Big Krit And Currensy Both Projected To Sell 40k And Nicki Minaj Is Finally Gold

Copped that K.R.I.T. - The actual audio CD, lol... Dude is Great... Gotta support real, quality music! I'm gon go ahead & cop Curren$y, too. They both deserve good sales...

i jus seen both these dudes are on major labels, def jam and warner bros, whats all this indie talk??

Analysts are projecting that major label debuts from both Curren$y and Big K.R.I.T., who released their albums this past Tuesday (June 5), will move between 40,000 and 45,000 units. Curren$y’s The Stoned Immaculate and K.R.I.T.’s Live From the Underground have both received stellar reviews however the lack of radio promotion and singles have visibly resulted in the lack of sales for both Warner Bros. Music and Def Jam.

As much free music as Spitta and Krit bless their fans with I wish they would actually go out and support when they put out the official. I bought both, and both of them have big enough fan bases to sell more. Oh well, both of them will still get their dough on the road, Spitta's shows have been packed for his latest tour and Krit is bout to hit the road for his.

This cats gotta not bootleg it's kind of like that weekend at Bernie's that was a major release that shit was tough.....but all of them was tough I would say listen to pilot talk 1 and 2, covert coup, weekend at bernies, verde terrace, jet life to the next life, but for me it went deeper a lot of cat's don't big up trademark da skydiver but he goes hard his second album super villain vol 2 went hard, but I got all three, I have fiend aka international jones especially that one with cooking soul, young roddy and corner boy p but cats may not be open to them.

Kritt is constantly different like the one guy said he could do country shit, then money on the floor, then the vent and all these have different styles he just goes hard

Tell these artist to come talk to me.

WTF

That's a lot of effort for little return.

I'll create an app with built-in payment method to access the rest of the sound and also enter you to win some free concert tickets.
Fuck these labels.

Put your shit on youtube and get paid per click per song.

Enable video tagging and allow people to snip parts of your song to do their own shit and get paid from that.

Man, rap needs an upgrade to 2012.

Mobile apps is where it is at not fucking albums!

that weekend at Bernie's that was a major release that shit was tough....

I found that shit to be VERY mediocre.

Young Roddy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Fiends last two mixtapes were trash. He needs to get back on that ol' smooth shit that he was on on The Sweetest Hangover & Cool Is In Session.

well im in that 40K for the Krit

this was expected cuz him and spitta dont make pussy ass music and dont have commercial appeal

Big Krit And Currensy have a different fanbase from Nicki Minaj.

My theory on why Krit and Currensy sold around 40k is that they are confusing the public. People don't know if these shits are mixtapes or albums.

I been saying that the mixtape game is good for artist development but releasing too much free material is gonna backfire on these artists. Its happening to Gucci and its happened to Krit and Currensy. You gotta keep the public hungry. Krit just gave us 4 Eva N a Day a few months ago and it was also a better album than Live From the Underground.

For Krit and Currensy they are probably good. They living good for this show money constantly selling out shows but the way they are handling their music? They are dropping too much free music and the rap game in general is doing it. When cats are dropping albums its not "special" like it once was. I remember when it use to take 1 or 2 years to get albums. Cats dropping albums every week now.

How is Currensy gonna sell what KRIT sold, not putting in as much promo work?

I feel they both got about the same promo. Neither got radio play or promotion. Both on major's. WB took the same approach with Currensy as Def Jam did with Krit. Krit's album didn't cost shit for Def Jam to produce and being that both look and sound like their mixtapes I have a hard time believing that Currensy cost too much to produce either.

Curren$y has moved away from that somewhat tho. Yea he's dropped the little 5 track eps but those were pretty much spur of the moment projects released with little fanfare just so he could stay on the music blogs and feed his fans. His fans know that The Stoned Immaculate is the album, he's been hyping it since last year and he's promoted it as such.

As for Krit, his album was supposed to drop last year but they had to push it back because the couldn't clear alot of samples. That is why 4eva & A Day dropped in the meantime, alot of those joints were meant for the album but he put them out for free. Hurt the quality of his album if you ask me, too many dumbed down tracks, and the tracks that were "soulful" didn't pack the same punch as the ones on his mixtapes that had samples to them. I'm hoping next go around he incorporates some live musicians and goes the route that Ski/Curren$y did with the Pilot Talks re-interpret the samples so they don't have to worry about sampling. Look at what they did with joints once they realized they didn't want to pay out the ass to clear samples.

Well his fans are good. His fans are gonna either support the album or the tours. But he's suppose to be trying to getting new fans with these albums and from a guy who follows him but not really the blog side of things I thought this nigga been dropped a album. They talking about this shit is his debut album. Unbelievable. I got about 10 albums from dude on my computer and I thought all of them were mainstream albums. The average cat is simply confused. Same shit goes for Krit. Its hard to determine what's the mixtape or what's the album.

I thought this Krit album was a mixtape because the shit didn't have Country Shit or Boobie Miles on it.

Gotcha, and yea I don't like how Warner and him have been pushing this as his "debut studio album". Nigga, This Ain't No Mixtape, Jet Files, and The Pilot Talks were all recorded in studios. You may not have been flying out here and there to work with this producer and that producer, but them shits were still recorded in studios.

currensy put out 8 albums since 09. each album grew in sales in time. the pilot talk albums each pulled in 20-25k the 1st week out. he doubed that with this album which is a good look for spitta. he has a loyal fan base and tours regularly. put currensy put in alot of work to build his fan base. krit cd didn't get half the push that other def jams get. booby miles should of been on the album though. that shit bangs.

8 albums in 3 years? These new rappers are so silly.

I'm even mad at KRIT for doing all those "mixtapes" befor he dropped his "album"

I'm all for quality over quantity.

KRIT's last mixtape aint move me? But I was ready to buy his album just to support because I was so impressed with "return of 4eva"

Currensy seems like a dope rapper but his output is so random and not really well supported. He just hasn't made a strong statement to ME yet, but hey, if he's built a fan base off of it, go for it.

I truly think they could both do better by making more concentrated and focused efforts. Free music brings people on, but also cheapens your brand after a while.

I hope that doesn't happen to them any more, 2 young southern true spitters.

We need them. I got KRITS, and just off GP I'm gonna get Currensy.

You right. Bottom line is nobody except pop is selling major units. They don't even make money off dem shits. Touring and merchandise. Def Jam fucked up with KRIT delaying his album though and I can tell he was pissed from his previous mixtape/album.

Rappers know they aint eating off those sales. Like Kaya said if they would come up with a way to utilize technology to take more control over their album sales it might work.

Mac Miller is the most successful indy rapper hitting number 1 on billboard while Wiz is stuck in his 360 deal.

A white boy rapper is going to do better just because White people will support because they can relate to him easier (because he is white). The rappers are doing fine though concerts and marketing deals are still viable cash sources. At this point the only people suffering from low sales are labels which is why they like to only support artist who only need them for front minimal cash and distribution. K.R.I.T and Curren$y budgets were likely within the ranges of something they could pay back easily from touring.

These guys are following the Lil Wayne route to success that requires them to flood the market with music to gain fans. For Wayne he struck gold in Album sales as well as sold out concert. Its risky but considering that while they are dropping a lot of music in the cluttered rap blogosphere you have to feed the fans until your popular or they will be forgotten which will fuck up their touring money. Right now that Touring money is the only money they can rely since it can't be downloaded and distributed by torrents over the internet.

They HAVE to use social media, let them also check out collaborative consumption as a business model.

The world has changed and they are trying to do it the old school way.

Even artists on kickstarter.com are doing better numbers than this

:smh:
