Infamous Housing Projects

Almost got shot how???

Brothers were there doing a free show for the kids and this jackass see's somebody he got into it with and ran and got an AK and started spraying. I broke out, and when the shit died down and I came back, the car I was standing next to had bullet holes in it.

Been to Caliope, the NIckersons, and Cabrini Green on various hood tours. Always was during daytime though and only got out the whip in the Nickersons. Went to the Jungles the same day and it was much more live out there. Good times..

Lafayette Courts ends in 20 seconds of explosions, cheers, tears
August 20, 1995

After standing for decades as a bleak symbol of urban decay, Baltimore's Lafayette Courts housing project came to a dramatic end yesterday, collapsing into rubble and dust in a matter of seconds.

Shortly after noon, a series of slow, staccato explosions briefly shook the ground and flattened the desolate 11-story towers that had loomed over the eastern edge of downtown Baltimore. The spectacular display lasted just 20 seconds but fascinated tens of thousands.

Now all of those project ni99as are in the County fucking shit up.

The only PJ I know of that's still super-active in Baltimore is Latrobe.

peace

Grew up going to see family in there since the 70s, playing & swinging on them lil chained fence barriers.
Passed through Edenwald day last year
'Horseshoe' stand up.

No Redhook, Getty Sq or any of them shits in Y.O.? Trenton (the Bricks), Nwk (BrickCity), Central & South Jersey to Camden & the surrounding forgotten areas that look & feel like a bomb was dropped there?
Certain parts of MtVernon down the block from the Bx even though theyre residential have some ole other shit going on.

Connecticut had a bunch of town house pjs that were & are still a mess through Waterbury, Danbury, Bport, The Elm/New Haven (Ashman St was their only high rise that got torn down about 20 yrs ago) not even to mention the Heartbeat/Hartford ones. the crack/wet is heavy in the air (or literally in chicks' hair as whole families be fucked up in the game) & have seen kats get popped & chicks get buck__, leaking @ functions

These pjs aint got shit on India, certain Chinatowns (from China to NY) and other truly down trodden areas like them favelas fam mentioned where there are their own rules.

Peace, bborn I almost forgot about those grimy projects in Yonkers. One is called Snowbaum. That place is ratchet as fuck. One my niggas had a baby momma up in there and I would drive him up there from time to time. There is also another one near school street. The last time I went up in there was about 1996 or 1997. Folks were down in front of the building blasting DMX as he was the choice celebrity of Yonkers niggas at that time.

you can be from the worst housing projects in any inner city in the US and that shit is nothing compared to some of the living conditions you see in the hood parts of the south

You ain't never lied. Don't let the small units, grass and bushes fool you. If it has ''courts'' ''gardens'' or ''park'' in the name, stay clear.

That's what ninjas get for abandoning the City for the burbs. Now you got the hood living next door as the white folks move back to those neighborhoods you abandoned in the 90"s. And, you're stuck there because all of your cash is going towards paying that mortgage and lawn mower bills...

These are the projects behind thw whitman and ingersoll houses that the name was slipping me before. The FARRAGUT houses  :smh: Even surrounded by Epic gentrification on all sides they are still EXACTLY the same.

Yes, that's the name, used to never make sense cause Farragut Ave had their own "projects" on the other side of Brooklyn in East Flatbush.

My wife is from that hood. She's not from Slowbaum though, there's one little project facility up the hill that sits right on the river. Thats where she's from and them niggas is just as grimy as this team I know from Fulton and Troy.

Benning Terrace is a public housing project of 274 apartments and townhouses in southeast Washington, D.C. located east of the Anacostia River in the Benning Ridge neighborhood.[1] It was formerly known as "Simple City."

Brick Towers was a 324-unit affordable housing development in Newark, New Jersey, originally occupied in 1970. The buildings were demolished in 2006, despite opposition by the City’s Mayor Cory Booker who was living in the property at the time.[1][2] Although the buildings were reported structurally sound, there were persistent problems with poor management and associated criminal activity.

The Robert Taylor Homes was a Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) public housing project located in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago, on State Street between Pershing Road (39th Street) and 54th Street alongside the Dan Ryan Expressway.

WTF??? that shyt don't look like nothing nice.

Those outside walkways and stair ways used to be open but mofokrs kept getting thrown off so they fenced them in.

Taylor homes... Grimey.

Vanderveer...when I left they look like they was cleaning it up a bit tho...don't know if they succeeded...and it's Farragut Rd...not tryna be an ass but that is almost like Heist calling Eastern Pkwy "Eastern Ave"

Maybe I'm reaching but when I wiki-ed all the famous people you listed that grew up here, the project they grew up in was prominently listed for ALL the Black folks but did not for lesbian Lily Tomlin!

Brewster-Douglass Housing Projects were the largest residential housing project owned by the city of Detroit, located in the Brush Park section on the east side of Detroit, Michigan, near the Chrysler Freeway, Mack Avenue and St. Antoine Street. The housing project is named after Frederick Douglass, African American abolitionist, author, and reformer. What remains are the townhomes built in 1994.[2]
The complex was home to such notable figures as Diana Ross, Mary Wilson, Florence Ballard, Lily Tomlin, Loni Love, and Etterlene DeBarge, during their early years.

I use to hear crazy shit about the projects in Newark in the 80's but a lot of them got tore down. Newark got the name Brick City cause they had so many projects. Seth Boyden in Newark :smh: Lil Bity in East Orange :smh: 108 Projects in Orange :smh: Crescent Lane in Irvington :smh:

Funny part is as long as you don't look like a mark, aren't acting extra and know the right people you can go to almost any project. Especially once you're not a teenager anymore.

Nah.....but I used to live in the Calumet Building (Randolph Towers; off 62nd calumet). Its in my avatar. I used to be in the greens a lot. The Wells ....off King Drive.... used to my stomping round as well. And that was back when Chicago deserved the title Chiraq..in the early - mid 90's. Now ah days...White folks can be seen in these areas. Especially the areas closer to the lake. The area around the old calumet building is stil poor but theyre starting to fix it up.

This is my old building being demolished.

Funny thing is the fact that the Housing Projects werent meant for Black folks...but we ended up being the #1 occupants when it was all said a done. Nationwide...the shit ended up being a lab experiment that created some outstanding Black folks..but also ruined a lot of Black people as well.

I don't know if it's still around... but there's a PJs in Waterbury I think they're called named Long Hill... These dreads used to run it out there... Them niggas had some FIRE weed up there...
THIS is the key to them science 'projects'/experiments all through CT.
Was convinced that a city where YALE (along with a slew of other colleges & universities, public, private & state funded) lives dabbles & creates new strains of whatever through their petri dish they call New Haven:smh::angry:.

When I was up there, there were nick names/sets for all the diff hoods & parts of hoods
{TheJungle, TreDeuce, the Deuce, TerraDome,the Hill,the Ville, etc},
the mayor was seen coming up out of some dealer's whip, generations of gangs
(the lk homie had that fiyah schama out there) & traditionally southern folk caught up on some up north shit.

Few yrs back, went through some pjs in the back of a college where I used to spend some time coming through, checking this chick & the whole shit was gone but was surprised they let it 'thrive' for as long as they did with generations of crackheads, girls raising themselves & their families.

Seen, experienced & heard of all types of wild stories from these little heard of pjs throughout Ct in cuts, shotty blocks & low spots that no one is even thinking of or even heard of unless from there. Used to walk through a few of them spots.

Reminded me of a smaller version of Rochester (another notable mention with traditional southern folk on some North mixed with South shit going on) & that Upstate shit.

oh and u wanna talk about fucked up living conditions jus drive thru camden new jersey
Not palpable nor believable until they see it with their own eyes day &/or night:smh:
Same with parts of Trenton

Da Bruh used to work @ a community center out there & have lil cuzzos who used to stay around the corner from there, one doing big time now fucking around with that area since the change of the millennium.

 yeah Fams, was up around that area, checking this chick who lived on the water in them duplex condos around the same time & into a yr after, taking wrong turns off the SawMill, riding through all them hills & seeing some of that wild looking shit, looking forgotten like parts of S Jersey. The Lox & double R were about to make their run during that time.
Not too long afterwards, Flexx had a drop on the radio screaming abt "Don'tComeThruGettySq!:smh:" as allegedly StylesP let a kat have it for trying to violate a certain area.

Used to hear stories from my man who grew up out there in the 80s about them crimey youngins with the .22s to the necks running up on kats out of no where on the jux.

No Mention of good ole WAGNER, Jefferson & all that Eastsside El Barrio shit from them days til now that still do what they do even after gentrification?

Worst project I been too was in Newark back in the mid 90's. Forget the name.

NYC wins. Too many people everywhere, shit make me nervous. Always somebody behind you & shit  Them shits off Guy R Brewer. Smoking in that place had me paranoid as hell. Way too many loose muthafuckaz just roaming around.

My HUD/Golden Feather keys had me looking at property all over LA. In & around them all. Imperial Courts, Nickerson, Jordan Downs, Toonerville, The Jungles, Pueblo Del Rio, etc

Growing had people all over the town, spent plenty time in The Acorns , 6-5 & 6-9 Village, 8-5 Village, even little ass Alvingroom Court etc. NYC wins !

Stayed the summer with family Cabrini–Green wild time. Brewsters spent more time there with family and friends than in my own hood.
