puts Mook down for not having the cake that Drake has when Drake has bosses.

Only thing he did was won at the shit talking contest and they let him.
Charlemagne too his biggest L yet in this one. He didn't have to let bum ass Dame son him like that but he did.

I actually felt Dame on that tho man. 5minutes in and you asking the same ole Jay Z questions. Shit is kind of dismissive of him and very lazy from an interviewers perspective.

this the reason he dont wants to talk about jay.

They not bosses then. Everyone is not meant to be a boss. Every plays their role in life. Being a boss is more than simply saying it and getting money. You have to be able to lead. Some people aren't leaders.

You and Dame just have a different mentality than most people. I'd like to think i'm leaning more towards you and Dame's thinking but that doesn't mean its for everyone. I'd rather be my own boss. Dame talks it well. I get what he's saying. He's just not getting his point across nearly as well as he thinks. His point is clouded by contradictions and crying and shit.

That light skinned guy is DJ Envy...I thought he made some decent points that Dame didn't have answers for so he'd rather talk over him and throw little shots here and there. But fact is, DJ Envy has made some solid moves for himself. Dame discredited all of these moves because he didn't come out of the womb as a boss. I'm from Texas but I remember when Envy was heavy in the mixtape game. Him, Clue, Kay Slay.....he turned that into a solid business and had made a good career for himself. So for Dame to discredit that? That's crazy to me. He's talking like he's a McDonald's cashier for 30 years.

he didnt say that tho. he is talking about what he does and did. somebody like dame lives in his own world right or wrong. everything he said he did thats why he cant see it from a other perspective. his main point was u can start slow but at some point you have to be your own boss. which to me personally i dont agree with. cause some people just dont wanna be bosses period. not because they cant, but they just dont want to be it.

Dame can't get power because he wouldn't know what to do with it. He's too hardheaded. You don't have to be the loudest most obnoxious nigga in the room in order to be heard.

He's just full of contradictions which leads me to believe he's just rambling and talking to get the last word in. Drop some knowledge to these young cats out here. We all trying to eat. But sitting here telling someone "Be a boss...." and that's that? If you really trying to educate than do it. But I don't know......i'm conflicted with Dame because I like what he's saying. Than there's the other 50% where its like this nigga is talking crazy.

Like even in this interview.....he didn't even let Murda Mook or OG get nothing out. He just leaned on OG to co-sign him. If you not co-signing Dame you're nothing to him. Guys like that man......naw. If you don't want to answer questions why even ask to be interviewed? I don't get it? If you want to answer your own questions why not put it on your website or whatever?

Spoke judging Dame without even listening to him was wrong.

Harvey Weinstein is one of the most powerful JEWS in Hollywood and I'm sure he couldn't just turn his fellow Jew who he could make money with without listening to him.

Spike Lee, Dame and other blacks, who are perceived as arrogant but when whites like these guys below you would see them as genius

Last time I checked Kanye was also perceived as arrogant but not Liam Gallagher who is the epitome of arrogance is seen as genius

I don't think Spike's REAL criticism of Dame is that he's arrogant. Spike is arrogant as well. I think "arrogant" was a nicer way of calling him a Asshole or Dick.

first he does that. second how can he not handle power? we all see what he did and still is doing. u can say what you want about dame but dude is been doing his own shit since the 90s maybe longer.

white people dont like when a black man dont see them as massa. thats why they got rid of him period. but anyway im not here to change your view if thats what u see that on you. i dont see it like that.

People can hate on Dame and yes he's a bit delusional, but dude was spitting TRUTH.
Everyone should be working to be their own boss so they can pass it on to their family.

His name is Jack Man and he is the founder of ALI BABA

I just don't agree with this. So all successful black people see white man as massa? Because they not as obnoxious as Dame?

Well to go with what you highlighted who did he talk shit to in order to get Ali Baba as successful as it is? I see the broke part but where the shit talking part.

Dame was on point sometime you got to sift through bullshit. People speak on Black Empowerment, that's basically what he speaking on. He was right what he said to ENVY.

Imagine if ENVY and that crew got a Satellite radio. Do people think they would actually stop listening ?
Dame is Blacklisted dude is a free thinker though  what he teach his kids is what all Black Folks should be doing. Sway could start his own shit too instead of Shade 45

What Dame was trying to tell the light skinned radio DJ is you have to learn how to start a company, grow a company and manage the company and have a legacy. I dont see nothing wrong with that. Dame even went as far as telling them all in that studio they could join up and set up their own instead of working for someone...by that he meant as PARTNERS. His point was if they build a brand and sell a brand, let that brand continue on.

In my opinion we tend to focus so much energy on our shortcomings instead of our strengths. I bet you know who is happy about this. Blacks as a race must learn how to build something, hold on to it and pass it on. This means our grand kids wont have to toil like we do AND the biggest issue now is that Blacks do not spend their $1 trillion with each other because our women are happy to buy cosmetics from Pakistanis and Koreans than our own shops. Black folks must then see the value in spending their money with those businesses. Its down to group economics and I'm down with anyone who has a message that will eventually empower our people.

did i say that tho? i say white people dont like black people that stand up for what they believe in. you can go back in history. you really see a man like dame fly in corporate america.
I guess i'm not too familiar with Dame what is he currently doing other than being upset with the culture vultures he use to help steal the culture? He talks shit about Lyor now but he was getting money with him.
he already explained that def jam didnt put up any money. and 2 lyor came in as the cool white guy and later they found out that he was a snake and didnt give a shit bout rap.

But what if they don't want to be bosses or own shit or put up their own money to lose it? That's what Dame doesn't seem to really care about. He's filed for bankruptcy and shit and he has no problem losing money. Maybe because he has enough of it or maybe because he's stubborn. I don't know exactly why. Like even his thinking of "Well i'd rather get experience by failing in a business than internships..."...like on one hand you respect it. But I don't think its realistic to expect a guy who has let's say 20,000 in his savings to invest all that shit just to go broke. Like it may work for Dame but not everyone is willing to risk that.

I understand Dame's thinking to an extent. Like Dame would rather make 250,000 by himself than make 50 million and not have full control. For me that's where the conflict comes in. Not Dame's thinking just mine.

This is what I was thinking.

Why work for the man while they could pull together the resources and start their own?

Some of our people are in their comfort zones that the thought of crossing over and self independence terrifies them. But you got to understand the damage and fear has been instilled to our people for so long that sometimes its tough making them see the bigger picture. All those black radio DJ's you mentioned have a cult following and anywhere they go listeners will always follow them.

As much as we have a hopeless generation now (our age range) we still have time for the future generation and we have to start investing into the mindset of our children. For instance, black parents could take their children and show them the example of what it means to start saving and have a real banking relationship instead of going into a relationship with the Currency Exchange, that’s going to grow into something significant within say 20 yrs time.

Group economics works with other communities and races I cant see why it cant work with blacks

I see nothing wrong with it either. But you can't make someone be a boss. You have the talent and you have the boss. Dame doesn't have the talent but he has the desire to be a boss. That hunger. Everyone does not have that. That's what Dame doesn't understand but to his credit he admits it. He admits he doesn't understand how or why someone would work for someone.

I'm not even trying to be funny but can someone tell me why Dame Dash is relevant?

Because of the nigga he refuses to answer questions about....JAY Z.

did i say that tho? i say white people dont like black people that stand up for what they believe in. you can go back in history. you really see a man like dame fly in corporate america.
he already explained that def jam didnt put up any money. and 2 lyor came in as the cool white guy and later they found out that he was a snake and didnt give a shit bout rap.

I'm just saying we don't know how or many of these black guys move just because they not in social media or on websites and shit.

And Def Jam didn't put any money up?

In 1997, Island Def Jam had already acquired a 50% stake in Roc-A-Fella Records for just $1.5 million dollars.

Roc-A-Fella executives renegotiated their deal several years ago and extended their contract with Island Def Jam for $20 million dollars, bringing the final selling price to just over $30 million dollars.

This that contradiction shit i'm talking about with Dame. He's full of them.
