Guardian of the Galaxy

I will disagree. And as far as dialogue ... "I am Groot (ad nauseum)"

Props to Vin Diesel...easiest hollyweird money he ever made

Not a bad movie, but definitely not great like people are saying...went on the strength of word of mouth and Thanos...but damn this was OK.

We'll just agree to disagree.

I thought Groot worked as a running gag. But mainly they set up rules in this world and didn't break them. I also like how they mixed humor and seriousness well.

I actually felt that world was in danger.

I never thought anyone was really in danger in the Avengers during the invasion because none of them ever stopped cracking corny one liners long enough to actually seem worried. And if they weren't worried, I sure as hell wasn't going to be worried. The whole invasion just turned out to be a chance to show off some special effects.

Hopefully, this is Marvel getting back to the feel of the golden age comics and we can see more smart, funny movies like this in the future.

All I got to say is that Thanos has been my favorite character since back when he was doing the Infinity Quest. If they don't make him as bad assed as he is in the comics I'm gonna be pissed.

Oh and yeah on second thought they need to work on his coloring. Thanos is purple and in Guardians they had him kinda blue.

And this is why Marvel's film are more enjoyable to me. DC takes shit way too seriously. They want to make every DC film some pretentious bullshit based on social commentary.
I can agree to a certain extent, mostly in regards to Watchmen and Constantine. Many would apply that criticism to Nolan, but I still regard Batman Begins and The Dark Knight to be the greatest one-two punch in the short history of superhero cinema.

The MCU also dabbles in social commentary, but they aren't as po-faced about it. Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the first Iron Man commented on drone warfare. The latter also commented on the war in Iraq. I think Marvel is bit more sly in how they get certain messages across. Their commentary never comes at the expense of entertainment value.

I said it last night and it's a good movie. Not as good as the Winter Solider by a long shot and definitely not as good as The Avengers. But they sure did make the most out of a movie based on a comic book few people are familiar with. I can't wait to see what happens when Thanos get the infinity stones. The post credit scene was weak and gotta say this movie is an example where they really could have used the Silver Surfer and Galactus.

Good movie. Not at all better than Avengers or Captain America the Winter Soldier, but overall still a good movie. After credit scene was lame though.

Movie was sick!!! Loved every bit of it. They really stayed mostly true to the comic books. It was funny and it was all around fun! Once again, loved it!!!

Thanos looks like he's going to be all CG and about the same size as the Hulk.

Best thing I read about the cameo (which I like personally)

"Howard the duck is in the Guardians of the Galaxy end credits sequence…

This means that Marvel has managed to take a third string character from it’s worst comic book based film of all time and place him in what is being called one of it’s best, and make the whole sequence awesome…All before DC can manage to make a Wonder Woman film, or a Flash film…This blows my mind…

That is all.."

this was a great movie. Action packed, funny and serious all at the same time.

We can all nitpick simple things but overall this was a good movie that served it purpose and expanded the Marvel Universe so that when Thanos shows up in Avengers 3 we are already prepped for the devastation......

so far the best Marvel movie of 2014.. and the second best Marvel Movie

1. Avengers
2. Guardians of the Galaxy
3. Captain America the winter solider
4. Amazing Spiderman 2

I heard or read somewhere, where this could be this generations (8 and up) Star Wars. I think that could be true if Marvel/Disney plays it right. I honestly don't even care if it ties into the rest of the Marvel movie universe. I just want more GotG!

Now way of knowing for sure, but I'm thinking that the Disney cats were the main reason for this movie getting made. It had the classic Disney Themes

"Kid without his parents (including one that dies)

"Has to learn something about himself in order to find his place in the world"

Add a couple of anthropomorphic characters along with a possible love interest that's just hinted at.

Now that I think about it, that's also the origin story of a lot of comic book stories as well

Someone else said it best, They made me care about these characters I only recently become aware of.

What make the appearance so ironic,I read that Disney was trying to sue Marvel, because Howard the Duck looked similar to Donald Duck..along time ago.....:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

there was a certain point in the movie where the crew went to a mining colony and you could see just how bad fox fucked up galactus and fantastic four from that scene alone. after seeing that scene it makes you even madder how they did galactus in that fantastic four movie by fox.

Yeah, they went out bad w/Galactus. There's no reason they couldn't have done him justice onscreen.

Knowhere.

The decapitated head of a Celestial might be the geekiest bit of Marvel cosmic lore to make it into the movie, but the film only goes partially into the history of the space port. Celestials are ancient, god-like, nearly indestructible beings, capable of creating galaxies. The Continuum Cortex inside the deceased Celestial’s head allowed the Guardians to teleport anywhere the galaxy might need saving. The port is also run by a talking cosmonaut dog named Cosmo, whom you can see in the film

Bet you none of y'all recognized ROM the Spaceknight in the Collector's building.

Just saw this today in IMAX 3D. Its an thoroughly entertaining kick ass space adventure with an lively cast who you fall in love with. Not an single second goes by where your bored with its excellent pacing but it does an great job telling the unknown anti heroes stories. An abundance of humor and action but not oversatured like transformers. My only gripe was that the sinister ronin was under utilized... his ruthlessness was never shown and yes by far the scariest marvel villain on the silver screen.... even thanos looked like a punk ass bitch compared to him.
