Chad Johnson angers judge, gets jail time

damn...

he still WRONG but after actually seeing the clip and hearing the audio and the taking the temperature of the room?

I think the judge went over board

SHE HAD A POINT...

but she went over board a stepped a little out of bounds.

She is the one who made the lawyer being so good statement.

She COULD have chastised him and stressed the seriousness of the situation and his "lick" but actually SEEING it, but again when a Black man in that situation he HAS TO know better.

when you get pulled over for speeding, and you know you are caught, and you KNOW all you did was speed - as a black man - the best thing you can do is to: Cooperate, move slow, and get the ordeal over as fast as possible. Why? CUZ YOU KNOW (some to most) cops have power trip issues. You know to make no jokes, ask maybe one question about the offense and KEEP IT MOVING.

I don't give a damn about a "power tripping" judge. Whether anybody likes it or not those -itches spent most of their life in school or learning and already feel superior to you - from the jump. So to sit here and write: "She on some power trip" is a redundantly asinine statement. Its fact.

With that being said. Chad is in jail cuz HE head butted his wife. The court did not randomly pick him out of the blue. Its THEIR rules. You, just like with a ticket, are supposed to go in with your eyes open, aware, and triple dot EVERY "i" and cross every "t". You do not give the judge ANY F-N reason to scrutinize your appearance in the court.

Two or three months ago a girl was laughing in court and was disinterested and she got jail time. Mostly everyone on BGOL agreed that if she had been "MORE SERIOUS" and been more aware she could have jetted with a lesser sentence. Why is it different for Chad? I don't want anybody locked up. That is caged animal living. But to not be aware of your surroundings - giving dap or not - its WAS NOT THE PLACE OR THE TIME FOR THAT SH*T - PERIOD. Argue with the rational behind it if you like, but 9 times out of 10, your logic does not fall in line with the courts interpretation of the "law" or what is appropriate.

100% agreed on each point!

Co-shizzle, I ALWAYS tell my peeps that IF you get pulled over do EXACTLY as you've pointed out, when the cop is writing the ticket HE has the power, YOUR time is in front of the judge who then has the power, sitting in traffic court on 2 different occasions (both of which I won) I had to keep from laughing a few times @ how the judges shut several cops down who just knew they were right, but we, as Black men already know what the deal is when we walk into a courtroom, Chad (and peeps on this board) need to KNOW that you have to exhibit self-control, simply stated you need to show basically the same respect in court as you would in church.

Chad wasn't laughing.... but dont get me wrong i agree with everything else you said but that shit still isn't right...Black people need to collectively rebuke the US honestly..

Lot of back and forth. Ask yourself this question. With everything being the same if at that moment Chad would of patted his lawyer on his back or shoulder instead of patting his ass would he be doing 30 days??

Ocho Cinco is a dumbass but this time, this one time, he really truly did nothing wrong.

great point

Lol, bruh, YOU just made my point!

They did all that & their respective judges assigned the appropriate jail time for each offense... and THEN handed them over to the Corrections department who then released them shortly afterwards due to over-crowding, THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE COURT!

See, if the court assigned them 10 days or something like that you'd have a point, but LL was assigned some 90 days @ one time, & 120 days another, but the court system DOES NOT run the jail system!

Understand?

You're talking in circles. Matter of fact, I'm not sure what the fuck you're talking about or what your point is in relation to my original post. You're confusing yourself. We can agree to disagree and keep it pushing. Peace.

To clarify, YOU said that Chad got 30 days for BS while White chicks like Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton & Amanda Bynes keep thumbing their noses @ the court but have done little jail time, MY point was that their respective judges gave them MORE jail time than Chad, but when they actually went to jail they were released hella early, this was NOT because the judge released them, but because the jail system in LA County (where Lindsay, Paris and even Nicole Richie did their short stints) is over-crowded, the Sheriff in charge made the decision to release them early because they had non-violent offenses, HE DOES NOT ANSWER TO THE COURT and the court HAS NO CONTROL OVER THE JAIL SYSTEM!

Clear?

Do you understand what the concept of "agree to disagree" means? I'm going to go out on a limb and say you've been the recipient of a restraining order before, correct? My man. You're missing my point. I don't care anymore. I'm over this conversation. Talking to you is like talking to a wall. No harm, no foul. Do you, and I'll do me. Peace.

The answer is "NO" to any restraining order, and I have 0 problems agreeing to disagree, but if you didn't care you shouldn't have even bothered to answer that post, as I really wasn't looking for a reply, my "Clear?" was purely a rhetorical question.

Peace.

Just saw the video. Fuck that cunt-faced bitch cunt judge. She really feeling herself. She flipped on dude for nothing. Complete abuse of power. The universe is going to deal with her ass.

Okay, after watching the video, she was being a bitch. Whether you like dude or not, you have to admit, she was being a straight cunt.

I must agree with both these posts. Ole barracuda mouth bitch.:angry:

30 days was definitely excessive.

but, can't that fool chad behave maturely for at least one fucking second? :smh:

What can you do if something like this happens? Is there some type pf appeal process? I'm pretty sure it will be reduced today after the judge realize she over reacted.:smh:

oh shit! stephen a smith really was pissed off...he even told skip to go ahead because
he was scared he might say something

i bet in the break room after the show he was tellin some of the espn black staff

Thats what Im thinking and hoping! This is fucked up all the way around. Chad seems like a decent dude, he just makes bad decisions (like wifing that bitch and changing his name to ochocinco).

Hopefully this will get shortened. Bitch judge was punishing him like hes a child.

After seeing the video I don't think Chad meant it as a playful gesture.
I think it was more of a jock thing or something that an Athelete would do. Being that it is Chad everyone started laughing and the Judge got pissed. :dunno:

I tried to give another view. :joint:

In my younger days I would have probably cussed the judge out and told her you can add more days, I don't give a fuck....

Not sure if you can appeal her decision to not accept his plea? However, his attorney might be able to take it before the State Commission on Judicial Conduct consists of five lawyers, four judges and two lay people who can investigate complaints and censure or remove a judge (this exist in New York State, but I am not sure how the procedure works in Florida).

If you're interested check this out:http://www.scjc.state.ny.us/
and this case is a good example of a judge that had a tendency to abuse her power:

I think that OJ Simpson shit still sizzles in the mind of most white people.
I think the judge was prejudice before the trail in terms of domestic violence against women.
I believe reflections of the OJ case is still lingering in her mind as well as others.
Some of these white judges as well as police officers are looking for the most minute reason to lock your ass up.
One thing I've noticed about whites when it comes to time served for a crime or violation short of murder..They won't let it go!
Take the Michael Vick case for example, after the man served his time for animal abuse a lot of white people wanted a continuation of punitive action against the brotha.
With public apologies, media ad campaigns in conjunction with PETA, Boycotts and protest against his endorsement sponsors, the Atlanta Falcon organization and the league and so on.
It's like it is their only chance or opportunity to stick to a black man that's making a substantial amount of money more than what they have.

I expect there might be a reduction as well.

In Texas, if the Judge rejects the plea bargain, then one can withdraw their plea and start over.

But it doesn't really seem like she rejected the plea bargain, but more like she gave him jail time as a condition of probation....yeah, yeah, yeah...I heard what she said, but the question is what occurred technically.

For instance, in Texas there could be a plea bargain of two years probation. Settled law is that a Judge has the right to set conditions of that probation. If a Judge sets jail time as a condition of that probation, then it is not considered a rejection of the plea bargain......further, in Texas, jail time as a condition of probation has to be served day for day.

Judge overreacted to Johnson's slap
Lester Munson [ARCHIVE]

ESPN.com | June 10, 2013
Memo to Judge Kathleen McHugh in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.:

Lighten up. It was a slap on the fanny. That's all it was. It came from a guy, Chad Johnson, who did not argue against a charge that he head-butted his wife in an argument. You, as the judge presiding in the original court case last year, had approved a sentence for the head-butt of probation and community service.

Then when Johnson failed to show up to a meeting with a probation officer, he landed back in front of you on Monday. You agreed to add three months' probation, community service and counseling to his original sentence but declined to send him to jail for his probation violation.

Then you took a serious proceeding and interjected a bit of casualness yourself -- asking him whether he was happy with his lawyer's work on his behalf. Yes, he was happy. He described the lawyer as "awesome." The description may not have been original, but the slap on the fanny confirmed his high opinion of his lawyer.

We all know, of course, that the Circuit Court of Broward County is a place where important matters are pondered and resolved, and we know that you must protect the dignity and the majesty of the court against unwanted intrusions of locker room levity and sophomoric behavior. There are victims in these cases, and it would be wholly out of line for a defendant to turn a judicial proceeding into a casual affair that might indicate justice is not being served and that he or she does not show proper contrition for his or her crime.

But, judge, you went too far. All you had to do was suggest to him that he was not nearly as cute as he thought he was. You could have given him a warning. Instead you decided that a guy who was on probation for a head-butt would serve 30 days in jail for a slap on the backside.

What was it, judge? The laughter in the courtroom? They were not laughing at you. They were laughing with Johnson as he expressed his relief that a humiliating and expensive episode was drawing to a close.

C'mon, judge. Johnson will be in jail Monday night. That's enough. If you let him out on Tuesday, you will have made your point. If you keep him in the Broward County Jail for 30 days, you will always be the judge who could not distinguish between a vicious head-butt and a triumphant slap on the fanny.

Saw this shit and now I m pissed.....

this is the classic..."I m gonna show this n-word who's boss."

And I m gonna say this.....had that judge been male......that would have never happened.....

I still blame Chad, but I believe you are correct, WE already know that they're holding the gun, no need to give them ammunition, meanwhile there IS indeed evidence that shows that female judges tend to be harsher towards repeat Black male offenders, (http://www.olma.vt.edu/courses/5115d/readings/week3-4of4.html) I'm guessing that it stems from that same fear that has them pulling their purses in close and walking across the street when they spot a Black man!:smh:

That shit happens to me from time to time when I'm in the city and I tell ya, that shit is offensive as FUCK!

Stupid ish is if I was a robber, do these White bitches really think walking across the street is gonna stop me?!?

I agree...Chad gave her the power....however.....what Chad did was really benign....really benign...almost to the point of her throwing him in jail for chewing gum.....

and you re right....the white female scared thing is big.....

but that translates to teachers in the classroom also....

Sad but true, like you said, I don't believe that a male judge would've thrown him in jail, I believe he would've understood where Chad was coming from, but I put it on Chad because dude needed to remember where he was and just who he was standing in front of, hopefully she'll rethink it and reduce it after a few days, him being in jail any longer does no one any good.

Never should have been in this dumb ass situation in the first place. There is no way that this is not his fault 100%,
