Denard Robinson: "I could get Usain Bolt in a 40."

you guys are just delusional :smh:

calling Bolt a slow starter :smh: compared to you?

just show a total lack of respect and ignorance to who qualify as world class sprinter :smh:

in four strides, your football player would be done

A lot of football players ran track in high school, and many of them in college or a lot of the track athletes play football.

Thats true and as dude above you pointed out Denard is probably the fastest dude at his college. It still comes across as talking shit about sprinting to me. The reasons given for why these dudes think they can beat Bolt imply that they are on the same level as the dudes who led Bolt for a time. I dont buy it. Gay and Gatlin are both faster than Carl Lewis. Think about what they are saying and think about what the dudes cosigning are saying. I guess I think there is a wider gap than most between being a fast college sprinter and being the fastest men in the history of the world.

this is getting ridiculous..reminds me when kats were coming out saying they could last a round with mike tyson at his peak

This is stupid. Bolt was beat by more than half of the other 100m sprinters in the 40.

After 70m, it was curtains. :itsawrap:

exactly

he isn't the fastest starter and these dudes coming out saying this shit see that

its cuz he has at least 5 inches on everyone he races

but once he gains steam nobody is beating him and he breaking records

you guys are just delusional :smh:

its not disrespect

dudes who dont have a prayer in beating him in a 100 meter dash start out ahead of him in races you see it, he just sucks everyone up and beats them

I think the real argument is if these football, basketball, baseball, players train full time like sprinters could they beat Bolt. Me and my boy had this talk today, I was saying the best athletes in America play the three major sports( football, basket, baseball) you may not be seeing the fastest runners because there playing the other three major sports, in other words if Gatlin, Gay, etc could play the other three major sports I think they would, so in Jamaica there main sport is track so there going to get the best athletes in there country, not dissing bolt, he's a true beast but you gotta wonder if our very best choose track full time....................mmmmmm

All this proves is some football players and BGOL members have no respect for the other dudes Usain races against. So what if Bolt is not in the lead in the first part of the race, can these dudes beat Gatlin, Gay, Powell, Blake? As for the start issue, Bolt has "bad starts" relative to the rest of a world class field of sprinters. This is not just talking shit about Bolt, its talking shit about sprinting itself. Before this dude talks about Bolt, he should go race the top sprinter at his college in the 40.

World Class Sprinter has a slow start in comparison to WORLD CLASS SPRINTERS.:hmm:

Justin Gatlin ran a 4.4 when he was working out for NFL scouts at Tennessee's pro day

But the dude runs 9.7 100 meters, 100 meter is a better judge of top end speed

There were reports he ran a 4.1 for the Houston Texans but some say that is false

What we do know is Chris Johnson ran a 4.2 40, Denard Robinson is probably a 4.3 guy

Thats why in the NFL they look at your 10 and 20 yard splits as well

How fast can you get up to speed? Explosion

I'm not saying he would beat Bolt in a 40 but what I am saying is in 40 yards it wouldnt be a blowout at all

Ig'nant.

Track and field is not the only sport we play. We're just good at it. We're also good at cricket and love football (soccer).

Blake thinks he would have been a great cricketer if he didn't focus on track, and Bolt is petitioning for a shot a Manchester United.

Ask any Jamaican what their favorite sport is, they'll tell you cricket or football. Maybe basketball.

And don't you think many kids of various heights and physiques try out for sprinting? There's a reason people in a certain height range are generally quicker than their taller counterparts. It's also a part of the reason Bolt is unique, being a fast 6'5" sprinter.

Don't expect trainers and coaches to go scouting for tall people to train thinking they can simply engineer the next Bolt, it doesn't work that way.

4.4 you sure D-Town...no wonder that was a short workout..i thought he'd run at least a 4.3

yeah fam I remember hearing about it years ago when it happened and this thread here made me remember so I googled it 4.42

means nothing tho cuz he will dust every player in the NFL in the 100 and it wouldn't be close

At the end of the day, the comment made by Robinson was kinda silly. The 40 meter and 100/200 meter races are completely different disciplines.

An MMA fighter can't beat Mike Tyson in a boxing match in his prime. Different set of rules, guidelines and different physical as well as psychological training is needed to go rounds with a boxing pro.

I agree with you 100%

and the MMA vs Boxing comment pretty much hits it dead on

Ok sun, I did not say track was the only sport in your country, I was simply saying that just like in America were the most talented go to wards the sports that make more paper, in your country you can make a better living running track more so than the other sport you play so there for maybe that will attract the best athletes in Jamaica and that's why y'all dominant shit rite now, were in America the best play sports that bring in more paper than track, you can be fast as shit and make couple hundred thou cool, but if you fast as shit and can catch football with a db on your back or hit a 98 mh fast ball for millions a year you gonna leave that track shit alone.

if there ever was a time the average dude had a chance to challenge bolt in his prime either in the 40 50 60 100 etc...9 times out of 10 they would pull up with a hamstring injury all of sudden just to save face from the embarrasment...
:lol::lol::lol:

he shouldve ran track then

...he did in HS, and I believe at least 2 seasons of indoor track@ UM...anything else interferes with football....

having the ability to run fast on a football field doesn't make you a world class sprinter

your football player doesn't even possess the technique to get out of the blocks and you wanna talk about him getting ahead of Bolt at start

this is getting ridiculous..reminds me when kats were coming out saying they could last a round with mike tyson at his peak

Young kats nowadays don't have respect for shit...you got some 17 year old at your local YMCA that just saw the Olympics and said to his boys, man, I can beat Kobe, Durant, and Lebron in a game of 21....:lol:

Its possible. If you look at the 100m final Usain was in about 4th or 5th at thte 40 yard mark but opened up at around 50 and blew them away at 100m

My barber back home has this old tape of him racing Rocket Ismail back in the late 80's.

Dude was supposed to play at Nebraska but got seriously injured. His forty was in the 4.4 range.

Well, dude started out beating Ismail, but dude started picking up momentum, and it was a complete blow-out, lol.

Rocket was a track star as well.

It's possible.

It was a 60 yard race. After about thirty yards, Rocket turned into .... well, Rocket.

Man. I'm never shocked by some of the shit people say here. There was a cat saying he could probably beat Kobe one on one if he shot was dropping...one muthafucka talking about he could probably beat Roy Jones (he was dead serious too).

The only place I could take them to is to lunch after they murdered my ass in their respected fields that they get PAID to do.

This thread and its premise is embarrassing.
