Marvel Studios and Disney's Iron Man 3 has blasted into the stratosphere overseas, opening to $195.3 million from 42 markets to beat last year's global blockbuster The Avengers, which debuted to $185.1 million internationally.

Box office observers agree that Iron Man 3 is playing more like a sequel to last summer's The Avengers -- which featured a myriad of Marvel superheroes, including Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man -- than a follow-up to Iron Man 2, which posted a foreign opening of roughly $100 million in 2010.

Iron Man 3, which has been well received by critics so far, is playing in roughly 80 percent of the foreign marketplace, excluding major markets Russia and China, where DMG Entertainment put up some of the financing.

It saw its biggest gross in the U.K. ($21.5 million), followed by Korea ($19.2 million), Australia ($18.4 million), Mexico ($16.1 million), France ($14.7 million), Brazil ($12.3 million), Italy ($11.2 million), Taiwan ($8.4 million), Philippines ($7.4 million), Japan ($5.4 million), India ($5.2 million), Spain ($5 million), Hong Kong ($4.9 million), Malaysia ($4.6 million) and Indonesia ($4.5 million), among other markets.
The tentpole broke numerous records for 113 IMAX theaters, which took in $7.2 million for a per screen average of $64,000, coming in ahead of any Marvel title, including Avengers.

I've heard mixed reviews. Some saying it was the best, others saying it was the worst. So I'll just go find out my damn self.

out of all the comic book or whateva based movies...only liked the early X Men movies, Hellboy 2 and a few of the earlier Batmans; the one with Danny divto and Jjim carey.


transformer..avengers,..ironman..spiderman ...etc etc all weak.... imho

just seen the trailer for 3. was thinking about going to see it. but it looks like a love story. I'll wait for the r-5 to be posted on BGOL

well he's not a teenager hes in his 30s which is a great age for a nice franchise run of three or four movies. I just hope that whoever they get they DON'T go back to the beginning again..

Iron Man, Superman, Batman all of these hero flicks should be treated in the way britain treats james bond or doctor who..change the actor and/or director and KEEP IT GOING FORWARD. Continue with the next story.

Actually I can think of one dude who could get the role. In fact, I remember that this guy REALLY wanted to play Stark.

It can't just be somebody that 'looks' like Stark. They need somebody who can capture the humor and timing and hold his own on screen.

Also, somebody who doesn't cost a ton.

Jason Bateman on the low.

Johnny Depp if they shell out the cash.

Nobody can replace Downey, but these two could bring it.

i'm with you. The first one was on point (except the end where he revealed his identity). the second one was horrid.i have noooooooooo expectations for this 3rd one.

bateman is annoying to me...his humor is snarky and sarcastic plus he's no leading man...

Depp is cool but he's wierd..theres something about him thats off..he's like a bohemian type. I could still see him in the suit but his take on stark would be to the extreme left of downey's portrayal. But it would be interesting to watch at least for one movie.

Second one sucked
Long action movie with no action
The dialouge and pace sucked
Loud rock playing the whole time
It seems as if something cool is about to happen and the scene cuts to another long boring scene

I'm finding out that a lot of folks haven't realized that films are being released overseas FIRST now.

I've been telling people about this for over a year about Hollywood going for those international dollars first.

I told a few cats about this at my gig a few weeks ago. They didn't believe me until I told them that cams of "IRON MAN 3" were already online.

Then they found out for themselves by downloading them. LOL

Can't agree with you @ ALL bruh, I even thought the "The Amazing Spiderman" the last one, was good, even though I still felt that they rebooted it too soon, and that "X-Men:First Class" was tied for being one of the best X-Men movies!

Also, seeing as how "Iron Man 3" wasn't released in Russia, it might take a minute for a good R5 to show up, lol!

It was not b-rated or total crap but I did not like it personally.

The action was OK but not enuf the bad guy was missing to me...

The depth of Tony's character was cool tho' can't get around that
post traumatic stress disorder they kept it real on that part.

I was mad because the hype trailers where very deceptive and for a
big budget joint like that they could have done more with the action drama....

But my elementary school aged son loved it... so I see between kids
and die hard comic fans another notch in the belt for Marvel.:cool:

With the exception of Jared Leto and Jake G., all them other CACS mentioned are too damn old/older than Robert Downey to play Iron Man :smh:
