I grew up as a "corny black male". I was never invited to any parties the entire time I was in school; I never had a girlfriend K-12; and the first woman that ever gave me any kind of attention was some East Indian chick that used to come into Taco Bell(my first job).
The best compliment I received was from a popular girl: "You're kind of cute, but you're just too damn weird".
Where I'm from, if you weren't a thug, a pretty thug, or just a straight up prep, there was no one interested in you.
When I attended college, I did get a bit of attention from the nerdy black chicks. That was cool, because they were more my speed.
At the same time, a lot of black women don't realize dudes like myself become bitter when we are constantly made to feel we aren't good enough. Maybe we WEREN'T good enough, but that don't mean you have to LIKE it.
In my current 'position', a lot of black chicks that would have NEVER given me any play are more than happy to bust it wide open for me now. I might look, but I don't want to.

Honestly speaking I think both black men and black women would be better off in life if they took a page out of Taye Diggs' book and go for what they wanted in life. They had little league and a private school, and no black kids played in the little league, or attended the private school. Once again, it's not so much that you COULDN'T, but you KNEW you weren't wanted.
