After a successful year of trading in 2011, here's hoping for another successful year 2012.

I would encourage everyone to start a brokerage account and start earning money that is taxed at 15%

Let's go get it BGOL.

:yes::yes::yes:

messed around and brought Ford a week ago from advice of my relative. Its been up ever since. I got a small portfolio but seems to be well diverse so far.
I'm also looking for the bottom to drop out of Kodak and plan on short selling it. I'm not doing it right now, but monitoring it for a specific price.

So did you do that yourself kaya or go through someone like fidelity? Should I just take a couple hundred bucks and open an e trade account?

ford is a great buy. Metropcs is also another one.

I fux with wells fargo brokerage, they got a hundred free trades a year, and I just barely make 29.

so far its working niiiiiicee.....

and you really cannot go wrong with ford...

metro pcs sounds sweet I will follow it today...

RIM is looking sweet to, that shit dropped fuckin damn near 70 percent, it might be below fifteen dollars....

sounds like a sweet time to swoop in, they are changing platforms If I aint mistaken they are focusing on android based phones and working in a new direction...

I just see them putting too much energy into that music business and not enough into innovation.

still a stock to watch, if that shit goes under ten dollars I am swoopin in.

On another note I wanted to buy into gold but it seem like I missed it. Looks like it resisting to go past 2000 because EU might save face this year. I think there is alot of people are siting on the side and waiting because US stocks could be hot this year. P.S. be on the look out for South Korea they are doing some major things which means attractive growth.

Gold, Silver and Platinum were good for me last year. Made more than 100% on silver and around 25% on Platinum and Gold.

I'm definitely looking to get back into Gold and maybe Silver. Will probably start buying Gold this week.

Also watch oil in case the Iran situation escalates.

Got some Google and Apple. I think earnings will be strong for both.

Will check out metropc.

Honestly nothing has really changed i think 2012 will be quiet interesting with alot of uncertainty with this election. With that said I will take this year off in adding any new positions. Gold/Silver looks good in these type of environments.

Trends for the year is more cloud computing
mobile phones/internet space

I concur

kaya
do you trade options? if you do, i think you should start a game on investopedia and send me an invite, i think you can make the game private and send out passwords with invites.

although i understand options, i dont trade options and im using the simulator to get all the concepts down. not sure if you've used investopedia, but im open to other simulators if they exist. you can set the minimum amount to start etc (but the game has rules like you cant buy stocks less than $1)

anyway, i think it would be a good learning tool using the simulator, especially for options as ive never bought options.

but i want to use options to hedge my positions in real trading.

for example, and im only using this as an example:
ill use apple as an example.

apple opened at 422 and trading at $420 (approximate price)

say, i buy 100 shares of apple at market price = $42000
but now i want to protect myself in case apple gives back.
so i want to buy put option, yes it'll cost me i know. the most ill lose is my premium (still dont know how much that is)
on investopedia, i dont know how to purchase the put, let alone do it in real world trading

make sense or am i nuts on trying to hedge this way?
never bought puts (again)

I use tdameritrade but I have had this since 2005.

Make some comparisons and choose one.

A couple hundred dollars is a good starting point.

When i started back then I used $1000 to get going.

Come back to this thread as resource for information.

Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Dude I was about to grab some shares of them last week but had to bounce out. Good looking out

Did a lot of you guys do some type of training or schooling for this stuff or just jump right in? I usually try to follow Dave Ramsey way of thinking but I realize I'm more of a risk taker.

which company will reap the benefits of cloud computing and ssd drives?
thats where i want my in, trying to look into it although i may have missed the boot

I purchased gold many moons ago when it was 600 and let's just say I sold wayyyy too soon.

Anyways, Charles Schwab has been ok throughout the years.

I have heard chatter of QE 3 today.

Physical Metal is the best bet.

There is too much uncertainty to get into the market at this point.

After Greece defaults (and the smoke clears from the chaos), then look at the stock market.

I think cash is good as well (short term) because as the turmoil in Europe increases, investment will grow in US dollars.

IMHO

Kodak filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy in the middle of the night. Hoped you didn't buy any stock bruh.
