~*~2014 NBA OffSeason Thread - Free Agency Starts - 7/1 12am ~*~

Can't see Love camp already told the cavs only way he is resigning if Lebron comes but word is Love is an asshole and everyone on Twolves roster hates this guy.

Love wants a max contract so if he is traded I see him staying but this guy personality??

also another thing to note.

The Cavs could have free cap space with dropping Anderson because he has a team option for next season but Lebron loves Anderson and the cavs are holding on to him for that reason.

cavs gave up a 2016 pick for the Boston to take those trades. Lebron or no Cavs are planning not to be back in the lottery

That pick not protected?

Again I said Mickey using the amnesty on Miller was huge. Remember Miller and Lebron are close. Miller named his son Maverick.

Lebron fought for Miller to come and Miller took a pay cut when other teams were offering more to join Miami.

Miami uses the amnesty on him to save money and thought Beasley was better because he was cheaper.

Miller went on to play all 82 games plus seven playoff games and had his best season in Memphis.

This is why people who say if Lebron resigns it will just be for a year to 3.

I'm say it again. Mickey let the luxury tax show his true colors and Lebron didn't like that

I didn't understand using the amnesty on Miller :smh:

He only had two years left, and his deal wasn't that bad.

Part of me would like to see lebron leave just see how it would play out in Cleveland. Would definitely be interesting

You can feel this way, because you're going to be a Heat fan regardless :dunno:

Yeah, Anderson is off limits because of Lebron. Basically a sign and trade with the Wolves if Lebron signs. They then go get Mike miller and Ray Allen.

I just can't see Bron leaving Miami. Doing all this shit and getting all these guys to play with you looks like "ring chasing" to me. A different form of ring chasing though. He signs with the Cavs and they gotta go out and trade for Kevin Love and bring in Mike Miller and Ray Allen? Man......its one thing to joint a young Cavs team but you going over there just to make them old? Stick it out with the Heat.

Him and Lebron play the same position

If it can get you Kevin Love? I'd do that in a minute

Wiggins isn't the next Lebron. He doesn't handle the ball like him and his play making is atrocious.

Kevin Love can stretch the floor, and he's a better rebounder than Bosh

Few observations

1. It's funny when a senario has lebron leaving it has to be verified times 8 and it's auto tossed out.

2. A even crazier scenario having melo go to the heat and them trying to trick bosh means yea that's what's going on lol.

3. The heat don't need much to win? Yes they do, did you not see the ass whooping they just took from the spurs? They can get back to the finals with the big 3 but what is that saying if you're going to get your ass handed to you 4 out of 5 games?

4. The heat don't need to make a splash in free agency.. according to you? Isn't that exactly what Lebron asked for? Not just little pieces here and there but some real talent to go along with him?

5 The players aren't doing anything wrong here. They can't sign till Thursday, they don't need to say anything until Thursday.

See to me the Cavs aren't as enticing without Wiggins and Waiters being there. I'm sorry fuck a Kevin Love. Granted, Kyrie still there but still. The potential of Waiters, Wiggins, Irving and Lebron sounded far more like a team that could go on a string of winning seasons. Its not worth leaving the Heat IMO to play with Kevin Love.

Yeah I'm nowhere near as high on Kevin Love as many are

That young nucleus you named seems much more enticing but it's probably not "win now" enough for Lebron

Kevin Love is 25

Can shoot and rebound

He might not be a number one on a team, but the hell if he ain't a number two.

25 year old Kevin Love or 30 year old Bosh
52 year old DWade or 22 year old Kyrie

Kevin Love and Kyrie have never played in a meaningful NBA game. Bosh and Wade are better.

Had Bosh ever played in a meaningful game until he got to Miami?

And the way Wade looks, he won't be playing meaningful in any other meaningful games for his career

Plus add that Varejao is in the last year of his deal

and Thompson is sure as hell better than Miami's mascot Haslem at this point

I think they might need to do something with Waiters, because I'm not sure if he fits

I'll wait until he plays in summer league to see what Bennett's weight looks like before I start calling him a bust. Heard he's in pretty good shape.

but if they can get a Mike Miller, James Jones or Ray Allen

That's not a better and younger roster than what he has with Miami?

Indiana and Chicago without Melo aren't beating that Cleveland squad.

Stephen A Smith, on ESPN radio, "If LeBron goes to Cleveland, then Melo will re-sign with New York..."

No shit Stephen

When the Cavs miss the playoffs again this year Ill be sure to bump this "better roster than the Heat" talk.

And Bosh led his team to the playoffs before joining Miami, unlike Kyrie, Love, Waiters, Thompson, whoever.

I think the Cavs would battle...not sure the finals in year one

I don't think the Cavs won't be above the other teams in the east

The Cleveland Cavaliers will trade Jarrett Jack to the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday as part of a three-team deal with Boston to create more salary-cap space for the pursuit of LeBron James, according to sources close to the process.

Mazzeo: Trade win-win for Nets, Cavs
Forsberg: Deal from Celts' perspective
Sources told ESPN.com that the Nets have agreed to take on the contracts of Jack and youngster Sergey Karasev from the Cavaliers in a swap that will also see the Celtics acquire Brooklyn's Marcus Thornton, Cleveland's Tyler Zeller and a protected 2016 first-round pick from the Cavaliers.

Cleveland is expected to take back a young prospect or two whom Brooklyn has already drafted just to complete the transaction, but no one who will be on its roster next season. The moves will give the Cavaliers significant financial flexibility by shedding the contracts of Jack, Zeller and Karasev.

Meanwhile, ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard reports that the Cavaliers, in addition to James, are also now trying to strike a deal with free-agent guard Ray Allen and/or forward Mike Miller as a means of enticing James even more about a return to Cleveland.

After briefly considering retirement following the Heat's loss to the Spurs in the NBA Finals, Allen is leaning toward returning for a 19th season, sources said.

According to ESPN's Tom Penn, the trade of Jack sheds $9.5 million in salary (Jack, $6.3 million; Zeller, $1.7 million; Karasev, $1.5 million), giving the Cavaliers $21.7 million in cap space.

The Nets first had talks with the Cavaliers about Jack before the trading deadline last season but ended up dealing Jason Terry and Reggie Evans to Sacramento for Thornton.

The two teams revived trade talks shortly after the end of the season with the idea that Jack could be a replacement for Shaun Livingston, who agreed to sign with Golden State in free agency. A league source said the Nets also had a strong interest in Karasev, whom they were high on during the 2013 draft.

Karasev was selected 19th overall, and the Nets took Mason Plumlee at 22nd overall.

Karasev gives the Nets another young forward to develop alongside Bojan Bogdanovic, who has agreed to a three-year deal with the Nets for their mini midlevel exception, according to a source.

The trade can't be officially consummated until Thursday, when a league-wide moratorium on signings and trades is lifted at 12:01 a.m.

Large bills name names bruh

There's a plethora of names that fit that description that's why I didn't quote..too many to quote.

Everybody has a 50% chance of being right. My thing is, don't auto dismiss one far fetched scenario cause it doesn't fit what you want, then make up another and go with that though it's just as unlikely as everything else.

Thursday we'll know

C'mon, Bron.

I'd rather see this dude run the tables for the rest of the decade in MIA than go back to Cleveland. :smh:

Unless Melo goes to Chicago, who else could challenge Cleveland with Lebron?

Toronto? Washington?

After shedding nearly $22 million in cap space in a proposed three-team trade, the Cleveland Cavaliers are also pursuing free agent shooting guard Ray Allen and forward Mike Miller, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard.

Ray Allen has stated a desire to continue playing alongside LeBron James. Both players are being pursued by the Cavaliers.
The cap-clearing maneuvers would primarily allow the Cavs to make a max offer to LeBron James, but Allen and/or Miller also could join Cleveland under team-friendly deals.

Allen and Miller are good friends with LeBron, having played with him for two and three seasons, respectively, with the Miami Heat.

Allen made $3.6 million last year. He likely would have to take a pay cut to join the Cavaliers should they land James and pay him the max salary, which is $20.7 million for next season. If the Cavs want to pay Allen and/or Miller more, they'd have to clear additional cap space.

Allen has spent the past two seasons as James' teammate with the Heat. He was said to be considering retirement after Miami's loss in the NBA Finals, but sources said he has since changed his mind and is leaning toward returning for a 19th season in the league.

Allen, who will turn 39 on July 20, played 73 games in the regular season and all 20 postseason games for the Heat. He averaged 9.3 points per game on 41 percent shooting in the playoffs.

After the Heat lost in Game 5 of the Finals, Allen said he felt good about his career and had a clear mind as he faced his summer options.

LeBron James playing under Cavs owner Dan Gilbert would say a lot about NBA's great owner-player divide. Story

"One thing is for certain, to [make a decision] on my terms is the most important thing," Allen said. "Whether that is me retiring, staying here or going somewhere else, it will be on my terms. I've made it to this point, and I felt great that I have the choice to make it for myself."

Miller played with James in Miami from the 2010-11 season to 2012-13. He was waived last July as part of a financial move that saved the Heat as much as $17 million on future luxury-tax payments.

Miller ultimately signed with the Memphis Grizzlies, averaging 7.1 points and 1.3 3-pointers per game.

James previously has spoken of his close relationship with Miller. In May, he said not having Miller on this past year's team could be felt significantly.

"Yeah, he was just that stable guy," James told BleacherReport.com. "I mean, Mike, everything that he went through, both injuries and being in and out of the lineups, and not one day did he ever come to work with an 'I don't want to be here' attitude. Like never. And we all respected that. And for a guy like that who's done so much in his career, to come in with that mindset every day, we all saw that."

With lebron james?

They would.

He just got through carrying dead weight to the finals.. they buzz sawed through the east to the tune of a 12-2 record.....

I think these niggas love being courted, too. :hmm:

Got motherfuckers blowing up your phones, trying to fly to where ever you are...

...shit probably makes Lebron feel good about that L in the Finals. To know, no matter what, he can still make old white men fall over themselves can't feel BAD.

ya I would love to see lebron go back to cleveland and melo to the bulls...makes the east a bit more interesting...shake shit up a bit

Free agent LeBron James along with his agent Rich Paul will meet face-to-face with the Miami Heat today at 3pm (PST), league source says.

cavs were gonna free up that space regardless...if you've been following along you'd honestly know that

Cavs just unloaded Jarrett Jack, freeing up more cap space... Could there already be sort of a deal in place between them and LeBron? Could this Heat meeting be out of respect for the Heat team and management, with LeBron doing it this way instead of how he left Cleveland the first time, to avoid the backlash of not doing his departure the right way? Could the lure of leading a young team be too much for him to pass up?
