I will be flying into Philadelphia in a couple of weeks for a business trip. What's there to do in the evenings?

Usually when I travel, I know people in that area, but in this case, I'll be exploring the city a day or two alone. Any suggestions?

Hey Sweetie, You have to visit 29th and diamond in North Philly. Nice clubs, good people and resturants. But dress up and wear jewelery or you'll feel out of place.

Also

Kensington and Somerset sts., Kensington.
52nd and Market sts., West Philadelphia.

Bring lots of cash to those areas. They are old spots and the charm is they dont accept credit cards like it was in the 30's and 40s. Just a heads up

Take your bitch ass out of here. I'm a lot of things, but not a damn fool. Do me a favor meet me there, so I can pay a couple of dudes to help you commit the suicide you were crying about at one point.

Hit up south street. Some decent lil shops down there. You should also hit up center city and old city to get a good feel of the city. If you looking to see a lil bit of the hood, go to max's on broad and erie. They sell a belly buster of a cheese steak/hoagie. You can get there on the subway with the orange line.

For nightlife you got delaware avenue, old city, rittenhouse square, etc. But you can always ask around to see what's happening in the city.

Hey Coco...

Do yourself a favor and frequent the section known as Northern Liberties which is between Girard Street and Spring Garden Ave on 2nd and Girard intersection. You will have a great time in that area. There are plenty of restaurants, lounges, dinners and outdoor activities. It is a very diverse crowd, which surprised me, and the property values are some of the highest in Philadelphia.

Other areas to go to is pretty much anything between Olde City, Downtown and the university area where Penn and Drexel are in. Olde City has many different lounges, bars and restaurants Downtown is your center of the city and Olde City and University City are on its left and right. Between Downtown and University City, you have a bunch of shopping areas on Walnut Street and Rittenhouse square is another nice area.

For cheese steaks, I would go to Tony Luke's which has the best chicken cheese steaks in the world in my humble opinion. You will find this at 2nd and Oregan St.

Other then that, unless you know people in Philly, I wouldn't stay for hours in West or North Philly.

dont let that glorified north philly impress you... it is a nice area but it is still a younger crowd that is just getting started in their professions or the want to be professionals and it is still north philly and check the history the criminal activity is still heavy over there.

check out one of the eateries from one of the three iron chefs that have a place in the city, that black dude that won top chef opened a new place too.

Thanks friend. :)

there is a good tour you can go on that takes you around the city and shows you all the things that black people have contributed to the city like the art museum and other shit.

the weather is setting in around so it is not really ideal for a day of walking but i have always found all that historic stuff down on independence mall very interesting like the besty ross house and ben franklins house have a lot of hands on stuff you can see and touch, the church where you can go and sit in the pews that the famous people sat in and walk on their graves.

there is also an african american museum very close to the independence mall area. very small but they have some nice exhibits in there

Visitphilly.com gives you the ins and outs of things you can get into.

if your business takes you over near the university of Penn Bobby Flays Burger Palace is a great place for lunch. Burgers are great better than five guys in my opinion and you can get beef chicken or turkey options.

if you find yourself walking or driving past this place and decide to go in i wear a size 13 :D

Maybe im getting old but Philly nightlfe has fallen off the last 7 years.

Northern libs is overrated. There's some nice restaurants in olde city, center city, and rittenhouse square. Of course there's Chinatown. If you are looking for soul food there's Ms Tootsies on south street.I'm not a fan but A couple my homies love it. Any place that uses liquid smoke in their greens is wack to me. If you want a cheesesteak, Jim's on south St is pretty good

it is a cool sneaker store in chinatown they have a lot of rare sneakers and tee shirts and other clothing from little known designers. if you buy a shirt or something they put it in one of those folding chinese takeout boxes and a fortune cookie.
