I went looking for a new grill at lowes today so wifey don't heat the house up using the stove during these hot ass days and saw these weber grills genesis some are as much as $799 the cheapest was like $399. I had a char-broil for mad years but what's up with these weber grills I need some feedback if anybody owns one, do steaks and burgers cook crazy on this particular grill?

you dont need anything fancy

You get what you pay for. A Genesis will literally last you a lifetime. Compare the amount of plastic on a Genesis and a Char Broil. The only thing plastic is probably the knobs and wheels. Just like their charcoal grills are 40% more expensive in comparison, they will last you forever.

^^^^ This.

Wife got me one for Father's Day.

Thanks fellas it looks like a solid grill and probably last a lifetime you know how it is you ask somebody in lowes and they don't know their ass from their face

its just a metal bowl , its gonna rust , if people didnt leave thier cheap ones out in the rain and snow they would last a long time too

this is the one i got. lowes gave me adeal since its been sitting outside for a year i got 100 bucks knocked off.

With those prices I assume you are talking about a gas grill.Get that Weber.I got the Silver B 8 years ago and its working fine.Im a firefighter and the stations that have Webers hardly never replace them. The stations that skimped and got anything else, ended up replacing them in months.

I have had the charcoal version of this with the side smoker for about 10 years and I love it.

yep thats what im gonna get when I make the switch from apartment to house with a backyard

for now the cheap walmart $20 joint has been holding it down

I got nothing but Weber's in my stash. I have a OG charcoal grill that on everything has been sitting outside with no cover or anything for about 4-5 years through rain, heat, etc. I looked at it the other day and the only thing I really need to do is replace the metal racks which are like $10 each. I bought a Weber Spirit gas grill which was like $399 and it works great....got it on sale for $299:dance:

My latest addition is a Weber Lil Joe, miniature charcoal grill. I bought it to have that charcoal taste without firing up the big charcoal, if i just want to throw a steak or two on there without a whole lot of work using the big grill.

Once you go Webber Nothing else will do.
Start with a nice size kettle and use the indirect cooking method. (read the manual ) Its like a grill and a pressure cooker all in one.

I've had my black Weber for 10 years, and in that time, we've gone through 2 fancy gas grills. That Weber is still doing it.

I work for a retailer, and they recently sent me to the Weber training center and manufacturing headquarters in Illinois. That price is a bit hefty, but like everyone has stated, its about the highest quality grill you can buy. The overall contruction and amount of steel is unequivical to any other grill. But also, what most consumers don't see, is the warranty. You get 5 years on grates, 10 years on burners( which if they ever need replacing, Weber will send a rep to your house to do it for you), warranty on the other parts and a Customer service center that's open 354 days a year, including all major holidays and weekends. I've got customers that have had their Webers for 10 plus years, and that's with MINIMAL care. I have yet to buy one, mainly because I'm a charcoal man myself, but its on the wish list for fathers day!

brother, I've had my black webber for... well forget that, my dad has had the same black webber since I was small enough to be running around it, knock it over, get burned by it and have NO scar today at 28.

I have 2 webbers, a black one and a blue one. I use them for jerk chicken and jerk pork, respectively... wouldn't trade em for anything! and if you're from the carib, NO, not even a steel drum grill

it's all in the shape of the weber; i think they have a patent on it.

they last, and they cook well.

personally, i use a clay, thai-style 'bucket' grill that gets hotter than a pepper garden in hell in summer.

I just smoked some trout on a mini-weber yesterday....I soaked a cedar plank overnight, seared the fish on the grill, and then placed the fish on the wood plank and the plank on the grill and closed the lid....It's like having a smoker...It came out perfect.

heating. put something to the back of some grills and it takes longer to cook then the front, or the middle might be dead, etc. quality of metal used, is it gonna warp or rust? Quality of the actual racks, are they good at retaining heat? Quality of heat, does it lock the heat in when the lid is down, or is it all escaping? shit like that you need to pay attention to.
