We saw the future core of this team

Johnson
Brooks
Yedlin
Green
Native American dude who's name I'll learn between now and 2018

Prevent defense..

1 dude going forward just doesn't work. you need multiple threats on the pitch

every sub that was young that we brought in came in like they were vets and had no fucking fear

the moment was not too big for them

give them some run

1st touch dude aces a goal

1st touch

Beasley and Johnson bombing forward on overlaps. That creates an attacking 6.

He's in Bayern's reserves! He's only going to get better(hopefully).

Also, Americans love stats. LOL.

ANOTHER THING

How the fuck is it possible, for a country that loves stats....especially irrelevant ones....that I can get no stats at the half or after the match? I'm not even asking for player markings or distances covered......but can I get possession stats, or shots, shots on goal, fouls?

Shit give me something.

don't worry

next world cup you're going to have a hologram from espn giving you vital signs on all the players fitness levels

they're all in now

And I know he will get better but lets keep shit in perpective a little bit. Plus he decided to play for the US because he knew he'd get no time with Germany......a la Bayern haha

That's what we need to do.

Attack I feel we wasted Howard's prime with the old dudes

i don't fault the coach for it but the only way you can win is if you go for it

Agreed.

I will say this... Howard is 35... If he stays relatively fit, he could very well do this again at 39 in Russia one last time.

that's coaches decision though.

Instead of being lost in the cracks he gets a chance to shine.. they don't always make the right decision when it comes to whether someone talented plays or not

Agreed.

I don't know who the next up and coming keeper is but after Kasey and Timmy....I have confidence the next keeper will be of quality. (might be a little presumptuous of me but whatever)

I'm not trying to open no gamecast

I can watch the NBA and see a damn graphic on how many dunks Lebron James had in a quarter with the degrees and speed of rotation and the pounds of force from his feet off the take off.....but I can see how many shots on goal were taken on my tv. Fuck that shit.

Ohhh... lol we aint there yet champ.

Like bills said though, you'll have that in Russia. ESPN and this country are all in now. These US games have shattered NBA Finals and World Series numbers, and we didn't make it to the quarters.

he could

but let's snatch a kid out of high school with nba level athleticism and teach him how to be a keeper over the next 4 years

a big 2 guard with the reach basketball players have as well as hands.. would do the trick

Kawhi leonard won't give up any goals

Bill Hamid homey. Future of US Goalkeeping and who's idol is Tim Howard.

We're getting closer. Even though we got outplayed, Wando had a real chance to blow this up... the U.S. would have gone bananas if he would have put that in. All it's going to take is one deep run. This would have been the year too because our side is kind of soft..because Argentina is NOT looking good..they're being saved by Messi every single game.

How I would've love to play them!!!

We probably would've gotten our asses handed to us, but fuck it... we're there!

Is that a DC United crest I see on his uni? Well I will be looking forward to seeing him do his thing for the nation

Yessir it is. I think Billy and Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire) are poised to take the US goalkeeping throne. Not too many in their age range are fooling with these kids.

However, I think they need to leave MLS soon to get experience playing the elite.

That's because this is more of an 'event' that happens every four years. That's what captivates people about it. These same types of things were said last go round when we got out the first group and nothing changed.

In a couple months, football will be ready to start and playoff baseball.....and sports fans will forget all about this until the next World Cup.

America is a long, long way away from suporting and loving soccer like the three major sports we do now.

This was fun and cool but that's about it....

Nothing changed?? Really?? Look at the attention the broadcast outlets have given the Premier League, La Liga, and the Champions League....

"Nothing's changed.." is a bit harsh. ALOT has changed in a small 4 years.

Now of course we're not going to have the entire nation on board, but we don't need that. That's not even the goal really. There's some 350 million people here... Give me 10% of that dedicated to the sport, and we're good. There are some top footballing countries in the world that don't have that.

I think Ian Darke said, "Belgium has a population no greater than the state of Maryland."

There are plenty of hotbeds of football in this country, and with every world cup, we bring on more and more people who would rather spend their weekends watching Barcelona v Madrid than watching the Yankees and Redsox.

You just don't know about them because it's no broadcasted in mainstream media, but even that's changing.

This cup is no different. More kids are gonna be playing in the streets more than ever before and so long as they get they can make $$$$ from the game, the sponsors will be there, the coverage will be there, and the talent will pool through.

Look at Yedlin.

True. But sometime next decade, soccer will at least be even with Hockey. It's only a matter of time. Football is uniquely American and basketball, although global now, was basically an American thing until the last two decades.. but now it's becoming big in other countries. Soccer is coming...every Cup it's bigger and bigger... the game against Germany was the most watched U.S. event all year besides the super bowl.

I have the power play the MLS needs to make right now.

They need to start up a televised draft.

They need to find the absolute BEST soccer player in the U.S.

the best.. black or latin one

and sign him right out of high school to a multi million dollar deal.

something like 6 years $36 million right out of high school.

as soon as that happens. the entire culture of soccer will change in this country.

dudes don't want to go to spain and russia and the uk away from their family to play soccer...

that concept doesn't resonate with them.

making money and playing in chicago or san jose?

parents will be like where do we sign up?

Be patient man it's coming.

I was riding home this evening and noticed something I've never seen before in one particular neighborhood.

I saw young brothers in the hood playing SOCCER with goals setup on both sides and all I could do is smile

It's starting to catch on....

I disagree man...

That exact same draft scenario could happen and it wouldn't change a thing.

The only thing that could even remotely give it a push would be a young phenom like Tiger Woods coming along and captivating American like he did in golf. And, even that is a long shot because golf is still vastly more popular here than soccer.

Shit...I bet you the majority of the people who tuned in for our matches these past couple weeks don't even know the rules of the game!

I know me and my peoples sure didn't...

:lol::lol:

I coached an all black team in my rec leagues here in 2008 (we got dubbed team Obama) anyways...we went undefeated for 2 seasons in a row. Kept them together until they all turned 18years old over the years (started traveling up to Atlanta, Stone Mountain, Alpharetta) we went a strong 75-4-2 and the damn newspaper did a write up about us. All of them still play and started at their High Schools and 11 received state and local honors here in Georgia. Once we as black men will stop putting the game down and forcing NFL hopes on kids they'll play it and LIKE IT.

Right but we aren't the target audience lol

unfortunately if you're over 15, it's already too late.

I guess what I'm saying is....there were a bunch of articles saying this exact same thing four years ago when we advanced but I haven't noticed anything change in terms of sports fans interest in soccer.

Let's revisit this two years from now and see what America's interest in soccer is.

I highly doubt the needle moves much, if at all...

Yeah...you're right

Can't disagree with any of that

My dad had no interest in baseball as a sport for me to pursue. He wanted me to play basketball like he did.
I was about 4 and saw some kids playing for a team at a field.. i asked to go check it out and i did.. we watched and i said i wanna play that.. so guess what? the next season I was in baseball and that was it.

That's what's going to happen in hoods across america the only problem is the soccer programs need to be available and cheap to usher more kids in
