there is nothing my daughter could ever do, with maybe the exception of putting her hands on my mother/her grandmother, that would cause me to allow myself to talk to her like that. period.

The 1st time my girl called me a "jerk", I stopped her immediately and told her that name calling is not something I tolerate.
Told her I have seen couples go down that road and it is not pleasant and doesn't value value to the relationship.
If she needs a timeout to collect herself then fine but I don't tolerate name calling.
Same with shouting when it happened the 1 st time.
We have arguments, heated ones too but they are done in a civilized manner.
