Corporate Communications Manager - Charlotte Bobcats/Sting (Charlotte, NC)
OVERVIEW Position will assist the Public Relations department of The Charlotte Bobcats and The Charlotte Sting. The ideal candidate will have experience in the sports field.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following. Other duties may be assigned.)
Work directly with Vice President of Public Relations in managing “off-the-court” publicity for Charlotte Bobcats and Charlotte Sting
Establish proactive press campaign designed to increase awareness of organization’s effort in the community through participation of players, coaches and front office staff
Together with VP of Community Relations, create and activate publicity campaigns designed to focus awareness on franchise’s off-court community partnership and grassroots programs initiatives
Manage corporate communications publicity campaign (sponsorship, suites, premium seating, season tickets, individual tickets, promotions)
Coordinate and plan media outreach for marketing events and activities
Execute writing/editing of appropriate press releases and other franchise related news pieces.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform the job successfully, the candidate should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this job.
Degree in Public Relations or related field
5 years experience
Presents self in professional manner and has ability to interact with all levels of organization and outside contacts
Interpersonal skills – ability to maintain confidentiality, listens to others, and willing to try new things
Ability to work in fast-paced environment
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Software
Excellent communication skills including written and verbal; ability to present ideas clearly and concisely
Strong organizational skills
Planning and organizing, can prioritize work activities; uses time efficiently
Detail Oriented
Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to handle frequent changes
Ability to multi-task
Some evenings, weekend, and holiday hours required
