These ETs are treating Earth as one big complex system, and that is what they are attacking. Why are they hitting Japan so hard? Japan makes tons of high-end electronics - possibly vital to mount an effective planetary defense. And if they topple Japan into the ocean, bye bye U.S. west coast - more vital infrastructure lost. (Not to mention lives.)

Also, that thing that streaked across the sky and went inside the top of that volcano in Japan - I never saw it come out. It's possible it's down in the magma tubes that run along Japan's volcanoes doing that pulsing energy shit and causing quakes. If so, I would not expect it to stop until that precarious chunk of Japan falls into the ocean.
