Is Shaq the most dominant player ever?

Now I'm not talking about BEST player I mean most dominant. I was watching old Bulls games and I was just looking at all the older big men we picked up Dele,Salley, etc just for the sake of having extra fouls for Shaq. Then I thought about the Laker years with how ridiculous he was in the Finals. In fact I shouldn't say dominant, I should say dominant force. I know Wilt averaged things like 50 and 25 but could Wilt or Russell guard Shaq in his prime?

Shaq was the last great "real" center.

Hakeem, D-Rob, Ewing were on their way out the league and the center position started to become a tougher pf. Now the best center in the league Howard is really a pf playing center. Noah 20 years ago could never get away with playing center but now there's so few skilled big men that against most of the teams Noah can get away with playing out of position.

So Shaq during the Lakers three-peat was probably more dominant than any other player in NBA history for a three year stretch.

IMO... The STRONGEST BASKETBALL PLAYER TO EVER PLAY THE GAME... STRONGER THAN WILT... MOSES MALONE... KARL MALONE... and the rest...

Most dominant I have ever seen

He gets the ball with two feet in the paint just get out the damn way before you get your arm broken

From what I hear about Wilt he probably gets the vote though

absolutely.

basketball purists would argue for wilt, but he was playing w/a bunch of 5'10 white guys...

the fact that Wilt was playing against a bunch of small, unathletic CACs only seems to strengthen his case as far as im concerned

he was more dominant because of his competition, or lack thereof

UHHHH LIKE YEAH...TO HAVE THE AUDACITY TO BE AN ASSHOLE ON THE COURT LIKE THAT. NONE OF THAT SOFT BIG MAN "TOUCH" BS. JUST SLAM...IT...DOWN...YOUR MUTHA'FUCKIN' THROAT BITCH!!!!!!

It's just not fair to compare Wilt and other who played back then with modern centers. Imagine if Dwight Howard played back then. People would probably be arguing for him being the GOAT. No doubt he could have had 50/30 a night. A prime Shaq?

Most dominant ever, but never led the league in rebounds?
Hakeem, a much smaller guy did it at least once.

Red Auerbach once said something along the lines of "The only people who say Shaq is the most dominant ever, Never saw Wilt play."

Go look at Wilt's numbers :eek::eek::smh::smh:... Now go and set 2k12 to easy, play a two player game with no actual second player and try and get those numbers. Good Luck.

He blocked Gus Johnson's dunk attempt so badly, he dislocated the man's shoulder :smh::smh:. Dunked the ball and it came down with such force it broke a man's toe :smh::smh:

He was a better athlete than Shaq, too.

He did all that he did in chuck taylors and while fucking 20,000 women along the way

You guys need to stop dreaming. Shaq should've been the most dominant player ever in fact he should've been the GOAT!

When your a liability during crunch time just because you can't be trusted to drop in a couple of free throws your not great and I'll be damned if your dominant. Great players are not offensive liabilities. Dominant players don't get pulled for the reasons Shaq got pulled.

Jordan, Jabbar, Kobe, Nowitzski(sp), Bird, these are players that are dominant. Because they're there every minute of crunch time contributing.

Don't get me wrong as a player I loved Shaq but IMO Shaq is the ultimate underachiever. This is why Kobe went off on his ass. Kobe knew how great Shaq and he should've been. But Shaq did nothing to improve his game or to keep his body healthy. IMO Shaq should still be playing today.

Always funny when the fans that have no idea what they are talking about try to chime in to a basketball conversation.

You might want to do more research to learn more about the height of players in Wilt's era and compare to O'Neal's era. Then compare which era's big men had the most talent.

Then again, we all know that O'Neal had to face hall of fame caliber big men like Matt Geiger, Todd MacCulloch and Jim McIlvaine

absolutely.

Depends on your definition of dominance which seems to be ability to score easily on O. That makes sense but the game is played on two ends. Although I think he was underrated on the defensive end of the court, I don't think he was the most dominant player ever.

I would rank Tim Duncan right up there with him as far as overall dominance for players in the post Jordan era but Smaq isn't the most dominant player ever.

Is Shaq the most dominant player ever?

No.

Chamberlain would probably be considered a more dominant one on one player while Russell is still the greatest winner in basketball history.

Yep. Shaq came along with an aged Ewing and Olajuwan (who still swept him when they faced in the Finals) with only Alonzo Mourning being a great (but undersized) center in Shaq's generation.
