~*~2014 NBA OffSeason Thread - Free Agency Starts - 7/1 12am ~*~

No doubt. *My point is though, it's probably more than just an apology. *The fact that he's not meeting with the Cavs, sent his boys to meet with them to lay out what he wants. *Now, some may say 'Oh Gilbert fucked up' and that could very well be true, but an alternative take is he really wants to come back, and its setting the scene to what has to or will have to happen to make it happen. *Ultimately, if he did say what he said regarding the letter, a desire to come back home may be too strong.

Something that Chris Carter said was LeBron is BIGGER than Gilbert, which is very true. *

Ultimately, this is just my opinion, however I don't believe it's a signal that he's staying in Miami, or else he could have just make his intentions to stay public, and then when questioned reference his situation with Gilbert and the letter as his reason why he didn't go 'home'.

I don't believe that

I mean that letter is 4 years old

Nothing has changed

Are you going to play there or not?

Exactly.

Shit is ridiculous...but I'll say this, if he spurns Cleveland again and throwing himself out as bait with all the same media fanfare as 2010, that nigga will forever be hated in Ohio.

Like I said a few pages back LeBron is very image/brand conscious.

He had to work EXTREMELY hard to rebound from that "decision" fiasco. There is no way he's gonna allow himself to take that hit again. If he knows or knew at any time he wasn't going to Cleveland he would have quashed it immediately. Leading that city on again, having the organization make moves and court players to his liking, only to spurn them once again for south beach would be irreparable to his brand.

The city of Cleveland would turn on him. He wouldn't be safe there, his family wouldn't be safe there, his brand would be destroyed and he'd get FLAMED in the media.

We need to be real and say it: in essence, USA Today is right. LeBron HAS to go back to Cleveland, and it's his fault it's this way.

Lebron don't have to do shit but play ball and make money

He don't owe Cleveland shit FOH.

Keep being delusional. But at least read what I said. Not once did I say he owes them anything. I'm saying that he's painted himself into a corner where it's either Cleveland or damage your brand and never go home again.

You're exactly right he doesn't owe Cleveland ANYTHING and I'm the first to say that. But if Cleveland is off the table and was never an option, tell them off rip THERE'S NO WAY IN HELL I'M COMING BACK TO CLEVELAND so they move forward and don't pursue him. Leading them on would be damning to his brand and would turn him into a prisoner in his own home town.

Lebron can't win in this situation.

He's going to be a villain in either OH, or FL.

A lot of people feel this has been dragged out, even though no one has forced any of us to be on the edge of our seats.

It's kind of like the crackhead blaming the dealer for selling him crack.

On the flip side, no one could convince me Lebron isn't enjoying the FUCK out of the world wondering what he's going to do next.

Couldn't have been me.

I'd walk out in public with a Cleveland t-shirt one day.

The next day, I'd be dressed down in Heat gear.

After that, I'd come out in Orlando Magic gear. Have their fans fucked up w/ false hope.

I'd give you niggas the ride of your lives.

Bron is from AKRON not Cleveland again he don't owe them nuffin

Now could it be the reason he is taking his time is
1. For Miami to get the money right on how they gonna divy up the cap
2. Creating room to bring another big name in ie: melo

Nah excel he can win.

I hate saying this, but his only win is in Cleveland and it's his fault it's this way.

If he leaves Miami he's only hated by bandwagon heat fans and the media in Florida. If he shuns Cleveland again for Miami the backlash will be EPIC. Basketball heads, fans of the game, fans of LeBron, and reasonable humans will accept and respect his decision to stay with Miami. But others, the national media (for the most part), LeBron haters..... Their voices will be deafening.

...which, by itself, it about third of all NBA fans.:lol::lol:

Whatever happens, there will be butt hurt fans.

Oh, and if Bosh waits and then Houston decides to match the offer for Parsons he's SOL.

At some point, somebody needs to man up and make a decision. James already knows what team he will have in either Cleveland or Miami. So either Bosh wants more $$ or to stay with Bron.

Right now he's playing with Bosh.:lol:

You keep hammering home this point, and I don't agree with this. To say that he's complicit, okay. But totally his fault? No, I ain't buying that.

How far away is Akron from Cleveland? You think the mufuccas camped outside his house RIGHT NOW is all from AKRON!?!?? You don't think shit will get worse if he does this again? This ain't the old days where people just throw shit at the team bus or boo really really loud. They come to your house now. They follow you in public. They mess with your family. They damage property. They vote with their dollar and boycott your products. His boys about to be in school in Ohio full time. How u think they gone be received if he crush that city a second time? it's bigger than a game for the city of Cleveland. You're talking about ramifications up to and including the economy of an entire city!

Again I say LEBRON DON'T OWE CLEVELAND SHIT!

But doing this again will damage his brand which he's work diligently to repair since "the decision" and will intrude on the safety of himself and his family in the state of Ohio.

And a big chunk of the blame for our being this way is on him.

Not really. Word is, he's already told Bosh to take care of himself and his family, and not to get too hung up on where he's going. If Bosh keeps dragging his heels, then that's a him issue.

Anybody whom is hurt by someone making a decision about their career is a/an idiot, loon, loser, pathetic. This is all about the media, if you choose to take this personal it's on you. I could give a fuck what lbj does, he ain't putting money in my pocket. It would be nice if he stayed down here, but that's not in my control so I'm just sitting back and enjoying seeing people invest their all into this shit.

Yeah that's what I was assuming also, that LeBron was playing with Bosh $$$$$$$.

LeBron shouldn't have to tell that man with a wife n kids to take care of his own though. Bosh should have done that on his own and it's a damn shame n very telling of him that he's still this dedicated to something other than the commitment he made to his family.

You can say that, but the reality is a lot of those people exist. They'll never admit it.

King T don't think he's a Stan.

It may not be solely on him, but a big chunk of the blame does fall on him. How's that saying go, "heavy is the head that wears the crown"?

He's the self proclaimed king. Best on the planet. His decisions/indecisions has brought the basketball world to a screeching halt. To say that he isn't at least partially responsible for what's going on and his part in the backlash he will UNFAIRLY receive for not returning to Cleveland minimizes the power he's already shown thus far. It can't be both ways. We can't acknowledge his influence then completely absolve him of his short comings....

Space age with this comment I'd consider you one of the reasonable fans I was speaking of in my post....

Important to remember that while report says the Letter is an issue. LeBron hasn't re-signed w/ Heat still Cavs in play just weird sequence.

Translation...go to Houston,so Miami can sign Melo and I can go back.

I think Cav fans can thank Donald Sterling...for making 'the letter' all the more relevant.

Gilbert broke two of the 10 business commandments.

Don't burn bridges.

Don't let emotions interfere with your business dealings.

Will that prevent 'Bron from coming back? Who knows, but Gilbert is a smart businessman who should've known better.
