Bobcats-Heat Preview
STATS LLC

The Miami Heat are cruising through their best stretch since an epic winning streak earlier this year. That's not likely to change against the Charlotte Bobcats -- even if LeBron James doesn't play.

It's possible James misses a game for the first time this season as the Heat seek a 10th straight win overall and 14th in a row over the visiting Bobcats on Sunday night.

After finishing with 27 points in a 90-83 win at Toronto on Friday, James is averaging 27.6 points on 61.1 percent shooting -- including 14 of 28 from 3-point range -- during Miami's nine-game winning streak.

It's the franchise's longest run since its 27-game streak Feb. 3-March 25 that was the second-longest in NBA history.

James, though, said after the contest that he was looking forward to Saturday's day off after injuring his back in a collision with Toronto's Tyler Hansbrough. According to reports, it's possible the reigning MVP could be held out of Sunday's game.

"It bothered me throughout (Friday's) game," said James, who hasn't sat out since some relatively meaningless regular-season games in April. "That's definitely a step backwards, but we'll see what happens the next couple of days."

The Heat (13-3) won 89-79 in Charlotte on April 5 even with James and Dwyane Wade out due to minor injuries, then they beat the Hornets for the 13th straight time with a 97-81 road win Nov. 16 when James scored 30. He's shot 80.4 percent (37 of 46) in his last three games against them, averaging 31.3 points.

Wade had a season-low four points in that last meeting, bothered by a knee problem which caused him to miss the next two games. He's scored more than 20 points in all four games since returning, averaging 23.0 while hitting 62.7 percent from the field.

Chris Bosh hasn't been much help offensively, scoring 5.7 per game on 7-of-24 shooting in the last three, but he helped Miami hold all of those opponents below 40.0 percent from the field.

The Bobcats (8-9) have not shot better than 35.0 percent in any of the last three meetings with the Heat, and they've averaged 86.9 points during their 13-game skid in the series.

Charlotte's Kemba Walker finished with 22 points in the first meeting this season and had 20 in a 109-77 loss in the team's most recent trip to Miami on March 24. Walker, however, has totaled 25 while missing 21 of 27 shots in his last two games overall.

Behind Al Jefferson's season highs of 23 points and 12 rebounds, the Bobcats snapped a two-game skid with a 92-76 victory over Eastern Conference-worst Milwaukee on Friday.

Jefferson, who has battled a nagging ankle injury all season, has posted 18.0 points per game over his last four.

"We have to get him the ball deeper (in the paint) consistently if we're going to beat the best teams," said first-year coach Steve Clifford, whose club is among the league's worst offensively with 88.6 points per game and 40.7 field-goal shooting.

Things aren't likely to get any easier against a Miami team that has given up an average of 90.9 points on 41.1 percent shooting during its streak.

Bobcats starting forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is expected to return after missing one game due to plantar fasciitis.

Charlotte has won four of five on the road but has dropped seven straight in Miami.

We got Indiana again on the 10th and 18th. Hopefully we can even things up a bit before the year is out.

It's crazy how the whole Atlantic Division is below .400. Every last one of those mofos are behind the Bobcats and Pelicans so far.

everybody think the heat are unbeatable....:smh:

no ones unbeatable but basketball(nba) is about matchups..thats it; the game comes down to matchups...now the only way to beat the heat in a 7 game series is to consistently dominate them inside; not win inside but consistently dominate; no team is gonna beat them on the perimeter; so all you have to do is look at the teams that can consistently dominate them inside; and consistently is the key word; they won last two years with bosh being hurt the first and wade the second; so if they are at full strength whose gonna beat them???and if oden is giving them anything, meaning he can stop them from being dominated inside, whose gonna beat them?????

Heat rally past Bobcats behind Chris Bosh's late sharpshooting
Associated Press

MIAMI -- Chris Bosh scored 13 straight points for Miami in the final minutes, including a trio of 3-pointers that capped a late rally, and the Heat found a way to beat the Charlotte Bobcats 99-98 on Sunday night to extend their winning streak to 10 games.

Bosh's three 3s came in a 79-second span, the last of them putting Miami up 93-91 with 1:20 left.

LeBron James led the Heat with 26 points, Bosh finished with 22, Dwyane Wade scored 17 and Mario Chalmers added 12 for Miami, which has beaten the Bobcats 14 straight times.

Kemba Walker scored 27 points for the Bobcats, who had led the entire second half until Bosh's barrage. Gerald Henderson scored 17, and Al Jefferson finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds for Charlotte.

That might have something to do with it, but teams also elevate their play against the Heat.
We've seen this since day one. Also the play selection also dictates close games. If they would choose to display a demanding post offense, games would be over quickly. There's no reason each of the big ain't averaging 20ft attempts a game.

Pistons-Heat Preview
STATS LLC

As if the Miami Heat hitting their stride wasn't intimidating enough for opponents, there seems to be a new element of Chris Bosh's game to cause concern.

The Heat look to extend their latest winning streak to 11 games Tuesday night when they host the Detroit Pistons.

In Sunday's 99-98 victory over the Bobcats, Bosh scored 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds, but it was where his points came from that was surprising. The forward scored 13 straight points in the fourth quarter, including three 3-pointers -- his most ever in a quarter and tied for his single-game career high.

"It kind of just happened," Bosh said. "I was wide open so I figured I would take a step back and in the words of our late teammate Mike Miller, `let it fly.' That was really it."

Bosh is playing nearly five fewer minutes per game than he was last season, but that hasn't kept him from adding some range to his jumper. He's seven 3-point makes away from matching his career high -- set in 2012-13 -- and is attempting nearly two per game.

With the Heat (14-3) leading the NBA in field goal percentage (51.3), Bosh's ability to be a threat from beyond the arc has made them that much more difficult to defend.

"We have no problem shooting wide-open looks," coach Erik Spoelstra said. "(Bosh) has been putting a lot of time in, before and after practice.

"Once he hit the first one, the second one, you could tell he wanted it."

Miami's shooting percentage is so impressive partially thanks to James, who is shooting 59.8 percent from the field -- by far the best mark of any forward in the league. James is shooting 64.8 percent in his last seven home games.

James has averaged 29.3 points on 63.2 percent shooting in his last four home games versus Detroit. The Heat have won all five at home against the Pistons since James and Bosh's arrival, including two last season by a combined 46 points.

Bosh and James will have their hands full in the post with Pistons center Andre Drummond, who is coming off one of the best single-game performances in the NBA this season. Drummond had career highs of 31 points, 19 rebounds and six steals Sunday in Detroit's 115-100 win against the 76ers, becoming the first player since Hakeem Olajuwon in 1990 to record that line.

"It was a great team win," Drummond said. "For me, it was a good game for me; played well. I was in the right spots at the right times."

Drummond is shooting 65.2 percent from the field, but he's just 17 of 53 (32.1 percent) from the free-throw line. The 76ers started intentionally fouling him in the third quarter, and Drummond missed 11 of his 18 attempts from the stripe.

"Andre's a great young player, but I told him tonight that he needs to learn from this," coach Maurice Cheeks said. "If he becomes a better free-throw shooter, no one will be able to knock him out of a game."

To have a chance to knock off Miami, the Pistons (7-10) may need Drummond and Greg Monroe to dominate the glass -- something they've proven capable of doing lately. Detroit's plus-6.1 rebound differential since Nov. 20 is the Eastern Conference's best, while Miami's minus-3.2 margin this season is among the worst in the league.

The Pistons had a plus-5.3 margin against the Heat last season but lost two of three meetings. Monroe averaged 27.0 points and 13.5 rebounds in the two losses in Miami.

The Heat have won seven of the past eight meetings at home by an average of 12.0 points.

Dwyane Wade To Decide If He'll Sign Kobe-Type Contract Or Discounted Deal
Dec 02, 2013 6:11 PM EST

Dwyane Wade gave a diplomatic answer when he was posed the question about whether his new contract in free agency will be a Kobe Bryant-type contract or a discounted deal like Tim Duncan's and Kevin Garnett's in the past.

“When I get into that position, it’s something I’ll think about,” Wade said. “You have to sit down at the time and see what is best for you and for your team.”

“D-Wade is getting that Kobe deal,” LeBron James said from the next locker.

Wade was glad to see the two-year, $48-plus million extension that Bryant signed with the Los Angeles Lakers last week.

“As a player, I loved it. Everyone who gets what they get deserve, it’s great,” Wade said. “There’s a reason the Lakers felt that Kobe should get that money. There’s no right or wrong.”

The Heat likely would like to work out with Wade a similar situation to when Shaquille O'Neal signed a flexible deal in 2005. Wade has stated he intends to re-sign with Miami in the offseason.

“I remember when Shaq did that,” Wade said. “Not everyone is going to do that.”

I get it, when the jumper is working he can score, but he needs to do something more than just rely on that shot, because if he misses two things happen, one is the shot is missed and two their tallest player on the floor is out of position for any possible rebounds.. I also get the who concept of pulling the PF out and stretching the defense, but if I was playing against the Heat I would welcome that shot and dare him to hit it, knowing that three out of every four games he will not kill you with it.

Everybody think the Heat are unbeatable....:smh:

Put it this way, the Indiana Pacers started playing at this level of play, last year during the playoffs, and the Heat still beat them, and when the Heat played on all cylinders the Pacers was no match what so ever, the same can be said about the Spurs.. The bottom line, once the Heat play at that high octain level, not only can they beat the best, those teams don't even have a shot at beating them..
This is why its very important for the Heat to find the winning formula this way they can avoid the playoff drama they had to go through last year... I think by not starting Haslem is a star in the right direction, Beasly and even Cole knocking down that consistent three pointer while playing under control is another step... Getting Bosh to be more assertive in the paint would be another huge step.

I think the spurs beat themselves in the game that could have ended the series so how are the heat better than them?

spo putting bosh in the paint and making him at least the #2 option in the offense is the only step needed...that and staying healthy..i swear the heat operate way more efficiently when bosh and lbj post up;....

P.s. I believe spo holds the heat back; they could be much more better offensively if he added just a few things...
