Because (for the 25th time) the only thing that matters is the bottomline dollar amount. His contract is not dependent on performance. All money is guaranteed. So for a guy who is on his last leg and who wont foreseeably get another contract in two years, any deal worth more total dollars exceeds one with less total dollars. Regardless of duration.
