The death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin has put Florida's "stand your ground" law under scrutiny after police cited it as one reason they did not arrest George Zimmerman, the 28-year-old Neighborhood Watch volunteer who said he shot Trayvon in self-defense.
But the man who signed "stand your ground" into law says officials have it wrong. Speaking Friday in Texas, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said "stand your ground" doesn't apply to this case."Stand your ground means stand your ground. Also just heard on the news that the DOJ has found out that Trayvon may have called 911 himself a minute before he was killed. Also, the police force down there rejected Zimmermans application multiple times. Why?
Call me an optimist but I think Obama/Holder/DOJ are gonna see that justice is served.

CAC's like this infuriate me. The unfortunate fact is that there's only one living witness who knows exactly what happened that day. Because of that CAC's will be able to spin the story any way their racist minds want. The funny thing is that none of them are asking questions like: Why did he get out of his truck? Why was he armed? Why didn't he just shadow Travon until the cops got there? But those questions will never get asked. Hell, we don't even know if Zimmerman was drunk, or high, or what evidence his truck may have contained, etc.
As the state attorney said, the "Stand Your Ground" law is a boon to the defense and a nightmare for the prosecutor.

I agree with most of what you said, but race definitely is playing a part in this entire thing you would have to be blind to not see it.
I definitely see that it matters. Doesn't change that it shouldn't matter. The guy gunned down a 17 year old kid. No one should care about his race. All they should care about is sending a message that this is completely unacceptable behavior.
Sheriff there has to be a racist to be doing nothing about it. Zimmerman probably is too for beefing with the kid without a reason.
But as far as America the country, all as a country we should be concerned with is the murder of a 17 year old kid and maximum prosecution and ferretting out officials that would allow this to happen without a very serious look into how they are prosecuting the law. Message needs to be sent countrywide how unacceptable this act is.

I posted a link to alocal story as well as summarized the local defense being promoted by supporters of George Zimmerman. You have no idea how many folks don't know Zimmermans claims of self defense.
I have been following this incident at the local level. My family travel the streets of Sanford FL. My children all wear hoodies. We all have to deal with the Sanford Police, Seminole County Sheriff, Orange County Sheriff and Orlando PD. I have 3 adult children and 2 minors.
Lastly Natalie Jackson is fine.
Supporters of Zimmerman need to demonstrate how Trayvon was a 6'3, thug and drug selling monster and menace to justify the killing and to add credibility to self defense claims.
Point I'm trying to make dude is that Trayvon has a MUCH stronger "stranger-danger" argument than Zimmerman does a "stand your ground" one. Given the facts of the case, and given the fact that Trayvon Martin is soon to go from victim to defendant in this case (based on the spin being applied), the application of this law gives a black child in Florida approached by an armed stranger no choice but to submit to whatever that strangers intentions are before even being allowed to determine those intentions. If your son or daughter is walking down the street in Fla. and a "stranger" demands that they submit to questions or any other commands, then that puts your child in a position where they would not be allowed to defend themselves in a similar situation where the stranger's intent goes beyond simple execution-style murder. What if Zimmerman wanted to take his "citizens arrest" powers a step further and toss Trayvon in the back of his car? At one point is he allowed to defend himself? When is the black kid in this scenario allowed to make a determination that HIS life or well being is in danger? This law does not allow for that.
Are you instructing YOUR children to simply submit to the requests of ANY adult that approaches them on the street? That is what this law implies they are required to do.
