Since I was a teen I have always had a little beard going on but I could never get it to grow as a healthy mane. The longer it got the more split ends I would get and the shit would end up getting brittle and basically fall out ending up back to being damn near as short as it was when it first started growing. Any brothers have any tips or products for helping a brother grow a healthy beard?
Shit if any of the brothers have "freeways" drop some knowledge on how to get that shit right. I am mainly looking for shit to stimulate healthy growth.

All bullshit post will be ignored.

My issue recently has been gray hair..found my first one last week on my side burns..Im 37..what if anything do y'all do to keep it grown up..Do you dye part of it and leave a bit for the distinguished gentleman look?

I would say leave the grey but it is all up to personal preference. If you do want to dye it though I think you are supposed to dye the whole beard fam.

My advice is to not shave it, take a pair of tweezers and pull it from the root that way it won't grow back fast! If the whole beard is getting gray you just might have to dye it!

Happy i only get like 2 but i can tell i won't grow a full beard of gray.

Castor oil and baby oil

When you wash your face in the morning wash your beard.

Get some Shea butter (a brick of it) rub it in you beard and comb it thru with a small comb.

Keep the comb on you at all times, when your beard gets itchy don't scratch it, comb it.

Line it up once a week, trim the split ends once a month and watch it grow!.

Was looking into that today and JBCO...a lot of good shit said about those. Any specific brands you recommend?

Will the Shea butter stimulate growth? Yeah I heard that itching your beard will stop growth..whats up with that?

As far as growing my shit comes in patches, but I can see little hairs where there are patches my girl says just let it grow but I can't look like a fucking chipmunk for a month. Y'all know anything to help with that shit?

Fuck that dye fam. Get your grown man on! I'm 39 and started to get greys around 37 and you'd be surprised how many females like the salt and pepper look (Even younger chicks  It screams Alpha Male) Dye is for them still wanna be young mid life crisis Mo Fo's at least in my opinion :dunno:

aint no magic oil going to let hair grow , hair doesn't absorb nutrients, if you want want nutrients you have to eat it.

Shit I can't even grow one.Goatee can't even connect. :crying:

Facial hair straight on Struggle mode. :smh::smh::smh:
I feel you, I have always been able to grow a pointy shape beard(vampire looking shit) with decent length but the Goatee will never connect either but I have also never shaved there because shit..it doesn't grow there. I use to hear that if you shave the sections with no hair and will stimulate the growth.

What nutrients would you recommend for healthy beard growth.

food rich in omega 3's like fish and nuts, and green vegetables, bascially eat healthy. Unless you are lacking in these nutrients you wont really notice a difference. Hair is genetic, you can live a healthy lifestyle and still have fucked up hair but it cant hurt to try

good shit..
Yeah I understand about the genetics but I am going to keep it real and say I most of the time I do not eat healthy for a prolong amount of time. When I do I can see the difference in the growth of my beard. It gets long and has a healthy shine. Soon as I fall off and start eating bullshit foods coupled with binge drinking and chain smoking, it never fails my shit starts getting brittle and starts falling out.

My shit current...I groom it daily and use that bigen 58 cause I have a lot of grey. I comb it and then brush it with a 100% boar bristle brush and use some pomade on it to keep it soft.

One of your few good post Flawless. Folks, the oils (castor, argan, etc) mentioned by posters previously will also assist with your goals but what Flawless said is spot on. Also for you patchy cats, stimulating with a toothbrush is known to be helpful somewhat as well.

That was a good post, Gonna grab some fresh fish and a big tub of peanuts. A nigga is not getting any younger so I have to start taking care of my health. Every notice how wealthy/rich people look healthy as shit? Skin glowing and shit

Yeah, well when that time comes (cause I've only found 1 strand) I'll definitely rock it without the dye..keep the shit nice and trimmed.

I can't really say because I don't have a beard even though I want one, but I presume beard hair is just like any other hair-growth is promoted from within I think Flawless laid out what you need on that in. I'll just say to keep it trimmed. Everyone I know that got a beard saw their hair grow thicker the more they said they trimmed it.

^^^^ Same here. :smh:

My shit just wont grow and my goatee will not connect got me feeling like I'm a little ass boy.

My shit be long and stringy on my chin. I thought about braiding it like Dub-C do.

I wanted to get my Rick Ross on witta full beard and look like Moses, Jesus Christ and Kimbo Slice but nawl....:(

Everybody else got these nice healthy looking strong beards and shit, look at Osca Lee's.

Maaaannn...

I'm doomed my face cue-balled as shit...:smh:

I think this just happens to all black men after they just try to grow their hair out without doing anything cuz that's exactly what happen(s)ed to mine. I've noticed keeping it moisturized and picked out/brushed and TRIMMED is how it grows strong.

I shampoo it haard every few days but after each shower I'll condition it with this Amish beard balm, which works pretty well and keeps it vitamin'd up but then I'll alternate that with some coconut oil and so far, this treatment has given me some good results.

In an around-about way. Your beard stops growing once the ends split, so you have to trim the split ends about once a month. Shae butter will keep your beard from drying out. Dryness causes the hairs to split (stop growing) sooner and itch more.

I cant recall the last time my beard itched since I started using Shae butter.

See I think that was my problem, the split ends! Ive noticed when I get a decent grow going on soon as I start getting split ends it all stops and after that it basically all falls out back to a shorty shadow beard.

This is my issue. I have a couple dry patches. Like you said there are some hairs growing in there little by little, but it's still on that Joakim Noah. I want my shit to connect.

Brush the patch areas with the toothbrush, or the whole beard?

I have goat tee that connect very well but it hasn't to my sideburns and trying to get beard to grow is taking forever.

I agree cut the split ends with a trimmer.

Personally I think all that extra shit is a waste of money...take care of it daily with normal hair products that keep it soft....

Again groom it daily and bursh it at least 4 times a day to train the hair to lay down
