Hamas supremo Khaled Meshaal on Friday warned
Israel that a "black destiny" awaits the Jewish state
if it launches a ground offensive into the Gaza Strip.

<font size="3">
The following was excerpted from an article entitled, "Hamas chief warns of 'black destiny' for Israel" discussing Israel's ground incursion into the Hamas held Gaza strip:
"Addressing US president-elect Barack Obama, Meshaal said:

"The start is not good."

"You commented on Bombay but you say nothing about the crime of the enemy (Israel). This policy of double standards should stop," the Hamas leader said, referring to the attacks in India at the end of November which left 172 people dead. "
In other words, Obama commented on the terrorists attacks against Mumbai (Bombay) India, but is silent in the face of the Israeli attacks on Hamas/Palestinians.

The Obama Administration's relationship to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict won't be any different than Bush's or any other previous President. Why do they expect otherwise? Obama was on AIPAC's dick during his whole campaign!

Whether or not Mr. Obama comments on the stomp-down is Israel is dishing out or not remains to be seen. Hell, he should have been quiet on Mumbai. He's not in office yet!
But, maybe, the pending conversation in regards to Meshaal's statement would go something like this: "Where as the Indian/Pakistani situation stems from their tumultuous past, or the opportunistic attack during the month of the United States' Presidential transitional period, Hamas has proven itself incapable of demonstrating the self-controlled, non-violent and political approach necessary to garner world-wide sympathy in reference to Israel. Launching rockets on the land that is recognized as Israel is an attack on a Sovereign State and is seen as an act of war. Therefore, this administration will wait for you to quietly and peacefully take this ass whopping until January 21st at 1229, District of Columbia time. Until then, duck."
Of course I’m voicing my view of both sides with a middle finger to both.
Personally, I have no love for the Arab world and their philosophy. I can say the same as far as the "state" of Israel. But honestly, these idiots are killing each other over fuckin' land! Have been doing so for so long I'm surprised there is shit to still fight over. But. They're in their backyard doing it. As long as it stays there, fuck'em both!

Last of rant: Israel, you're bringing an Uzi to a spitball fight. Enough already! Calm the fuck down.

This hate dates way back in the bible and it will go on long after Obama's second term is finished. The US WILL continue to defend Isreal because of it's location in the region, money and skin color and arab nations will continue to defend other arabs because that's all they know to do.

Neither side could give a damn about who is right or why they hate each other. Been fighting so long, none probably knows why anymore. Let em fight until they get tired.

uh "start not so good" how??? Obama hasn't even been sworn in yet

The timing of Israel's attacks is a deliberate test of the new President's foreign policy. The Republicans warned that he would be tested, and here it is!

The whole world knows what's happening, and is watching.

Re: Hamas Handouts

The war/battle/conflict in the Middle East and surrounding
countries and territories goes on on several levels. No matter
how humanitarian, compassionate, or right it may sound, this is
still the war/battle/conflict going on, but at the level for hearts and minds.

After weeks of Arab grumbling about Barack Obama’s silence on Gaza, the newly inaugurated American president has spoken. And his message is this: “We are ready to initiate a new partnership.”

But perhaps the biggest statement the president made was to choose the Dubai-based Al Arabiya network as the conduit for his first televised interview since taking office. It aired this morning. (You can view video highlights of the interview at the end of this post.)

New approach to US-Arab relations
In his remarks, he laid out a new approach for US relations with the Arab and Muslim worlds, one based on “mutual respect and mutual interest,” while taking care to assert that Israel would remain a strong ally.

Ultimately, we cannot tell either the Israelis or the Palestinians what’s best for them. But I do believe that the moment is ripe for both sides to realize that the path that they are on is not going to result in prosperity and security for their people.

Focus on the future
But beware, Israelis and Palestinians: He’s not going to have a lot of patience for nit-picking over past conflicts and past grievances. The focus has to be on the future.

… the bottom line in all these talks and conversations is, is a child in the Palestinian territories going to be better off, do they have a future for themselves, and is a child in Israel going to feel confident about his or her safety and security? … If we can keep our focus on making their lives better, and look forward, and not simply think about all the conflicts and tragedies of the past, then I think we will have an opportunity to make real progress.

There’s more to it than the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
Prodded by the Al Arabiya reporter, he also affirmed that the US would approach the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on a new paradigm: That it is only one part of a complex region.

I do think that it is impossible for us to think only in terms of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and not think about what is happening with Syria, or Iran, or Lebanon, or Afghanistan and Pakistan. These things are interrelated.

Challenges to peace
But he emphasized again and again how significant the challenges to peace are in the region, and sought to lower expectations for quick results.

It is not going to be easy, and that’s why we have George Mitchell going there. This is somebody with extraordinary patience, as well as extraordinary skill, and that’s what’s going to be necessary.

Check out the full transcript of the interview on Al Arabiya.

George Mitchell’s ‘extraordinary patience’

We wrote last week about Mr. Mitchell’s record as the man who brokered peace in Northern Ireland after decades of hatred and violence.

What kept him going? Looking at his baby son, and thinking of how many children had been born in Northern Ireland that day – 61, he learned. And he wanted each one of those to live in peace.

Sounds as if he and Obama are on the same page.
