Summary: T-Mobile and Verizon are the first two major US carriers to announce the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S III and it is great to see the form factor being maintained rather than changed like often happens when these devices come to the US.

A month ago Samsung announced the Galaxy S III and today we hear from T-Mobile and Sprint that they will be launching their versions on 21 June while Verizon will start taking pre-orders on June 6th. Sprint customers can pre-order the device on 5 June, tomorrow. Like the Galaxy S II, most US carriers will get this device and some will modify it from the original, international version. I am pleased to see that T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon are keeping the center physical button, unlike what AT&T did with the Galaxy Note.

T-Mobile did not reveal the price for the device, but Verizon and Sprint show that it will be $199.99 with a 2-year contract for the 16GB model. Verizon and Sprint will also have the 32GB model for $50 more. These models include the following specifications:

4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED display
1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor
2 GB of RAM
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
8 megapixel rear camera nd 1.9 megapixel front facing camera
16 or 32 GB internal memory
microSD slot for expanded memory capacity
2100 mAh battery
Metallic blue or ceramic white color options

The T-Mobile one supports their fast 42 Mbps HSPA+ network while the Verizon and Sprint ones support their LTE network. I have my Verizon line suspended right now as I wait for a new device, either the Galaxy S III or new iPhone, so I will wait and see what comes by the end of June before making an upgrade choice. Then again, I do have an available upgrade on T-Mobile so may go with that model.

The SIII UK Version is a quad-core. I was hoping we would've gotten the same. Guess I'll be sticking with my SII for a while!

I thought for sure the T-Mobile version would have the Exynos Quad core. I'm not sure if it supports the 42+ Mbps HSPA network though. That could be the reason.

No quad core but it's rocking 2gb of Ram and expandable storage. ONE X, looks better but fuck that non removable battery and stick with the amount of memory we give you shit. And that bull shit with the boot loader.

:smh:

This^^ I'll pass on this one.

Same damn phone.

not exactly

the software is way different this time

you have the picture in picture video
the s voice
image stabilization for video (thats huge for me)
the display stays on as long as it notices your eyes (huge for me too)
screen shots by pressing your palm on the phone
bigger battery and longer battery life
the camera/camcorder is suppose to better with burst mode
the audio is suppose to be better

i could go on but yall get it

im on the fence but this phone looks better than the evo

This phone looks way different than my SG2, fellas

I remember when I called about upgrading and asked when the s3 was coming out and they told me next year. Said it only came out overseas or some shit I'm like hmm. Lying ass bitches that's why I'm trying to leave fuckin T-mobile.

Exynos has never supported the HSPA+ that Tmobile uses. Everyone has the same problem, but for different reasons.

LOL, I guess people don't realize that apps aren't even coded to use quad core processors yet. Or that the S4 krait dual core in this phone (which is the same in the One X) easily rivals the quad core. This is almost as bad as people thinking more megapixels means better pics. Every category is improved from the GS2, what do people expect in a phone, 500 gigs with a 50 ghz processor? Then when the phone costs $1500 folks will complain about that.:smh:

They prolly weren't lying as much as they just didn't know what the hell they were talking about. Often times, rep don't know shit about shit untill everyone else does.

I am sitting this one out. I might cop it for the wife. She has the Amaze right now. I am rocking the Galaxy Nexus and I will never forget the frustration that I had with my TMobile GS2 not getting ICS. I will stick with Nexus phones for the remainder of my Android life.

I thought the Exynos supported the 21 mbps hspa+ network. Just not the dual band 42 mbps. Don't quote me though.

I'm cool with my Evo LTE for now

It's hilarious. It's the exact opposite of Apple owners.

I guess they need to push a gimmick to get people to get it. I think that's what HTC tried to do, because people saw through it, even though the 3D was still a considerable upgrade from the Evo 4G. They don't have as much trust and brand loyalty in Motorola, Samsung and HTC.

I'll see what this phone is like in october... I may just get the jellybean tablet in july then leave android as a phone ... Moto did me dirty, kinda annoyed with carriers fucking up android.

That's what I'm saying. it does not support 42, only 21. It would make no sense to bring out a quad because the knuckleheads that just care about specs will shit on it for not supporting 42 even though it's not going to make that much of a difference in the real world right now.

Seems to have some nice features, but I just don't like the physical look of the phone.

On a side note, that house doesn't look very "kid safe". Those stairs look dangerous to a kid playing in the livingroom.

The SII doesn't have ICS. No telling when that shit is gonna be rolling out. Then again, you know how OS updates go with Android, could be good, could be worse. I prefer to have new phone that has the newest OS natively.

T-mobile tweeted out June 11th for ICS roll out via Kies. OTA update to follow after the LDE OTA ends on June 22. The LDE update is required for ICS.
