I remember in 93 I found a tape in the house...put it in the deck and man that shit sounded so slow...I kept taking the tape out thinking it was chewed up or something...Too Short mixed in with Big Mike...I put it back in and a nigga shouted out my homeboy so I was like fuck it and let it play
I promise the only regular shit I ever bought after that was pac or Biggie or Scarface...If it wasn't for Screw I never would've listened to alot of shit...Thursday night at 7 at his house mannnnn the line would be so long...cars down the block everybody getting tapes...that nigga changed lives thru music real talk
I was living in the country for a couple years and I went by his house and told him man them country niggaz be wanting to hear yo shit but I cant keep selling em my tapes...that nigga grabbed a paper bag and put 100 tapes in it and said u good...didn't charge me shit...I was 16 man felt like I was on top of the world
That was one of the realest niggaz I ever met in my life and loved that dude...I could tell so many stories about them days

Share some more stories, man. I listen to pretty much nothing but DJ Screw's personal tapes in the car and when I work out...the shit really keeps me focused...nobody could fuck with his mixing skills at all to this day, and fuck people who think you have to be high to enjoy Screw....Screw music is beautiful to me
I caught on to screw late. Them country boys in the military turned me on to that and Swishahouse around. Actually listening to screw tapes was enlightening. He was a FANTASTIC Dj. The selections and on the fly remixing was great. Screwed up shit didn't blow up here until around 2004-2005, but there was a time that's all I rode to.
Respect to Screw. Lot's of cat's out here trying to do it but that sound is distinctive.

Shit bro there was a point in time when young niggaz on the southside that's ALL we listened to...that shit made the bass hit so goddamn hard in the trunk...Pat Lemon had a box lincoln on 4's with 18's in the trunk...that shit was so hard niggaz didn't like sitting in the back seat...side moldings getting knocked off the car
Screw was so playa...all tapes was dubbed at night...that nigga pretty much was always working man and didn't really sleep alot because he got so popular so quick people always wanted him for something...niggaz going to his house late at night wanting tapes and he wouldn't sell em...man niggaz used to lie saying they knew the nigga

i barely even remember how that stupid north side/south side beef started....
i don't know if one of them dudes hopped fly on a screw tape or if we was just hating on the south side's shine....but i do know we had them south side niggas HEATED (as evident by kingleo's threat to have put that iron in my life for rocking the braids) because we was so grimy and had that "i don't give a fuck" attitude about us.
