how to deal with Gays in college dorms???? Anybody ever have a gay roommate?

I didn't say ANYTHING about style of dress...I said "personal life"...don't come @ me w/ your fag hag tactics...lots of dudes nowadays wear tight clothing or girls dress like dudes or w/e and ppl are not sure nor care about they sexuality bcuz they are keeping the details of their personal lives to themselves...if you read the anecdotes of dudes who had gay roommates or ppl who knew dudes who had gay roommates then you read where the obvious violations occur

I said let me understand.

Don't come popping off at the mouth at me like I have personally offended you (or did I? ) because I don't take kind to that macho, bruised ego shit.

You said personal life...I highly doubt ten out of ten cases an otherwise openly gay person would move in with someone they don't know from dirt and immediately start pronouncing their personal business without some type of "let me get to know my roommate" situation first.

And for the record, my style of dress is my personal life because your clothes can display your emotion, your political viewpoint, your culture, etc. If you feel that attacked in a discussion about homosexuality when you shouldn't feel threatened, maybe you need a nap.

I wouldn't have a problem with it. I'd be up front and lay some ground rules down. Just simple rules of common courtesy and decency should suffice.

:bravo:

You don't have to deal with shit. Tell the hall director to get you out of that room. ASAP. You don't have to put up with that shit. I know if i'm staying somewhere I don't want to see or hear no gay niggas in the room next to me just like I don't want someone smoking cigarettes in a apartment with me. Tell them to re-assign you.

That's fucked up man...I went to college in '93 plus it was an HBCU so back then that shit was not openly accepted so any dude showing out would've gotten laughed @ @ the very least or got his ass grinded up cuz dudes got fucked up for far less on campus back then...but hearing my cuz'ns story I just couldn't help but shake my head cuz it's a sign of the times now I guess...these fools was propositioning dudes in the shower rooms and shit...just real disrespectful shit
Wow thats crazy. Yea man I was shocked as shit when he put it out there like that. Just like guys are saying in here I kept hearing mainly from girls when they found out my roommate was gay "not every gay guy wants you" which is true. They are still men though which mean they are some horny motherfuckers.

:D Yea I thought I did too. I was 18 with that young kid mentality still, very open to be friends with anyone, can't do that shit now as I'm getting older.

I still moved out lol only next door though b/c I became real cool with the two guys next door to me and one was leaving school also they had cable.

Gay dude just started to have the I hate the world mentality, and started to become an asshole so I felt I needed to leave before something did happen. Figured if he had his own room things would be better for him. Homie ended up dropping out of school though.

I completely understand what you're saying. For 18 you handled that very maturely. You are indeed. DATDUDE. lol At least you listened. Many times at that age no one at all will listen.

Yep that's all there is to it if you feel that uncomfortable.

Yep that's all there is to it if you feel that uncomfortable.

Just heard about that shit last week about ol' girl killing her roommate and they had problems before then. Had she just re-assigned rooms she would probably still be here today.

Dude seemed cool up until he propositioned you...that's some disrespectful ass shit...you played it cool tho...like I said I seen dudes get gutted stomped out etc for far less...and this was supposed to be a good school  but it's diff day and age now...it's ok for them to proposition you and shit but God forbid you say you don't like that shit then you're labeled a homophobe

"You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor." (Exodus 20:17)

Jesus specifically addressed the question of lusting after a women who wasn't one's wife, equating it with the physical act of adultery:

"You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY'; but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. (Matthew 5:27-29)

The prohibition against lust is found throughout the New Testament,10 which says that such desires "wage war against the soul."11 James gives an analogy of lust to procreation, in which lust conceives and gives birth to sin, which results in death.12 Of course, the goal of pornography is to elicit lust, which makes its consumption a form of sin.

It's better to cut out thine own eyes then to let them sin. So, why are you on a porn board? If you're too afraid to cut out your own eyes, i'd be willing to help you in service to your god.

lol, so let me get this right, in your defence of homosexuals you are offering to cut my eyes out, white people and the black people who follow them

I am fully aware of what Jesus taught concerning lusting after women and what Apostle James taught concerning lust.

And as I have said before and may I paraphrase 2pac, "Only God can judge me" you see what I'm arguing is that when you make men set your moral compass for what is right and wrong it is a recipe for disaster. You are giving homosexuals a pass today, you'll be giving pedophiles a pass tomorrow.

I accept all what you type, but God doesnt want my right eye taken out neither by me or with your help

He speaks in the text of right eye and right hand, note he makes no reference to the left hand or the left eye, yet do you look at a woman with one eye if both eyes are work perfectly fine. No Jesus is talking of a different kind of sight, right in the bible speaks of power, like a boxers right hand is usually his power punch, so the right eye and right hand is talking of a sight which as power assigned to it, the type of sight which drives you to follow through and accomplish something so he mentions the right hand also. He's not saying pluck out a physical eye, but put away the offending thing which causes the stumbling.

Someone smoking in your room = hazardous to your health

Someone being gay...with you being in their room...not so much

Yea but I don't want someone in my room smoking not because of my health. I simply don't like the smell of cigarettes. Health is a concern too but even if second hand smoke was healthy I still wouldn't want someone in my room smoking cigarettes. I don't want to gay dude around me with that gay shit. I'm not homophobic by any means but I just don't want to be around that. I'm sure someone gay wouldn't want to be around me and a female and I don't want to be around him and his partner.

...what really gets me about topics like this is that if someone can say they don't want to be around someone because of their sexual orientation (regardless of how down to earth or relateable they might be) what is there to stop you or any other person from saying the same thing about other characteristics of other people? To me, in the grand scheme of things, a persons sexual orientation is such a mundane thing to argue over. I'd be much more heated if they was just plain nasty, or loud, or slept with too many different people in my personal space (our shared room...I don't care what secrets the motel down the street carry). But all of these things are not dictated by a persons sexual orientation...which brings me back to my original question...

What stops a person from discriminating on other characteristics about people?

You'll be willingly labeling yourself as homophobic and could raise the argument that it'll have adverse effects on your mental health. There may be religious reasons also.

Your gay roommate doesn't have to go any where but you have every right to remove yourself.

It's not pc but if you aren't comfortable...

I had a gay roommate after I transferred schools... I could tell right off bat something was up with dude but I never really saw him on the reg. We had a 3 story spot and there were 4 of us, he just so happened to be the only gay dude in the house. I had morning classes and was done by 12. I can't tell you dude's name since we never spoke but I had no issue with the dude until I would come home AFTER him and whomever got finished doing their thing. My room was next to his and you could tell if that cat got some ass or was giving it up cause it smelled like shit.

There were more than a handful of nights where I would come home with a shortie and we would have to leave cause you had to walk thru the smell to get to my room. For the most part he kept to himself and tried to do his thing when no one was home but there were times when either me or one of the other two roommates would run into this cat when he would be trying to sneak one of his "friends" out the house after a session. Shit was nasty... His room always smelled like shit. There was one morning I woke up with my shortie and was on my way to the restroom. I see this man door open and since I had to walk past his door to get to the restroom I was going to say "Sup" and I wish I didn't...:smh: this nicca was looking at BET that morning BEATING HIS SHIT, DOOR WIDE THE FUCK OPEN and it smelled like SHIT ALL IN THE HALLWAY:puke:... and without thought I yell out AWW DAMN :smh::angry::smh: turn around, go back into my room and told lil mama, I'm sick... :puke: She asked me what was wrong. cause I know I had a crazy look on my face. I told her what the fuck just happened and she didn't believe me.:confused: (thinking to myself, why the fuck would I make up some shit like that):beatyourass: I know I had to have one of those looks like I should slap the shit out of you... I told her to go in the hall and see for herself. We could hear this man moving around so she waits a few before getting up herself. So I'm sure he heard us talking about him which is why he got up and rolled out the spot so quick. After he left, she got up, opened the door was just as mad and sick as I was... I never saw dude again in the house and he moved out at the end of the semester. Heard him a few times after that but I kept my door shut and never came out when I knew he was home.

We complained to the folks in the office how he had the place smelling. The other two roommates had to smell it too cause the washer and dryer were on the top floor where my room was. The lady in the office kept saying there was nothing she could do to remove the dude. She just said he had to leave on own and the fastest way to get him to do that was make him feel uncomfortable but quickly followed up even that may not work. The lady in the office just laughed at me :roflmao3: when I told her the story even had to take a seat... but was just as disgusted as I was when I told her what the hallway smelled like. :smh::smh::smh: and understood where I was coming from :angry:

What stops a person from discriminating on other characteristics about people?

Negative labels and social alienation.

Though I definitely wouldn't care and would welcome a roommate leaving that turned out to be racist and didn't want to live with a black person.

Being gay has to do with sex and sex is intimate even through mental planes. It's not so easy for everyone to ignore.

Jeezus Christ man...I can't even laugh @ this :smh: living w/ someone is a very personal experience...shit like this can't be avoided...

Man I would have thought this way until I actually talked with a honest black guy on my job I used to work at. Dude told me that black guys dont give a fuck about us white men, and do things to annoy us because they can get away with reverse racism.:smh:
.... Thats why till this day, I never trust no niggas!!!

come on dude, you ran into one self hating gay person and now you dont trust gay people?

Jeezus Christ man...I can't even laugh @ this :smh: living w/ someone is a very personal experience...shit like this can't be avoided...

Right and there were times when her and I would show up to the spot right after and just couldn't even relax in my own place cause it smelled like straight ass... I was constantly buying air fresheners and putting them next to my closet cause I didn't want my clothes to smell that way nor my room. Shit was crazy...

I had a switch hitter from St. Louis as a roomate for one semester at Jackson St. back in 94. I could tell this dude had sugar in his tank but he also had a prancing J-Sette dancer girl he was smashing. The reason I knew he played on both teams was because all his homies were known gay or bi guys. However dude was cool with me and his gay homies rarely came by to see him at our room. Plus dude was hardly there most of the times. I could tell he was the secretive type but he was respectful and never acted fruity around me besides his voice. Overall it was not a bad experience for me per say.

Wow this is turning out to be an interesting thread.
So a straight guy should feel no way about staying in a room or an apartment with a gay person ?. Where are the real bgol men at ?.

A gay man is affront to a real man, how could a straight man honestly live with that manner of person and feel comfortable is beyond me.

This isn't about just what they do? this is a man or woman going against their natural use of himself or herself and the next person. You are not gay for a reason, somewhere in your psyche you told yourself I was made to procreate. To lay down with a woman. Now here comes this thing to coexist with you and your world and be at odds to it. Trust me, homosexuality is like the plague, if its near you, you'll become desensitized to them and before you know it you'll allow all kinds of filth around you.

My advice to any straight person in this predicament would be, go and find another place. A little leaven, leaven the whole lump,. :smh: I'm really surprised at the liberalness on here.

Beat me to it.About a decade ago,the OP wouldn't have even needed to explain himself. Now he is on the defensive for understanding why why straight bruthas don't want to room with faggots. The media has really done a number on yall. Many of us have moral opposition to homosexuality. Personally,I just don't want to be around that shit.I don't want to see it or hear about it.That doesn't make me "scared"/homophobic, secretly gay, or think they want me, but I simply don't agree with it and find it disgusting. The "right" thing to do is for the college to separate gays as they do people of different sexes. This won't happen though because gays compare their plight to race and want to room with everyone else to FORCE acceptance. This is a fucked up world we live in now. :hmm:

:lol::lol::lol:

bgol has plenty of cats that went here:

ask them

OK went through post and did not see anyone say they had a gay roommate.

Well I did my freshman year. Way before school started I got all my info my roommates name I'm and pretty sure his phone number b/c I know like a week before school I called to ask what I needed to bring and when he answered the phone I looked at my at boy and just  this dude is gay could tell by how he talked.

Man I said fuck it I got no problem with it. Day one dude realized it just was not going to be his way he thought I would be going down stairs to smoke(I don't smoke) or just go down there to talk with him when he did fuck that.

It was ok at first he did his thing, never had sex in the room from what I can recall, and I did mine. He became a very depressed person that first semester he changed all classes to night and I was mornings so we hardly saw each other. Guys on the floor hated him b/c he would call campus police in a heartbeat if they made too much noise.

:smh: One night changed the whole game. It was a weekend he was never usually there on the weekends but he was this time so he decided to tell me too much info on how his night went. I heard the story on what he felt made him gay it was fucked up and very sad :(. Dude also put it out there that if I was ever down with it he was too. I moved out next semester . He got a room all to himself.
That nigga was plotting on you.

Being gay has to do with sex and sex is intimate even through mental planes. It's not so easy for everyone to ignore.

See for me, something like being racist is detrimental to my physical health. I try not to equate homosexuality with race because it's something I can't speak first hand on...just seems wrong. Although I'm pretty sure there are many that would classify a homophobic roommate as detrimental to their health.

While I agree that sex is intimate and not easy for everyone to ignore, what would be the problem if you never saw their partner? Didn't smell stank ass, (which would be a very common smell in a woman's dorm house cause it's some nasty ass females? Didn't hear their stories, see random paraphernalia, see them with their friends?

I see so much wrong with me, myself, it's discussions like this that I get in trouble so much keeping shit to myself. Because people overall can't accept 'otherworldly' thoughts or behaviors. I hope whomever I pick as my therapist when I hit the lottery to afford one is more tolerant than most on this board...but then again with so many cats from the A, I might as well take a silent auction.

I'm a pretty tolerant cat, not at all homophobic, but I wouldn't be comfortable having a gay roommate.

when I say roommate I mean it as in we share the same 4 walls. some of you cats sound more like you're describing suite-mates and housemates.

during my freshman year I had an ACTUAL roommate, his bed couldn't have been more than 10 or so feet away from mine. I wouldn't be comfortable in such close quarters with a gay cat :smh:

I can respect that...but you say you're not homophobic...but yet you don't want to be around someone that is gay...

No I said I don't want to be around that gay shit. And what I mean by that is two dudes being affectionate towards each other. That's a no go. I don't believe that makes me homophobic. Its unrealistic to ask him not to bring a partner home because he will and shit will hit the fan. I don't have any problem with gay people. Its that over the top gay pride shit I don't like.

lol, so let me get this right, in your defence of homosexuals you are offering to cut my eyes out, white people and the black people who follow them

King James Vr.Mark 9:43
And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched.

I'm offering to help you follow your beliefs to the letter. Isn't that what you're doing when you speak against homosexuals? lol white people and the black people who follow them. White people taught you the book you're following. Why are you speaking about yourself there?

I am fully aware of what Jesus taught concerning lusting after women and what Apostle James taught concerning lust.

And as I have said before and may I paraphrase 2pac, "Only God can judge me" you see what I'm arguing is that when you make men set your moral compass for what is right and wrong it is a recipe for disaster. You are giving homosexuals a pass today, you'll be giving pedophiles a pass tomorrow.

I accept all what you type, but God doesnt want my right eye taken out neither by me or with your help

There is no sin differentiation. All sins are the same in the eyes of god. If only god can judge, and you are not god. Then by you judging is blaspheming. As you are placing yourself in a position akin to god.

He speaks in the text of right eye and right hand, note he makes no reference to the left hand or the left eye, yet do you look at a woman with one eye if both eyes are work perfectly fine. There's a new phrase making the rounds called homointolerant. Homophobic is misused.

Man when I said roommate I mean I could stretch my arm out and touch his bed. Man in the beginning it was not bad he did bring girls up but I did not try to get with any b/c I didn't think any were really cute but they were cool people. I just think it will depend on the personality of the gay guy and the roommate just like it does with any other roommate. I just made sure I got fully dressed in the bathroom couldn't treat our room like its the locker room you know.

When I moved to the dorm my original roommate tried to get this dude to move to my room so he could room with his Patna. When I saw dude was a300lb flamer I said hell no and I also said I dont feel comfy with a gay dude as a roomy. We tormented that dude all year. Years later he has never came out and supposedly is still a virgin. Fuck sharing a room with a fag.

I feel you. My first and only ROOMmate was an asian cat that was completely sprung on this chick that didn't go to our school and wasn't interested in any other pussy so it worked out great  I rarely saw him unless we were drinking and he knew when to leave when hoes came through
