Teachers' hefty salaries are driving up taxes, and they only work nine or ten months a year! It's time we put things in perspective and pay them for what they do -- babysit!

We can get that for less than minimum wage.

That's right. Let's give them $3.00 an hour and only the hours they worked; not any of that silly planning time, or any time they spend before or after school. That would be $19.50 a day (7:45 to 3:00 PM with 45 min. off for lunch and planning -- that equals 6-1/2 hours).

So each parent should pay $19.50 a day for these teachers to baby-sit their children. Now how many students do they teach in a day...maybe 30? So that's $19.50 x 30 = $585 a day.

However, remember they only work 180 days a year!!! I am not going to pay them for any vacations.

LET'S SEE....

That's $585 X 180= $105,300 per year. (Hold on! My calculator needs new batteries).

What about those special education teachers and the ones with Master's degrees? Well, we could pay them minimum wage ($7.75), and just to be fair, round it off to $8.00 an hour. That would be $8 X 6-1/2 hours X 30 children X 180 days = $280,800 per year.

Wait a minute -- there's something wrong here! There sure is!

The average teacher's salary (nationwide) is $50,000.

$50,000/180 days = $277.77 per day / 30 students = $9.25 / 6.5 hours = $1.42 per hour per student -- a very inexpensive baby-sitter and they even EDUCATE your kids!)

WHAT A DEAL!!!!

Make a teacher smile; repost this to show appreciation for all educators.

The sad thing is that some teachers are doing both the educating and the parenting. I was speaking to a teacher friend of mine and she's an older teacher she says she has become so dismayed by the parents attitudes because she has had parents pretty much tell her that what ever the issue is they at the school have to deal with it because that is what they are there for. :hmm:

I watch how my son is with his teachers and have to say gotta give them props because him being a child with ASD its not easy. Educators should get the props they deserve always.

Homeschooling, Community Schooling. Tax exemptions for the teachers. Paid by the communities themselves and donation funding. Young. Enthusiastic black men and women who really want to educate.

Key.

People wouldn't believe the stories teachers can tell you about parents. I've personally been told to deal with their child because it's my job. Keep in mind some of these students need extra support because of medical issues. Its an amazing career to have even though sometimes it becomes like a hate/love thing.

You are a horrible individual who takes predatory advantage of persons who may be mentally ill, and vulnerable.

The views you may have are discredited by the person you are, and your actions.

You are truly a piece of shit.

The fact is, for those old enough to remember, these issues with schools for the most part didn't exist prior to the early 1970s. There were problems then, but since Brown verses Board of Education was finally implemented in the late 1960s, whites have declared war on public education. Up until the late 1960s the country did almost anything to fund schools and aid teachers.

In the southern US, whites virtually pulled out of the public school systems. In the Northern US, school funding schemes were radically changed to isolate the inner city schools and redirect resources to the suburbs and small towns. When was the last time a high schools was built in a large American city?

No doubt the parents must become involved with their children's education. Sending children off to school in the morning and waiting for them to arrive a home in the afternoon and relying on the schools a teachers to get you children to learn ain't gonna cut it! Instilling a sense of educational curiosity and then nurturing that is a task many Black parents need to take more seriously.

If sociality would value the teaching profession as highly as Wall Street fund mangers and CEOs, the most talented would want to become teachers.

Nothing wrong with this post at all.

Guidance Counselor for 12 years.....

You can't possibly pay a teacher enough at this point.

Year 1 my attitude ah its tough but its rewarding.

Year 12 Im out of here! Parents don't parent system set up for failure, and I put in so many hours my sons grand father who drives public bus makes more then I do and doesn't take work home. (No disrespect to public bus drivers)

C/S

put I have to ad that white people have taken many public school and created their OWN fiefdoms.

These schools have been taken over and Black families have been either spaced out or zoned out. I've explained before that MANY of this public schools now RIVAL private schools (and catholic schools are damn near extinct) The new thing are these Independent Schools where some parents are taking out LOANS for K-5.

We as people need to take much more ownership of our educational system not only as active parents put as actual educators (Black men are scarce in the teaching ranks in the lower grades).

Until there is more money in it, that will always be the case. Like anyone else, why go to school and get a decent paying job that gets disrespected so openly when a better paying gig is available?

Because its an individual's passion & rewarding.

One problem I see in society (mainly due to capitalism) is that we teach our young ones to follow the dollar instead of their hearts. I understand why, but the security of a steady paycheck often comes at the expense of a well balanced & fulfilling life....then we have broken people raising/breaking more broken people......and the cycle continues.

:lol::lol::lol:

Teachers dnt make enough......especially public school teachers..... Shcools in low tax base communities tend to have the most social issues that they bring to schoool with them. Combine that with parents who dnt care, can't read, on drugs, abusive, hunger & the drugs the kids are on..... + the indoctrination of homosexuality via the curriculum....
What do you have time to teach?

Mainly White ones.

When you can support yourself and a family with your passion, then that's great. But if you're going to further your education and engage in hours of training, it's reasonable to expect anyone not just Black men, to take a better paying job that isn't used as a political scapegoat for all of society's ills.

All teachers are not equal, some have skills and expertise that are in higher demand than others, for example it stands to reason that if you are a pro at mathmatics or computer coding there will be a bigger denand for you over a general teacher who knowledge is limited.
Top teachers create a bidding war from the top schools, and this is where their salary is driven up.. To compete with the pruvate schools many states have created charter schools (well I know ny has) as an effort of retaining quality teachers lost in the private schools bidding wars.
The problem really isnt them getting paid well, its lack of qualified teachers who are willing to take the pay the board of education is paying..

They are like paid athletes also, the goid ones are highly sought out by richer firms, often creating a bidding war.

That's not always true. Many of these execs fail miserably at one firm and go right to another 7-8 figure job. Unlike paid athletes, there are no punishments for lack of performance.

Bullshit!

The so called best athletes have to perform in order to get paid.

Corporate executives are over paid whether they perform excellence or not.

You obviously have forgotten the crash of 2008.

I'll be waiting.

Trust me if you want to really get paid as a teacher pad your resume and have private schools bid on ya..
For example if you have an expertues in rovbotics and higher mathmatics, watch how they would come bidding for you..
The real problem , especially the inner city, these schools are so desperate for decant teachers, many of them are forced to over pay, average workers just to keep the lityle warm bodies they have. Most good teachers bounce to private schools with money or corp america wgere there is real money.

Thats like dumb teams that keep rehiring losing front office people, in spite of their poor track record.

Are the students that can afford private schools the only ones that deserve a quality education?
